Thanks , it was valued.
Found these men on Thumbtack and Bill (estimator) came out and provided a bid of at least 8 hours, that was fine.
Ken came out on agreed upon day and did the job in 4.5 hours!!! And that he did an awesome job!

I emailed James. His reply was..."Ive given a $5 per man hour reduction". I wasn't asking about a reduction. I wanted validation. If they did do hrs of work, I do not mind paying. I answered back to James requesting validation. His 2nd response,"We do these failed snow removal accts in any way. Because they are layers upon layers of ice I was reluctant . That is why we bill per hour". The underlayer was not entirely frozen, and yes there was approx 24-30 inches of snow although on Friday, it was near 40deg For my readers. I answered to James and said I shall reluctantly pay the bill and post on yelp. His incredible response..."We're sorry for that you are angry about the support you received we shall discontinue all company with you in the long run per your request thank you"
2/20 Update. I visit a response was submitted by the owner. Here is my position. As you can see on picture of the original bill, the due date is clearly March 1st. I received an updated today bill is currently since now. Maybe the original bill was a typo, if so, the owner MUST notify the consumer of the mistake and agree to the modifications. They can't make a unilateral change without notice. As a consumer, you've got every right to wonder a job required and what was done. I ask everyone this, in case you've got a truck snow plow, does this take 1 hour to move the snow on the finish he of this street that leads into a driveway? Doubt it. Again, readers of the review, you decide for yourself. I don't have any issues of paying invoices, but I'll ask for rationale and validation when I feel I am being over charged.
It was for 2 individuals with 3 hrs of work and one person to get a snow plow to get an hour when I got the bill. I may be off base, but I'll let readers of the review decide after looking at the images when it justified 3 hrs of work with one other person using a plow.
I'll leave it all up to the viewers to decide if they want to conduct business with a man and his company who can not even validate the work completed and is prepared to brush off a loyal client. I won't ever use his services.
I am upgrading my review based on a current dealing with this provider. I requested a 1 time after the storm and call. I have attached before and after images along with the bill I received. Long story short, really dishonest in the way they conduct themselves. James is the owner and he is stretched far too thin. He's this business and a property company.
Again, I have used his services and James for more than 4 years so that I was a happy client until this current event so this is not a fake inspection.
Wow, Were do I start. . .In October 2016 Called James Fain to Remove 1970's fireplace stone, put in new rock on fireplace and boat lap the remaining wall (8X12). Was quoted 3200... And was told would be completed by Christmas for familly visiting. . .Its now Jan 18 and I have written out $7183.38 In check payments ( Yes I have all check numbers and Invoice numbers If you want them.) Job still not completed His 2 man team shows up around 11 days a week take 2 hour lunches speak on cell phones and package out at 3 pm. Each just charges $75 a hour. .
While I had been on the phone with the girl scheduling the fix, I also noticed in the list of items stated that they"rake". I scheduled the fix for the fence as well as a rake for many of our pine needles. When I had been waiting the arrival of our Handy Man, I got a phone call that said that there was a miscommunication with the schedule the day. An apology was got by me and had been told that my fix would be performed.
A tree branch fell and took out a part of our timber fence. The individual who I normally call to assist with our house wasn't returning my calls. I typed in weapon for South Lake Tahoe and moved to Yelp. Was just about once I thought to call a company, I didn't look at the reviews. I am glad I didn't call this fence firm, after looking at the reviews. I discovered that Handy Man Hotline had great reviews so I predicted.
I got an invoice via email, after the job has been done.
Before, I waited till I had to call and then follow up and have experienced miscommunication. In cases like this, the phone call in the time that I waited for support went a long way!
The gentleman who raked the pine fibers and mended my fencing did an outstanding job, worked hard and was considerate. I offered him something, water to drink and he said and smiled, no thank you, I have water.
So that the floor would quit buckling we needed to hire another contractor to come in and saw all of the edges/corners of the flooring.
When we purchased a vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe at February 21, WE utilized James Fain for our realtor. He is a great realtor and he is highly recommended by us .
Our error was hiring him as a flooring contractor...
I've ever seen.
The floor looks so bad that we will need to find another floor installed and is a year old.
We hired to install laminate floors. Because the laminate has been tightly installed, it was installed and cracked and started to buckle. We hired another contractor to have a look at the installment, which was in process, and he said it had to be sawed in the baseboards since it crack and would buckle if not given room to expand and contract. I contacted James Fain describing the job and he did not address any of my concerns. He dismissed me.
Selling contributes to 3rd paries. Doesn't address questions with message reaponses. Call others directly.
My Spouse and I have a Holiday rental in South Lake Tahoe. Handyman hotline has helped us in several ways: they have done more, Snow removal, emergency jobs which had to be done before the next guests arrived and job. Their prices are quite fair, their work has been exceptional. We've used them for a year now and also have plans to continue to utilize them. Without the handyman hotline, my spouse and I do not feel we could have ran such a successful holiday rental property that is big. Thank you for all your work.
Rudy is the When our 60+ year old water heater has been shooting sparks, he came out in a matter of 20 minutes to repair it. He was quite knowledgeable about the electrical issues that generally come together as well as cabins and even made a visit to buy the part to repair it.
