My wife and I had Sila do a high velocity air system. Are we happy we did! They were excellent and remarkable . They came out multiple times to answer any queries we may have, when we got quotations. They had one of the install guys crawl through our attic and come around.
We did consider them for some miniature breaks in our cellar. They arrived on the end of these estimates. We ended up with another company who had done a great deal of work for a relative that cost us about 40% less. However, that turned out so I wish we had paid the extra and gotten Sila caliber and expertise.
We got a care program with our system, will see how it goes in the long run. The tech came and said we do not need a filter and I don't have any reason to doubt him.
Throughout the project they didn't charge us a penny more when they had to do workarounds ran every change by us, and even fixed a leak that they discovered on the roof. Their guys were professional, tidy (they wear boot covers so they do not dirty your floors), and put all their gear EVERY day.
BEWARE!!These people don't want to do the job! Or perhaps just do not take too long having the doorway...
I am unsure as to how it is likely that I didn't get service now as it took about 7 minutes to create the relation between the person I who waited for the technician and the technician.
The technician stated he had rescheduled the appointment and the person on the phone said they would have to wait to see what technician wishes to do.
Recently had a technician come to service my house. Doorbell rang at approximately 12:05pm. I got an email at 12:12pm stating that I was a no show and would have to reschedule (my cell phone had died while in the office). I contacted the person who was at my house waiting for the company and the technician to assure the connection was created.
Pricing and more detailed description follows.
Thank you for the opportunity to replace your existing heating and cooling system. Below are the basic Actions
Furnish and install 1 Condenser & Air Handler
All electric.
Instead of honoring their contract they pitched me a growth then utilized all the typical earnings approaches to justify it. This is EXACTLY what I was seeking to avoid. Exactly the scenario I labored not be in. I then had a con call with the estimator and his boss. That did not go over well. The boss pitched me the same script though, on the contract it says:
Trust me I wish to help when I being honest, I'm expecting to have that career talk with you and because you appear to be a great guy. Just know I'll do my best to make it up for you but that's the run down. If you don't need to move forward I understand but I'm about if you can call back."
All essential ductwork to tie in unit that is new Start up and test. This job will require about 1 day. The installation will be scheduled at your convenience, and you are not required to remain at home during the installation.
Dear Chuck,
"I wish to put all my cards on the desk here. I know you aren't happy I would not be either. Here's the thing and my management has my back on this. You have been the most honest with me I have dealt with in this business so I've broken over a few rules to get this done to you at the lowest cost. I'm not likely to do 5 year 0 percent because we get charged 15 percent for that. I'm also not supposed to have a job scheduled before using a signed contract and funding complete so I'm really pulling out the stops because while we may possess this hiccup before the job is completed, each other firm will have them afterwards and I know you don't need that.
MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO AVOID THESE FOLKS AT ALL COST.
The installation supervisor comes over to get a look at the 15, two days after. He spend almost 45 minutes in the home, looking in the attic, on the roof. I explain to him that the contract included substituting everything that I could see in the attic with new. Approximately 1 hour after the install managers visit I receive the following email that turned my stomach. That can be from the estimator/salesperson when I was informed that the 1 piece of gear not contained in the contract was a piece of gear:
So at the end of the day Mike is the best in the business and we did not really understand exactly what he said. You have some of ductwork in such poor condition that it is going to need us labor and custom components to fix it for you correctly. We are already 1k under cost at this point and they are simply not going to let me shed anymore than that.
To do so right I will take off $500 and add 2000. It's possible that by fixing this issue you don't even require the minisplit and if you do I'll give you another great deal.
I had a terrible experience with Sila. They sent an estimator who spent almost one hour out. He sent me a proposition for about $10,400. Prior to his sending it I needed to make sure that we were speaking the identical language and had no confusion concerning the contract. I inquired, and he promised that"everything in the attic and on roofing the would be replaced with new gear. We never flush, we constantly replace." That made me feel comfortable.
Regards,
Remove and recycle Current gear
I used this provider before to diagnose an air conditioning problem at a house I own. NEVER AGAIN. None of my renters were available to satisfy the technician, and so I offered to do so, even though I also have to work, but OK. I was given a 3-hour window (1-4 pm to be precise ) and told I'd receive a phone call 20 minutes before he arrived. At 4:15 I finally received a call from the tech saying HE WAS AT THE HOUSE. No phone call and he's overdue, to boot. He wishes to reschedule. Forget it. Sitting all day waiting for a phone call that never comes around is not my idea of fun, especially if I will be the one footing the bill. You have lost me. Ridiculous.
I had them come in for regular maintenance on a single AC unit, and to fix a freezing coil difficulty with another one. They receive A+ for customer support -- polished/professional, both before and during the trip. I canceled on notice and they were okay with it. The technician explained things well.
They did performing yearly checkup on the unit which wasn't broken.
