I received a call in Mason who was able to put me on the schedule for now after expressing my complaint about the scheduling. Mason also arranged for someone to call to schedule my appointments earlier in the year so this issue won't happen again. Josh, the tech, couldn't have been done a much better job and arrived on time. I had decided that when I had been pleased with the service call, I would alter my review to 4 stars, allowing one celebrity for the scheduling issue. Josh was so fine and really went the extra mile answering questions that I had about my air program, I am giving them 5 stars. Hold on to Josh....he is a great tech and representative for your company.

I expect they will have a look at their pricing models. In the future, I will not trust ANY"special" price they estimate and store around.
I'm a long-time client who subscribes to Academy Air's Extra Privilege Service (EPS). My EPS furnace visit now was perfectly nice, and the tech was very client oriented. He identified a problem that may pose a issue later, specifically a noisy draft induction engine plus a 14-year-old hot surface ignitor. For replacing the two the EPS cost is $1,329.
Those two parts can be replaced in under one hour (10 minutes in 1 Youtube video), and the retail cost of the parts run $200. So, even in the event that you include two hours of work at $100, the entire cost of repair should be $400-$500. Had they quoted within this range, I would have had them do the work. There is of nearly 3 times that A cost irrational to me personally. As these are easy replacements I have ordered the components and will do the work myself.
No one addressed the work that has been previously done that this new technician says was completed incorrectly. I mean he comes down from the attic, supposedly upset from the shoddy work that he must follow along, holding a wad of what seems like filthy putty in his hand (was the thing being held with a stick and some chewing gum??) .
He had been very, He kept badmouthing his prior employer, saying he couldn't sleep at night because of all the terrible things they'd train them to do in order to emptiness individuals's warranties. He called me later to mention that he was told by his boss we wanted to cancel our installment. I told him , we had not spoken with anyone. For someone so active and unable to do his duties, he called me immediately when he thought he would not have been getting for this install the commission.
This is the time I use Academy Air. I really don't want these incompetent degenerates anywhere near my home. And don't call me for maintenance visits. The call I want is from your owner after I upload photographs of your shoddy work online as part of my complaint to the BBB.
They send these sleazy men out who can't keep their mouths shut or will not shut up about their previous lives (I.e. the crap they used to pull with their past employer that they're still pulling with their brand new one), can not perform a work correctly the first time and then aren't even there for their customers when they want them.
They sent a technician out who said he needed to bring a union to drain the unit to rid it and put in a fresh switch since ours failed. He told us he would produce a"makeshift" union for us and then have another technician come out to put in it in a few days. They did a few days later (once I called to remind them about the ceremony I'd paid for).
I immediately recognize him from another company he worked at called Budget -- another business that individuals are aware to steer clear of, After the technician comes Saturday morning. When I left him aware of where I knew him he paused and then commented that he had not worked there in a very long time (he inspected my a/c for the condominium I offered in 2016, barely a lengthy period ). Anyways, he goes up to the attic and immediately says the previous fixes (performed by Academy) were all wrong and had not been done right. He steps out to"call his manager to find out who did the repairs." When he returns, he appears in the attic once again before telling me "come look at the disgusting black gunk" in the air handler. I detected a few sludge and went there and asked what we needed to do. He said that there was nothing they could do. He said the air handler was not maintained by the prior owners and there was build that could create the unit clog if he removed it. (He stated,"it is mold, but I can not legally say it is mold. But, I mean what else accumulates in water?") Proposed a fresh air handler altogether for"member pricing" of $4200." I really don't know where he got that cost from. He decided to write all down it and said it. He then proceeded to depart. I asked him maintenance trip (why he was there) and everything about the next air handler at the basement (we've got two components for zoned a/c). He said he was there for the service call and had been outside the door. I stated no, the service call was cancelled. This was our upkeep trip that we prepaid. He still stated he was not there for this and someone would do it when they came to put in our brand new air handler. In addition, he indicated that he couldn't stay because he had"other forecasts" following us.
Why didn't the previous technician see that the full unit was"just going to clog again and we want a fresh one? Send this modest half-baked pipsqueak to do a job that he can not do? He said we should not maintain the a/c upstairs running since it is"disgusting to breath all that mold" again with the phrase he is not capable to use (however, this little man did not even think to switch off our dangerous unit until he left).
Thursday, the unit shuts itself off. We called them that day about 5pm and the rep that was dense explained they'd try to have someone come over the following day. Obviously, I was able to call a different company. We did not require that service telephone and got it back . Academy had predicted to remind us of a prepaid maintenance visit we had to use. When they predicted Friday morning to send a tegh about the unit I told her no need, we'll just create the technician aware of it on Saturday when he comes for the upkeep check. Mind you, this rep kept cutting off me, trying to prevent me from telling her how irritating it was to need to call someone else to assist us when we are a member with their business.