We'll definitely be calling him for to plow our driveway in the future or any issues!
James Fain and his team are top notch! We've used them both for snow removal and builder work and they are responsible, dependable, and respectful of the home. I highly recommend them and their services for almost any home improvement or maintenance you may need. On snow removal particular, they got the snow gone before we wake up in the morning... Amazing!
So sorry to be disappointed after reading great reviews. After sending a fairly comprehensive description I never discovered. This lack of reaction is just why we think contractors and handymen are flakes that are such.
PLEASE contractors, should you not want the job, tell us. Let's, if you are busy. Refer us, if that is a kind of job you don't handle. Our feelings will not be hurt by you, you may earn our respect.
Chalk up another 25 year local who will tell as many homeowners as possible to use someone else, you can't depend on this provider.
Very responsive, ready and removed my wood stoves that were non-TRPA, ripped up old carpeting in prep and I will be working on my dual renovations with them.
This service must be joke a hoax, and the testimonials. I never heard back and called them twice. I patiently waited 3 times between calls until I called again believing they were busy. I'd say the 1 star reviews would be the testimonials and also the 4-5 star reviews are untrue. Do not waste your time calling.
Although off to rocky start, I first called 4 times at the summer of 15, using just 1 answer, and no show. I figured following hiring a plumber, an electrician, a painter, and a general handyman for matters necessary around the home, piece-mealing out it, I'd try. . This summer was a completely different experience. Calls were returned work completed, pleasant and skilled worker. I was pleasantly surprised. I believe since it is an agency so needed in this community, maybe they may have been overwhelmed. I plan on recommending them to everybody one who needs anything. This previous job was small but there is always something that needs repairing/replacing/renewing as knows. And also to find in all in 1 place? Heaven! Fantastic job guys.Thank you so very much.
I called several people and immediately learned most guys are about"Tahoe Time". I phoned and worked with Chris on getting some painting done in my place...
A couple of months back we called Handyman Hotline for estimates (it is essential to note that we are asking for more than one) for projects that we would love to begin on our VHR. We had several projects in mind and desired quotations for every project and made that clear to the contractor during our walk. After a few day, the quotation was sent.... And yes a"total cost" for all our projects which wasn't itemized. We trusted them (and their good Yelp reviews) and went ahead with them doing one of the projects although they would just say $45 per hour and not even gauge the costs of supplies. We got our bill, which they do everyday, and there have been charges greater than $45/hr. It was to get an electrician at $120/hour x two (as 2 people is always needed for any kind of jobs) making since but that wasn't even disclosed to people. We requested them to stop the project and requested that they provide us a breakdown or an estimate for this project but they advised that they will do this after the bill is paid by us. We have followed up with the contractor that I won't name names on several events that we would love to have a report on what was done from the electricians but NEVER received it. Nothing was received by us, if reminding us of this open bill. We were excited about working with them since speaking to them at the beginning they looked very professional and transparent. But beginning with the quote it went from that point. James is a real estate agent and it actually indicates that he no longer desires to support this contracting business. They may be good for projects that are quick that are small but don't expect ANY type of breakdown of price. Don't support this company as they are not reputable and bad follow up skills.
I used Handyman hotline for the next time. They have been prompt, professional, and got the job done professionally. Fix a light and my primary need was to spot a wall hole. They arrived promptly, when requested. He called to discuss choices. I paid online, and the project has been finished and finished. If I would love to get remounting the rod, which I opted to do and fitting paint, he asked, and he gave me a hint on remounting the rod.
I sent them a picture Now. They picked up one on their way, came within 1.5hrs of phoning (I had no heat!) . They replaced it referred me to a specialist when the furnace did not work in heating. Fantastic service, I will use Handyman Hotline and refer them to friends.
James and staff have helped me over the years with my vacation houses. He is responsive and has been very flexible in odd time and urgent requests. In addition, he provides real advice on what is required versus what is demanded. He had fair rates. His staff is knowledgeable and fair. If you require a handyman at tahoe I would recoomend those folks.
We needed a gas line. We have an existing line with a shut only needed the line ran off and attached into the fire pit. We predicted noone and 5 different areas returned our telephone. He let us know what the hourly rate would be and that they could do it the week's part. We received a call from Rudy another day asking if he can come by and take a peek at the job. He came within half an hour and he can do it right away. He got the supplies and went and it took him a really short while to finish for us. He did a fantastic job. I would suggest them to anyone needing stuff done around the home.
Highly recommend this company. I had quick phone response to set up an appointment, and also my plumbing issue was resolved anticipated. Communication throughout the process.
*painting
*etc..
*did all the interfacing and brought me to electrician, cabinet manufacturer
A toilet leveled out
*sealed pine doors
*Assembled all my furniture and moved it into location (sofa, multiple beds, night stand, garage shelving)
It took me some time to find a professional in Tahoe, but I understood he had been the one once I met James. He took my condo out of mid-construction (our contractor never finished the occupation ) and fully finished it. He's excellent at communicating and logistics. I couldn't believe how quickly my condo was finished by him. It was amazing. Some of the items were:
* Fixed a pocket
*Dump runs
I would recommend him to perform any type of man jobs that are handy.
* fixed caulking