I would still give them a four star, however. . .it didn't appear to me made any effort. He said I would need to pay for a trip, as he didn't bring the ink that he wants to mix in with the refrigerant, so they could see where the flow is.
They did offer me a $100 discount total (after I inquired, just before paying), so now I wish to change the evaluation to 3.5, but general, I have a bad taste in my mouth.
Not satisfied with the way they managed the one that was accumulating ice. I believe I overpaid. I had been charged $175 per pound as a few had been lost due to a leak in order to add refrigerant. I later discovered that this unit takes older kind (R22) that has gotten more expensive, but still the quote was quite high. He said he charged me to get one pound than he used, but that is still a large mark up. Especially because that was the total cost of the refrigerant, not like he had to bill for showing up or for labour, since I paid $100 for diagnosis of that unit.
Had business come in for winter maintenance. About 3 hours later service I realized that furnace was not working, business closed at the point. Called emergency contact number and message that was left. After an hour with no answer I called multiple times leaving no answer to message. Thank goodness temperature did not go below 55 degrees but we've got two small kids and it is completely unacceptable that a tech leaves a house and they have.
Had to call manager next day and he did not have a lot to say except for give me his cell number in case it happened again. Ha!!! When it exhibits this level of negligence an incompetence, would never use this company again. You put my family at risk and all you can do is say sorry. Complete fee for support should have been refunded for a screw-up as large as this. Nowadays you have permanently lost one client and people are aware of your customer support and negligent business practices.
Sila is great!! Always quick and prompt! I know they do not like to do care song ups over the weekend and because I was off Monday I called same day if anyone was available to find out and they said somebody would come 2-5. The office called me and stated the tech was completed early and when they can come sooner. . .great! The tech was really professional, kind, and fair. Not like companies that try to make you buy small things here and there. I've been using this company for about two years and they have always met with my criteria.
DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.
UPDATE: This is a FRAUD of service and uses illegal intimidation tactics to accumulate bills they should have accumulated during service. I haven't had a opportunity to pay my invoice for the"service" they eventually* left (read below for initial review). Their technician refused to accept my credit card info, although I attempted to pay them on site. They tried to contact me after and saw my Yelp inspection. I believe any business can make mistakes, and I judge them based on how things are fixed by them. Before paying my bill, so I wished to be in touch with them. Mouse and cat game of all telephone calls ensues. Then I opened a letter today from them comprising a FAKE legal document (no case citation, no attorney list, no court recorded, and no signature on this FAKE record ). This is a type of intimidation and ILLEGAL. When they did submit this FAKE document, I would instruct my attorney to fight it because their statement on it comprises patiently FALSE and defaming information (They promised they were being fine and knocked $100 off the invoice. I PAID FOR A COUPON THROUGH YELP AND UTILIZED IT. In addition they assert that their technician arrived punctually. False. I started calling their FAKE 24/7 service line in the morning. Messages left. Messages left through Yelp! FINALLY got through to them a few hours later in the afternoon. They also sought to intimidate me and take this FACTUAL overview of my miserable experience together )
These people are a lot of scam artists. Used them last spring, when purchasing a"$50 off" Coupon for $25, just to be informed after it was not legitimate for the service I needed. Fine. My AC was checked by them and I was told I would be called to schedule an appointment. No call or email ever sent . Today, the ignition on my furnace won't turn on. I have called the supposed"24/7 emergency number" and have twice been punted to voice mail. I left a voicemail over an hour. Since I'd love to not freeze to death, I will be using another reliable service along with calling Better Business Bureau about this imitation maintenance plan I have roped into.
So. Based on the way they fixed my furnace, and settled my difficulties, 4 stars. I will be giving them another opportunity, and hope to give 5 stars to them next time I want their services.
------------
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: I have changed my one star review to four. The 1 star was because their 24/7 emergency number n't worked as advertised, and then due to some bill collecting tactics.
But once I eventually got through to somebody, the genuine on-site service was quite good (the technician came when he said he would, found the problem and fixed it immediately and efficiently).
Every company screws up. People have bad days, or something goes wrong. I get that. I prefer to judge companies on the way in which they respect me as a customer and how they create those mess ups right. I was quite happy with the resolution and the apology and the promise from the long run to settle a bill.
These people bullies and are scams. FIND SOMEONE ELSE FOR HVA
Sila = UNRELIABLE
And then, in response to my complaint to them and on here, I received a call from a gentleman named Micheal. He not just listened to my complaints, but worked together to find some steps to ensure what I experienced wouldn't be repeated for anyone. He repeatedly apologized for Sila not living up to its reputation in this 1 instance, acknowledged my insecurities, and took my concerns seriously.