I believed I'd be a lifetime customer of this company but it seems that something has changed with this company. They recently completed a repair. The 1 hour of labour (if that) and $10 thermocoupler cost me $350.
When I called to ask if the pricing was correct the office told me that they completed 2 other repairs (which were not done). I had been guaranteed a return phone call from a supervisor to talk about three different times and still, no return call.
I would not recommend using them to anybody unless you've got a emergency and you want money and a same-day service call isn't an issue.
The company is responsive and appear on time but they're CRAZY EXPENSIVE.
He did have to order the part for me personally, but I discovered that the component was a third of the price after I did my own research. This is typical in the area as you are paying for labor not the component, fortunately for meI have a buddy that is HVAC certified and may come put the part for free so I did not really use Academy Air's solutions to install the component but anytime I have an emergency or anything else, I'll be returning . Great service, and I did not feel like I was being utilized or cheated.
Customer service was good - I called on a Saturday when my heat went out and they had somebody out in one hour WITHOUT an emergency or weekend charge. He was comprehensive and incredibly insightful - and I liked like he had been a salesman at my dwelling, so I did not feel that they're paid hourly not by commission. He made certain I knew what was happening before he left and made sure to handle all the bolts and nuts.
We used Academy Air for an extremely irritating electrical problem a week, and Phil came out to perform the work. Phil was professional and knowledgeable about not just our bathroom lighting problem, but the system throughout our house. As a result of this experience we've decided to use Academy Air for every one our electrical/heating/cooling/pipes requirements. Thank you Phil!
We had a humidifier installed using a thermostat. The thermostat is fine because we can control it with our iPhone. House is more comfortable now. The installer was friendly and helpful. Educated us the way to make alterations through the thermostat to fine tune our comfort. The technician, and oh cleaned.
Our heating and cooling system was coming 20 years old and we noticed the past couple months the air-conditioner had been maintaining so we had it checked and found out we had been low on Freon and had a leak in our machine. We believed repairing and buying some time but we're happy we chose to review their own recommendations. Positives: our brand new system is more comfy and very quiet. Due to the sort of system we upgraded to, it is. Also, we're looking ahead to reduce utility bills too (we haven't had It long enough to acquire a bill yet)! There were some promotions we were able to take advantage of too which made it much more easy to do now. My wife loves the Wi-Fi thermostat (Nest) and the fact they were able to transfer the air-conditioner into the corner of the home so we have more space to entertain at the rear of the home. I was but she said they were very clean, pleasant, and kept her updated. I was impressed with how every thing was to the metal, from the wires, and also the way they sealed up the ducts.
This is the second time we hired Academy Air to perform work at our home and again and we are very impressed.
Update:
The Electrician was very knowledgeable and professional. He recognized came by early on a weekend and explained the problems gave us aggressive pricing, and replaced panel and our damaged panels in a timely manner. Thanks again for the great service!
We knew we wanted to substitute the furnace because it was, what we believed, the best option. Helpful to our choice regarding which type of furnace, Brian instructed us and clarified the benefits, pros and cons of each. He was informative, was patient with our questions and factual. Brian gave us lots of his time as he knew that replacing furnace is a choice.
We have used Academy Air for decades. We knew we'd be needing a new furnace and decided we should shop around, so we spoke to and asked quotes from other companies. We set the job on hold for a few months, with the understanding which pricewise, the choices weren't that much different. A bit higher, some a little lower.
Could we've bought our furnace out of among the firms we had quotes from rather than Academy Air? We might have. However, for our family, customer service, reliability, respect, transparency, and dependability are the difference between just making a purchase and having the assurance that we've made the best choice not just on the service but also the gear and followup.
Our new furnace was installed a few days later. We're happy with our decision, and particularly that we acted before the cold breeze hit with the assurance of owning our home heating.
Last week, after our furnace check that was yearly, with updated information in functioning, we decided it was time to act on replacing our 17 year-old furnace. There was no sale. There wasn't any pressure to purchase a furnace when we chose to repair or to do nothing but wait before the furnace collapsed.
Dave Pitchers is an amazing GM and a great man. He does put their clients first and will work together with you. Give him a call, if you are in the market.
After finding out that they had been vented to the chimney we needed to replace our furnace and water heater and were not up to code once installed. Brian was thorough and very considerate throughout his walkthrough for the estimate. He discovered problems in the ductwork that were overlooked by other HVAC companies, and honored Academy's policy to match the purchase price on a quote.
We will definitely keep them in mind for future jobs.
The contractors completed the work immediately and showed up, maintained their mess to a minimum, and clearly explained all of the characteristics of our equipment.
We appreciate the time Zack took to compose. We believe in local and family owned companies. We realize the price of conducting business. Bottom line for all current and prospective customers, buy your own filters whether online or in a retail store. You'll save 400%. Always question pricing that seems out of whack because you could be expected to pay than your filters.
