My overall experience with Roto Rooter was dreadful. December 24th the nightmare started at Tuesday December 23rd and dragged through 2pm. The first technician was here 6 hours and finally explained it was a town water issue. So called the county water man for him out to say the lines were fine and it was in the line from home. It is 1130 at night, the second Roto rooter man comes out. He too couldn't fix, but assured me that the man who can, will be out first thing in the afternoon. To attempt after being advised by the supposed man who could fix it that he's off for the two afternoon try to produce an excruciating story shorter, John rode in on his white horse to save the day.
The girls who manage appointments and the phone calls are condescending rude and unprofessional.
I advised NOT to call Roto rooter, unless you can be guaranteed your man is going to be John.

About an hour later saying it was likely to be $700 since he noticed the clog was farther away and had looked through his camera, he called me. I advised him to bill me for the trip and to stop doing anything. He became rude and livid. I asked him and he explained that he could leave it with my tenant.
I had a plumbing problem in my lease. The guy came out and quoted me $260 for auguring our toilet. He said since the home was my organization, that I was fortunate that hen't charged me 495 and the property was commercial. The property is leasing and residential houses is not my business. Red flags instantly.
After talking with my renter, he tried to rip off me. Please see the text trade. Check out their BBB complaints. It's enormous.
I would if I could give them a review.

First time using a plumbing company and the experience well! , over cost no regard for land, I and pore job performance have them do a job and find my self paying additional company to fi× the mess that they left behind

Called these to come out to provide a estimate. Man knew I couldn't do it myself since I and he took advantage of me. Even had the nerve to tell me he gave me a $100 Dollar discount installed $40 dollars worth of parts and $260.00 dollars labour total $310.00 and was at my home 40 minutes and just like I said he was planning to charge $410.00. The water was leaking a bit had me right where he desired me if you want to keep it honest call someone else!!!!

Got two telephone calls after I wrote this review but when I called them back nobody returned my calls as normal. And nobody was out to find out what they did to my neighbors lawn. Use them.

A few days after moving into my new-to-me home the gas was shut off and after reactivation the water heater would not turn on. Read the directions on the tank and then followed the instructions. Called Roto-Rooter and they did precisely the same thing. When I inquired if he could do diagnose it any farther he said that he doesn't do anything electrical but he"could" replace the thermalcouple for $350.00. Folks a thermalcouple is about $12-20 if this was the matter, and he did not even know. Yeah....NO!
I opted for them not to put in the thermocouple and they charged me $150.00 for a"diagnostic fee". Your technicians didn't more than I did by reading the directions and performing the same sequence. This really is a FREAKING SCAM AND A RIP OFF! WHAT DID YOU DIAGNOSE?! TO HECK WITH THESE SCAMMERS!!!

I am disappointed with quality of work and response time. There came A technician to resolve a shower clog, and immediately afterward my shower began leaking into the ceiling below. We called immediately to have a plumber come back to tackle the flow, but Roto-Rooter missed their appointment windows four times in a row. We called the night of - did not show. The following morning - we couldn't accommodate and the technician showed up shortly after the window. They rescheduled for the same night, 5:00 - 8:00, and they did not show. We again postponed and gave them to show - and they did not. We rescheduled to the morning between 10:00 and 8:00, and they did not show again.
The inability to bad and schedule workmanship on the first repair is unacceptable.

Please don't call them. I phoned them to get a toilet escape, they did encounter in a hour butttttt...
The individual suggested we dismiss the leak but my instincts said. Their guys came and opened water and the ceiling came down. The drying procedure was started by them and had one server not work. The entire time they miscommunicated stating they will have another contractor fix the ceiling back up. After more then a week of the ceiling and drying out I heard nothing back. Called themwent back communication. I had to call my insurance and get somebody else to fix the ceiling. Oh but they did call my insurance a lot to get compensated but only didn't communicate with me when required. With so many excellent companies this kind of service should not be accepted.

Totally agree with all of the comments regarding cost. I had been quoted $650 labour plus the price of equipment to install a new disposal. Fortunately I appeared on the internet"what is a reasonable price to install a disposal?" Also it. After some bargaining (he originally offered to give me $50 off) I was able to get down it, but I will NEVER call them again.

Our disposal broke and our spout bombarded on Thanksgiving. That night, roto-Rooter came out and fixed it. The serviceman was courteous and knowledgeable, and also did a fantastic job. I also called lots of pipes and Roto-Rooter was the one who answered. They should have been my first telephone.

Do not use this company!! $495 to snake a kitchen sink is a complete ripoff... When the technician arrived I met him in his van. I told him the sink required to be snaked & that is it. . He said it'd be $495, without even coming up to my condo to rate the situation. I told him that is ridiculous, I was charged around $150 In the past. I tried to call and speak with a manager and was told that they were at home today!

