Central Safe & Locksmith Company

Don't judge according to appearance. It's hole in the wall place, a dingy. However, these guys did a fantastic job and were very friendly. If you're in NW DC and you need any wide range of key copied quickly, cheaply, also, these are your guys.
My handbag was stolen and that I needed to replicate keys. Following a visit to Ace Hardware, I discovered that among my home keys was a key that was specialized that maybe not many areas carried. I called a couple more hardware stores simply to confirm my fears. Luckily someone suggested I call Central Safe and Locksmith. Worried that I would need to make a trek out into some Yelp recommended locksmith to Virginia, I was relieved when these guys told me that they carried the secret. I made a mad dash and $ 5 later and 2 minutes, I had two expertly copied keys. Wow.

I'm a realtor so I usually keep four or five locksmiths' contact information handy each time a customer wishes to lease it out and purchases a home. I would like someone that does it and does work. But that's business. Recently, I had locks changed removing a renter, and Central was quick to reply, get over a locksmith to evaluate the problem and gave a more quote. No hassle, work done professionally and economically. I'll use Central for referrals and all my private jobs from today on. Highly recommend.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE. In the past I used this company a great deal for my properties since they were reasonable, but recently their prices just don't make any sense whatsoever. $800 to change one lock?!?! They laugh at you once you face them. I will take my business elsewhere and suggest you do the same.

Come here if you need anything such as safes, keys, locks, etc! We had them available a safe for us and have been really satisfied with the costs and the customer service! Larry made sure that we left fulfilled and he was really friendly! Highly suggested.

I will likely use them again but never and never with the confidence I had. But again as I write this--likely not. When will we learn that associations, trust, honour, and fair-dealing are still features of business transactions? Is getting $168.00 for 3 screws actually and standing in our community?
Now I have done business with this company before but constantly onsite at their Street place. I have always found their prices reasonable and their job competent. In addition, I take ownership which I did not ask (nor did they provide ) just how much the service call could be. My Poor. BUT one reason that I wasn't particularly worried was because my expectation was that their charges would be fair, reasonable, and relative to the amount of labour necessary. My anticipation was incorrect.
Has experienced a loose manage for three or more years on her security door. I attempted to fix it. I paid a handyman to fix it. Neither fix worked. FinallyI predicted Safe and Locksmith aka Central Lock. Turns out the fix needed 3 hardware screws that took by the arrival to departure of the tech, to install including all adjustments-none of that required real work . Not specialty screwsnot gold-plated screwsnot hand-forged screwsjust hardware screws which you get for about $2.50 for a pack of 6 at Home Depot.
This rating does reflect the quality of this company's service. They do great, no-nonsense work. This is rather a comment on my disappointment that we've devolved to the point where the buck supersedes goodwill, common sense, and good judgment.
The bill: $155.00 plus tax for a total of $168.00. I called the office and requested that they consider adjusting the bill. A recitation of,"that is our normal charge" was the response I received. The tech clearly understood the fee was unreasonable because he chuckled at me when he said,"I thought you understood, you did not ask?" As he took my money.

Was referred to by Ace Gear on 5th Street since they could not copy my keys and needed a professional like at Central, they reproduced my keys and checked a number of the keys that I'd need copying in the future since I got a new top lock onto my building yesterday Glad I found a"go to" location that really does these keys near my job.

Great speedy service rekeying and I learned a couple of things.

Steer clear of this shop. Lots of other options in NW.
Check out my pic for a comparison of these keys, supposedly made from the same code. Huge discrepancy.
Contacted the owner who offered some b.s. and refused to provide a refund. I have a feeling. Customer has to cover it. Very smart Locksmith & Safe.
I asked a simple key for a file drawer. The guy from this store said he could take action in an issue of"minutes" Key did not work. Had to order another key overnight.

Do not program them for a service appointment unless the lock is a mortisse lock or multipoint. For easy locks I use. That is your route if the lock can be removed by you . Then you can bring it in and have them work on it.
I manage about 100 properties in DC. I'm always needing to copy keys and occasionally have to have locks repaired or changed. For key copies, there is not any greater spot. They have all the blanks you need, including padlock keys. When they don't possess a secret I've seen them grind and hammer a secret to make it work. The only other area would be your St True Value, but they don't possess some keys.

