We are in the process of remodeling a laundry room (adding a sink, tub and water heater). I found the company to be very professional (they called me the morning of the appointment to affirm, the plumber (Ramsey) was there on time-and very friendly and knowledgeable. We have remodeled several houses over the years; we've worked together with firms. Like every business, it comes down to the staff as far as our experience to date using the Olin.
We known as Olin Plumbing to get a running toilet. No huge deal, right? We had someone come out and he said we had a part that is new and charged us. The following day the bathroom completely stopped working. We had a problem with the bathroom not working it was running. It stopped working. Said it'd be $550 bucks and I had a bathroom that was totally new. He explained,"this bathroom is taken." If the bathroom was taken, why did not the man recommend replacing the bathroom? Olin plumbing tried to state it's the very first step in fixing a issue, so Olin, you are willing to invest $300 to correct someone the last man said was 50/50 to function on a bathroom I could be completely new for $400???? RIP OFF
The man that came out to repair the toilet attempted to bill me. He threw our employees phone on me and hung up on me, when I told him no way he desk and left the salon. Oh yeah, that was after he threatened to tear out everything. I have water gushing from the bottom of my bathroom when it flushes and it's totally unusable. THANKS OLIN, you managed to take a bathroom and make it unusable.
DO NOT call Olin plumbing if you are experiencing plumbing issues, they are by far the worst. Fist off, as somebody and break everything, they just guarantee their work - Friday, so if they come out on Friday the following day, and it breaks, we'll you are screwed.
In any instance, ten years after purchasing my house, I got the letter to demonstrate proof of compliance. The letter included a list of 40 or so companies who can perform the test. Olin Plumbing was on the list, I visited their website, and for a rate of $25 if no repairs are necessary, I could order the testing through their site, unlike most plumbing businesses. Their site advises they contribute any profits over the price of the test to All Childrens Hospital in St Pete. I put my order on a Sunday evening. I had an email reply asking to scan and email a copy of this City's demand letter, which I did monday morning. They performed the test Wednesday, day before Thanksgiving, submitted the results and sent me a statement.
Anyway, a backflow device is something inserted into the water line on the customer (resident) side of a water tubing to prevent water from flowing back into the system once it's gone through the meter. In my case, irrigation system and my lawn hose spigots are all isolated from the remainder of the house using a backflow prevention valve. Unbeknownst to me, Tampa's City needs you to have your backflow devices tested per year. Obviously nobody does this, since nobody I know had received this order.
I got a wonderful letter. This was a harshly worded letter advising me that I had 14 days to have a"backflow test" performed along with the results sent to them, or they'd begin fining me. I obtained the letter Saturday previous Thanksgiving. Really?! I've got 14 days to test of, with the clock running at Thanksgiving week, and I will get fined if I don't comply.
Difficult to complain about that ordering of this service delivery of this service, they did the work, I paid my $25 and got the City of Tampa off my back.
Saw David R's review of Olin Plumbing and we had been confronted with the exact same problem - a backflow preventer test that needed to be performed within 14 days.
Many plumbers that offer the exact same service and has been quoted costs ranging from $49 to $180 only for the evaluation were checked by me!
I saw Olin's reviews on Yelp as well as AngiesList plus they charged just $25, What was commendable was that they were responsive and very professional. They came out the very next day and done the evaluation and after I made the payment, they informed the town that we had"passed" the test! Given this experience, I have no hesitation in recommending Olin. Their service on this aspect was exceptional and I presume that this goes to services.
I heard of Olin Plumbing from Mike Calta. Now doug came out and repaired a clogged kitchen sink. Last night, I called and they came out first thing in the morning. Quick and friendly service. Would definitely recommend!
RUN AWAY!!!!!! Extremely disappointed in their service. To the point, don't trust their"guarantee". Unless it is Monday through Friday, 8-5 if their work fails, as it did in our case, they won't honor their service guarantee. If your plumbing crisis occurs when plumbing crises occur - you know, just like when you home in the morning, day, or weekend using the pipes - you get to pay full price for them to come fix their mistake. Not helpful when water is pouring from beneath your bathroom, destroying your hardwood and walls.
Good is a guarantee when you get this type of service. Called a rival who had been efficient, clean and instantaneous. Spent an additional $300. To mend it.SHAME ON ALL OF YOU !