I have an appointment at a certain time ive been waiting for an hr no call no show still waiting so I call and of course they have an ignorant black bitch answering their phones so Naturally you know what happened next since she gotta Wise ass mouth I have one Also so don't play me that Is very unprofessional of them Not to even call the ppl that's been waiting for their appointments I guess we pose to sit all day till they feel the Necessity to Appear but that bitch needs to be fired ASAP or her ass does Not need to answer the phone and deal with customers period

After our laundry room flooded - and we couldn't figure out why - a plumber recognized the problem in two seconds flat and came out. He fixed It in 5 minutes and answered all our bothersome questions. Alex - the"master plumber" - is an expert. Definitely worth calling in the event that you have any pipes or water problems.

I received service. Their earliest accessibility was Sunday(12/30) involving 11am-3pm. I accepted that appointment. After the initial conversation I got on the phone with Rheem Manufacturers that it was under warranty and who then gave me the information about my own HWH and parts would be covered. I definitely had to be replaced per Rheem and then called Roto-Rooter back Saturday evening to inform them that my system was under warranty. I provided the dispatcher with the version & serial number of my precise unit in order that they'd be ready for my appointment on Sunday. I explained to her that the unit needs to be replaced and she said"yes ma'am they'll replace it" Additionally, I left my contact information Incase anyone had queries. The following morning, Sunday I phoned Roto-Rooter again to confirm all information was obtained about the HWH and to confirm if they'd replacing it. I spoke to a male named"Ola"(sp?) Who reassured me that they would have my type of water heater and get prepared to install a brand new one. Fast am the technician shows up to my house for our appointment and not only does he not have a replacement heater he knows nothing about the calls I made to Roto-Rooter to make sure that my experience would be handled efficiently. He mentions since places are closed, that sort heater can not be discovered on a Sunday. Basically we're going on a waste of time and night 2 of not having warm water. While the technician was there I spoke to a manager who said he'd call the technician and named the line. It has been 3 hours no call back and I had no option but to cancel service since the stores that carried my version HWH are closed. Thank you for nothing stress to an already stressful situation.

I've relied on Alex once I had plumbing(bathroom ) issues, but little did I know how much they overcharged. He replaced my water heater tank . So he has been to my house 3 times today. Recently I called to Repair my PRV. Where the water valve is situated, alex asked me. The entire time he spoke about how he is experienced he is and that he's the man. So how can an experienced plumber not know where the water valve is when he is to my house and flipped off it before in the garage. Well this time, he shut my water off working with the valve. After replacing the PRV the water could not turn back on. I stated because he didn't turn down the water that he didn't complete the job. He explained it wasn't his problem and that I needed to cover his services of substituting the PRV(which was almost double the price as normally priced). He was very rude when I was angry I didn't have water and left my garage a wreck!
Poor and expensive customer services!

My rating is 100% based on cost. I had a drain. I informed the technician what had occurred and that it should be a job, but I just wasn't sure how to mend myself. He quoted me $350 that I presumed was bc he saw a much bigger problem than I did, so I signed the form. He was done in about 10 min than it didn't perform the repair, and it took longer to compose the bill. Once I asked for some discussion he clarified that it would've been the same price when the repair had taken hours. They charge by the telephone not the difficulty or period of this ceremony. He provided me a $60 discount bc I believe he even felt guilty charging me nearly $400 for the easiest of tasks (but retained explaining it is business policy instead of up to his own discretion). So with an drain while I write this review and a sick-to-my-stomach feeling that has stayed until this morning I was left for a total of 333. Beware, don't use this business for tasks or better yet, just locate a firm who does not try and get away with hwy robbery! I understand I will not make this mistake.
After studying other reviews, I find this is business to standard. I hope you are reading this review BEFORE calling them rather than AFTER as you compose your own 1-star review (that has nothing to do with quality or service of work but simply bc of those outrageous pricing) My boyfriend informed me we might have replaced our own disposal program 4x for the price of utilizing Roto-Rooter.