Customer Service always #1! I called and the man was patient and answered all my questions. My safe started and were able to help me get out my things. They know what they are doing and I def would refer them
Been coming here since before they needed to proceed from 9th st.

Really annoying: I went throughout the store hours as per the website from far away to the store. Nobody there, shuttered. I called, got a voice message saying that I should instead call through the store hours (that I had been doing!) , however, the voice recorder didn't say anything further about when the store hours arecould you leave a voicemail. So when I got back home, I wrote Lock and Central Safe an email explaining the store was closed although that I had been there during hours. I finally got a response that the summer hours are shorter (saying in the mail that which they are), and that supposedly the summer hours are posted on the door of the store. Fantastic assistance even when they had been (I didn't see them in almost any case): what's the purpose of informing a customer once they went through the problem to get to the store, pay for parking, etc.! It is not 1988 anymore, but this kind of information can be set on the website of the store. I am giving CSL 2 stars rather than 1 only because I at least got an email reply.

I have had keys created at Central lock at least 3 times, or even 4. Very conveniently located, They all work fine, particularly when I wanted them produced in a pinch and I'm happy:-RRB-.

Wow, should have read the reviews that are crappy. They messed up with four keys I had them create. DO N OT USE!

I will not go with this Particular Locksmith - for the following reasons: Sounds like matches
This lack of clarity and appearing shifting of what really is included in the"service call charge" is why I won't go with this establishment. It seems like that is their typical mode of operations (reading other people yelp testimonials ).
SHOW UP FEE/Service call charge - $149 only to show up during normal business hours (not an emergency) and they're two blocks from my condominium. Their"show up charge" is the highest of those 5 locksmiths I called, really 3x the next highest man.
Enough for me to not trust them.
As soon as I sounded amazed by the"show up charge", the man starts mumbling about the way the"first task in included"... OK, so will be the show up fee simply to show up, or does this contain work? And wouldn't that be stated from the dialogue.

Thanks to Riley! Having problems with our job and he was very knowledgeable! Fantastic customer service. When I am ever in need of a locksmith, will call them again! Thanks!

I fell off the ignition together with the keycode and took it to them I retrieved from the base of the lock. They said to return in about one hour and took them both.
I lost the only key on a reccomendation and to my bike , I called about getting a new key made Central Safe & Lock to see. I inquired they said they did and if they stock Yamaha keys. I inquired when I brought it in, if they could make a key from my ignition and they said to just drop it off.
I choose the ignition house to find that the key doesn't match any of the other locks on your bike. On a return visit to the store, they cut another few keys and try arbitrary fluctuations in the key until they eventually generated a key that will fit the majority of the locks on the bike. . .not all.
Both times while I waited, a continuous flow of patrons came into the shop, not to get keys cut. . .but to get keys repaired because they wouldn't work.
In their defense, just some of the hooks on the crucial work for every particular lock, therefore it would be difficult for them to make a replacement key without access to all the locks. Of course, that is why I gave them the keycode they lost.
I come back and they create the ignition and a key . The key is a car key, not a yamaha bike essential, and sticks out way too far from the lock. Oh. . .and they dropped the keycode which I gave them.
Avoid this place.

$400.00 of lock for a change!
Professional crawlers! The lock was a normal lock that it is possible to purchase in Home Depot for max $40.00. When I called they stated that the locksmith will possess locks beginning at $25.00, and then they slam me with this cost. Beware.

Locked myself out of my apartment the first week of the new year. Called Central Safe & Locksmith Company and they came within the hour and have been professional in addition to efficient. They charged $185 for the home call, which will be going rate in DC, but I think that it's still expensive hence I'm rating at 4 stars. It was. I have had locksmiths that required up to arrive. I urge them, if you're in their local area.

I was very satisfied with my experience here. The guys were friendly, helpful, knew their stuff and the price was right.

The men here really helped me out. I found out it was really the lock which was rather although the key I had replicated did not work initially. I found that out since they came into my house the upcoming charge. Thanks Andy!