I'll attempt to make this a brief. I'm out of almost $1,000. The guy ripped a chunk of wall supporting the vanity sink and left a mess for me to clean. They alleged he was fired by them. Had another guy come out to scrutinize what the former employee had done..etc had him look at fresh leak in garage in which washer was (I had attempted to fix it myself & apparently did a good job since it stopped leaking as he went to check it out). After he left, I discovered that I couldn't locate my plumbing tape spool that I left on the washer....gave him the benefit of the doubt still cannot locate it. Anyhow, more problems developed and they shipped yet another guy out. I discovered leaks in the toilet which never had occurred before. Now leaking behind that same wall.Had the spout replaced & was lead to think this could solve the dripping issue and was billed $195. It continued to escape as this plumber was departing told him. His reply was boundary line nasty & said the escape stopped from behind wall & not there to repair any add'l leaks. He had already left when I discovered that my brand new spout I purchased from Lowes was lost. Another plumber, Mike, that had been the nicest of all of them was delivered by them. He said All escapes were unrelated & that I needed a repair where the handle on bathtub is for $285. Brought me a spout and that I pointed out it was not the one the guy took without my consent. He had placed a poor one instead. They mailed me a check for this that was not signed so that I had to push all the way to Ybor City in a really nasty neighborhood (I am a petite girl ) and have them sign it. Went and cashed it and hope it's good. The teller couldn't tell me for sure as they (olin) utilize a different lender. Never will I use these folks again! What
Mark did an excellent job! He was very professional and on time and honest regarding prices and the service. I would suggest Olin plumbing.
We had a pipe. All we wanted was a simple repair. The plumber replaced the pipes all. The elastic pipes were removed by him. I'll need to pay to have into the pipes 20, now if I want to replace the water heater. I inquired Olin if they would substitute the water heater for free if it goes bad. He refused. I do not recommend this plumber.
They were fair and prompt. Came to fix a problem. Couldn't have more pleased. I'd say that their technician (Mark) was superb.
$200. He was here for 38 minutes! Completely ridiculous! I am not likely to be using them . This was highway robbery.
Joe with Olin would be welcome in my house anytime to fix. They take great pride in their customer service in addition to their own knowledge and are honest and solid. Up front and honest. These days, hard to find.
Terrible experience. I had been rescheduled for service. When the plumber came to my house he had been disrespectful. Telling me that I brought cheap gear and he could have got me a better deal. He was angry because he had someone else's truck. Told me that the softener tank was defective. We phoned. Said he had to keep checking his phone as he's planning a honeymoon. It was easy to see he didn't wish to be there or perform the job. After complaining he gave and moved back to his truck. I politely told him to depart. I phoned Olin and the very first thing they asked me was when I believed the revised quote was fair. Unreal.
Well the billed me stated I was refunded by them, they did not, she is says it's all good on our end and she will start looking into it in the afternoon. Also I should call if it's not fixed tomorrowI won't forget! So we will see how this plays out, won't use them
Now highly disappointed in the lack of professionalism. Judy left me with a message at 10:05 that Mark was on his way. I called back at 10:20 to confirm, and she told me it was too late, that Mark had knocked on my door. Because I was out working, that is not true. Asked if she would contact the technician and send him back. She said no. The majority of the positive reviews are about a plumber called Joe (who was not discharged to my telephone ). Where this business would be without him, one has to wonder. And I gave Derek, the owner, an chance to examine my experience via phone. He instead relayed Judy, who relayed that he was not thinking about doing business with me to me. Very disappointing, particularly for a nearby business.
Great company! Called at 8 pm call on a Wednesday night back was at 8:15pm morning and appointment was setup for Thursday. Scott came over observed the problem and went to function. The work price $195 less a $30 coupon, I am please with expertise and the support we were provided by that business. I really like the fact! Thanks Scott for relieving us!
Service was quite unprofessional and overly priced. I didn't care just felt like the guy doing the work hated his job. Because my main sewage drain backed up on the house built in 98 I called. The plumber arrived and we inundated the machine to induce the backup which regularly plagued us. He inquired if I had a main relief valve outside front. Since I am not a plumber I said"I really don't know" and he then informed me that to allow him to try to find a relief valve in my yard he would have to bill me $175. If he was not able to locate one he would still bill me and he then would have to pull the toilet and go in that manner AND pulling the toilet was an additional charge. After a conversation I advised him to go in through the toilet. I let him do his thing with the machine and he informs me that he"thinks" he got it. I inquired whether it would be visible he said the device didn't pull back anything so it has to have been pushed through the main sewer line at the road. I have a title and it do not make up a nickname if you do not understand. Oh yeah had a customers information on it. It comes with a 1 year warranty even if the issue comes back I'll call a plumber. The only positive thing was that the receptionist was nice and they came out of me phoning them that is why I gave 2 stars!!!, over two hours