Scammers. I call back the office and request them to contact the technician and cancel the job. They claim they spoke with him and cancelled the service. By the time I am getting to go to Home Depot and get the hose the technician pulls back up in the driveway using all the hose. I explain the problem to him and he tells me that he never received a call from anybody to cancel. After explaining it to him that he appears frustrated and asks me"so what's the issue". I tell him the issue is the cost and I don't feel as $300 is reasonable for only a hose replacement. Then he tells me"No, no it's not just the hose, it's the pump also. The pump is dirty and not pumping properly I have to clean it out" fine....he NEVER said anything regarding the pump till today only the hose.
Well, their latest trip was the last straw for me. Our sump pump in the cellar had difficulties and was shooting water out. My first instinct was that there must be a hole in it. And sure enough the technician gets here and me that there's a hole in the hose supports and shows. He gives me a verbal estimate for $269 + parts (a new hose) and literally tells me"I offer you no discount plus we up-charge is that ok?" Honestly that is where I should have kicked him out of the home. His discount announcement confused me especially since I said nothing about one. To him doing the job, I agreed and he gave me a statement to sign. I started having second thoughts because something didn't feel right Since he headed to Home Depot to get the hose. Over $300 to get a hose replacement? I priced the hoses online and also the exact one that has been in my cellar was only $11. Now I realize that's for such an easy fix and I decided I would do it myself.
I am shown by the bill the technician , he writes there that he made adjustments to/cleaned the pump + changed the hose. When I asked him when did he just repair/clean the pump bc he definitely did not do it as I saw him....he becomes combative but can not answer the simple question. The reality is that he charged me an insane amount because of it and did not do crap but change a hose. The 100 discount left a $214 charge to me. Prior to leaving, the technician tried to make light of the situation and asked if I was happy today. I told him. Then he says"next time I'll give you a good discount"...I told him there won't be a next time. And there won't be. Roto-Rooter and their business practices that are scammy won't ever step foot in my home again. They have lost a longtime customer.
So I am believing he is going to repair the pump instead of only turn a hose out for $300. Nope. Took him all of 5 minutes. Never once attempted to"clean" the pump/motor like he said he would do. Was put water into the pit where the pump is that gets it started. He literally did nothing but change the hoses out. So of course I have a problem with this. I called Roto-Rooter plus they get a supervisor on the line. I explain my issue and they tell me to ask the technician to call his supervisor so I can explain to him. The plumber gets angry and wants to argue with me and justify his cost, gets upset and unkind to his automobile...I go back inside and finish speaking to the manger in my end.
They essentially tell me since he's already done the"job" I have to talk to his manger on his end about it. After the technician's temper tantrum he rings my bell and hands me his mobile phone with his supervisor on the line. Long story short the supervisor apologizes to me and chalks it up for a language barrier (the technician had an accent). .and provided me a $100 discount. I believe he understood exactly wtf he was 26, while I really do think there may have been somewhat of a disconnect in communication.
That's all. We've given Roto-Rooter our business for well over 10 years. They appeared to at least get the task done while they've never been the cheapest plumbers by much, over the years.

Plumber has been attempted and alex to resolve a sink in my home. Charged me 350 + parts and said he'd return in two days and replace out of a part he had to buy. I had three additional tiny tasks to mend in the home he did and that I paid for all of it. I had a flow that required a water main to run to my home and has been identified.
My expertise is based on service that is terrible and expensive. Run away and do not utilize them.
The plumber had no experience with this and could not mend a sink faucet that is easy. He called another plumber out of roto rooter due to my pipe which had to be run. They offered me $7800. I've asked for a refund in my sink but no reply from the office.
Terrible company, horrible inexperienced plumbers who shouldn't be in the business. I had 2 opinions on account of this problem in my home and both cried with roto rooters.

All over my brand-new floors exploded, as the very first time home owner. I phoned Roto Rooter replaced the water heater, also advised me a spout that was in the cupboard also needed replacing as well as some pipes and we had to add an expansion tank. This occurred March of this past year and I paid my $3500 invoice and went about my way. Fast forward to now, I had a leaky bathroom and known as a local plumber to take a look, we got to talking and I asked him about things I need to see for so my floors don't get ruined for a third time and he inquired where my water heater was, '' I told him I just had it replaced. He looked at it, said it was a generic brand out of home depot. He asked how far I had been charged for it and was appalled to learn how much I paid. Please don't be like me and fall for this scam of a company. I will never be fooled again. My fault for not obtaining other quotations, but shame for taking advantage of your customers Roto Rooter.

The dude couldn't even discover the access line. He explained there was not one. Really? Omg, I had to direct him. He stated there were roots in the line and there After he obtained it. That is news to me. Needless to say, I called another plumber and had him leave. The following plumber hydro cleared the line and said he could take care of the roots... when there were any, but there weren't! There was not anything visible when I looked down the tube and he showed me the line was clear. He charged $300. Mr. Rooter's cost quote was only to snake the line, not hydro wash it use a camera. It's why I hate using large companies... such as Mr. Plumber who quoted $1,500 to change out the inside of our 5 bathrooms ($300 ea). You understand a kit costs $20 and I will do it , right? Jeesch!
Inferior pitfalls! I called to get a main drain. The guy comes 1.5 hrs late. In order to clear the drain he must get it he states. He says the price is offered $530!! and to get access What!? The line is beneath the home with straight access to the street. It is marginally lower than street level, so I have had this problem before. They obtained the line from beneath the home. What jerks!