I have upgraded the review to 3 stars due to the intent to repair the policy and procedures. There.
Must update my previous review of Academy Air. Mason has gone ABOVE of supplying customer support my expectations. I am absolutely blown away by this business wanting to rectify my problem. This company was great. And I would strongly recommend them.
New owner is a good person as close as I can tell. Incompetence is continually impressed with by the employees and I won't ever use them again. AC cut so I called after the proprietor made good on yelp. Tech comes by nicely I can not isolate the issue but its electric. My choices were replace the wiring, both the internal and external wiring or the whole unit. 1k 2k and around 5k respectively. OK send a rep over we might need a new unit. Meanwhile, my wife calls Joe Schmo from you have never heard people HVAC, 20 moments in Sir, I see the issue. Sure enough I see a black cable with insulation that is . It was although I don't have any training in electric or HVAC.
Asking the gentleman what the harm is$150, (sharp departure from some grand) however there can be more damage from shorts. Long story short there was a ruined part he replaced as a result of the shorts for free. Academy's technology not only said pop the breakers until it dies because the unit is all but dead (pregnant spouse in the time) but doing so would do no harm to the system as a whole. Sure enough it did.
I would not trust this company. When they came out I guessed so I signed an agency agreement that I paid a few hundred for to find a discount my unit was toast. I will not enable them to complete the service agreement. Its awful. I'll throw a few hundred bucks ahead of their hands that are incompetent do fundamental preventative maintenance on my units.
I see a tendency Zachary. You're a good person, your company rather sucks.
Thank you Terry!
Happy, the support Terry supplied for us was outstanding with working and getting our new HVAC system installed.
Okay. I contacted office and they apologized to the information difference between the individual and them. I asked the technician as I do not need to work with those who do not care about their 23,, to leave.
I had Carl visited with my house that day and then he moved actions to look after everything needed at that point plus he decided that everything else installed before was working fine. He fixed it and found among the issue. I enjoyed the way he explained everything to me and also did the stuff which he might have left since he did not install it, as is.
Everyone makes a mistake. . .What matters is that who takes an extra step to mend that. Without responding to my emails / messages they might have gone however Zachary became the face of the business and took it into the closure to satisfy their client and I am happy to say that he has made a lifetime client for him. I will continue to do the same and have referred some of my buddies.
My experience with front office guys was a tragedy, to start with. I obtained a quotation called the office and scheduled an appointment for thermostat upkeep and humidifier installation in my house. The man explained me the same matters as front desk guys and showed up on time and when I asked him what he would install , he replied that he do not have a thing to install but can do maintenance checkup. What?????
I know that Zachary has sessions and some training planned for the team on the issues and I would recommend this business they are having and enhance them. As that's what everybody learns from, In addition, the corporation should not pay the cost.
This was the time I contacted Zachary S. and I have to say that he was very prompt, knowledgeable and took the initiative to look after my issue. I received a call from the Director of their business after 10 mins 3 days later and he scheduled the trip according to my availability. The technician came and installed everything once we tested it and it worked fine. He wasn't having the auto detectors etc., which Zachary reported that would be taken care after they have it in stock and third trip was finalized to look after that.
These 5 celebrities are solely for the proprietor Zachary S. due to their commitment and honesty.
Rico performed the service check on the furnace. He was right on schedule and performed.a thorough check and provided me with some invaluable information. He knows exactly what he's doing and was quite friendly.
This business is professional from; being on time for their skilled workmanship, courteous and respectful of my house, and appointments. My air conditioner was out for two weeks prior (dealing with a not-so professional air/heating firm ) to me contacting their 24 hour phone line. They came promptly the next morning and"honestly" told me that the actual matter. The technician asked that a Academy Air floor design air purifier be delivered to keep us cool before installation of the new machine in my home. It set up within a hour and had been delivered. What empathy!!! I've recommended Academy Air to all of my friends and relatives and that I will be a client. What I really like about them is they didn't string us along like another firm and they honestly diagnosed the true problem and that I really like their empathy for us. Academy Air is your best!!!!
Had out them service air conditioner - techs seemed type of"shady". Gave them sodas since it was a hot day and they threw the empties .
I recently wrote a review for Academy but Yelp has stated because it seemed to much like another inspection, that it violated TOS. The review they said it seemed like was my dads who isn't a Yelper such as myself but felt like the work provided was so far he decided to make a review. The review that I gave was actually very similar to his. My name is listed on the ticket and my number was listed as Academy as strove to contact me directly to hear my concerns (again). You may read Dave L inspection comprehension that before he wrote the inspection attempted to contact Academy.
Academy has become the go to so my dad decided to provide the company the benefit of the doubt to repair the situation. Staff tries to explain that they're by no way combative have never fully clarified their side. We attempted in front of a review was posted and nothing, although I love the effort of calling after a critique of mine had been posted.