Sila did not show up at the time. Worse, I phoned and spoke to Evan, who told me"the tech is around the corner parking the vehicle." The tech did not show after waiting for 30 minutes longer. I phoned back and they kept me. Unprofessional service, and as a result, Sila has forfeited my extensive DC-based network of home owners and my business.
Before a Sila competitor flagged their cost to perform the replacement, and the same two capacitors as likely to fail, it took? $72 for its heat-pump, components and $60 for its AC/furnace included.
Checking online, I found that the capacitor is a part--the heat-pump capacitor more at $45. So these bozos were going to bill me $225+ for reveal to me a part that took the tech a total of 15 minutes to remove, then re-install when I would not agree to his price?
For 2 or 3 years I used Sila for my own twice-yearly HVAC inspections and had no complaints until one of their technicians told me that I needed a capacitor substituted in my furnace/AC (the atmosphere exchanger) and yet another capacitor within my heat-pump (motor/condenser). The estimates were 250 and $300 respectively, labor and parts, when I asked how much to swap out them, but the tech also stated that the quote was only great if I consented to do the job right.
Buyer beware. Sila has pretty aggressive pricing for service, but they will charge all that the traffic will bear for anything else.
Sila's team serviced my Mitsubishi mini-split systems thoroughly and cleaned! They were professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. A service plan was purchased by me and they are highly recommended by me!
I contacted Sila, when one of our gas furnaces went down on a chilly afternoon March. We have used them and have found the service response time to be excellent. I especially appreciated the options our technician, John Gulstrom presented. He was excellent In a fix and suggested ways to save money. We were able to use a yelp voucher. Thank you John! Well done. . .we enjoy all of it.
This past summer I had a flood in my condominium that required replacement and removal of the water heater and my HVAC system with a water reduction support. I contacted Sila to do the job. Throughout the process, the Sila customer support team, and Leslie in particular, were wonderful. They were flexible and responsive to my scheduling demands, and made sure the work was done right. Sila substituted the part the next day and came out immediately after hours to address the flow, As soon as an adjustment was required to fix a small pipe escape. The HVAC system works better than everbefore. I am thankful to them!
I would suggest Sila for anyone searching for a go-to, dependable company to look after emergency and routine requirements!
Our HOA has used Sila to support our condominium for the previous five years, for maintenance and occasional repairs. The company has provided support that was excellent and we've been completely satisfied. The technicians that do the house calls are educated and professional.
I made an appointment with Sila to do up on our AC units. Guy checked out all three components of our home. We have some units 20 years which barely worked. He did a fantastic job explaining options for replacement, repair and potential next steps. we could begin on the process, he even scheduled an appointment. I will definitely sign up for a maintenance contract based on this trip.
Had these men about a week ago. Service was cleaning vents maybe not for putting finger prints and marks. Sloppy work. Promise to wash your hands and observe the marks in my walls, and I promise to get better paint. Needed from dragging the cable round the corner of my wall to stop the young man. Left fingerprints on the ceiling. I too received the spiel of having some extra work and it could be cheaper if they can do it right then and there (to put you on the place ). Maybe not or Perhaps some facts, I wasn't prepared that nighttime to lose an extra $1500
2years and a customer.
Sila is the very best. After walking into the laundry room and finding a pool of water on the ground, I discovered Sila and ran into my Angies List account. Everything I turned out to be a technician who called me back immediately expected to be an crisis service/repair and walked me through a temporary solution to avert a costly crisis service. Whew! The day he saved. Cause let me tell you, I wasn't excited about telling my husband that a brand new HVAC unit fritzed out after a year. There was A repair service scheduled during normal hours and problem solved.
We set up a service program and very happy to have done so. We never need to call and program, we receive calls that we're due to have a tune-up. Wonderful to not need to keep track.
I asked if those issues were normal, have txted photographs of questions, and received replies within an hour.
We had plumbing fixes and I casually said that our boiler n't worked well.
So we are really disgusted their service over the years contributed to our boiler's decrease.
And today we are horrified when they washed the HVAC they never bothered cleaning the collected grease OFF the motor. It makes a BURNING odor once it kicks in their tech said that was normal.
They came out twice in a couple of years to wash boiler and hvac.
The plumber that is new is interested in everything and is a little bit of brainiac.
Do not use this organization.
He inquired why the tank had been drained and pointed out different things that SILA must have done or noticed and looked at the boiler.
Our heat broke, and with the cold weather we were very worried about getting it fixed in time. Sila came within a few hours, and our technician was extremely informative and helpful. He also fixed the issue and showed me some other fixes I could do on my own. I would recommend them later on!
Billy showed up early, our dog loved him, and was very professional, conscientious! He explained each of the fees up front so there would be no openings, and was very thorough. Was very happy with the support, and happy that I found my new HVAC business.
What a great experience. I have had difficulty finding HVAC companies that support Inverters, and I happen to run. He was very considerate and confirmed they did, so I chose.
