After months of putting up with leaky faucets in the aftermath of an unsatisfactory experience with an earlier plumber, we chose to attempt Alexander HVAC today, who also provide electrical and plumbing solutions. They did a fantastic job in repairing an external faucet and repairing both leaky taps in our house. They are detail-oriented within their review, supply an honest identification, and on top of that, quite reasonable in price because of their service! We highly recommend their service!
The costs were excessive. Almost $300 for wax rings and kit. I desired because I didn't have the filter 20, my water filter changed, but was quoted $205.
I have not heard back from them yet and filled out their signature form last week. I wouldn't advise hiring them if they can't be relied on to respond to a email by a new customer.
We've just purchased a home and are currently seeking to find future maintenance, in addition to our go-to HVAC company in the region for the job that needs to be performed.
At $1100 Imislead to acquire an up sell intentionally being taken advantage of.
Not pleased with experience. I have had these men out several times for minor issues and every time they've turned up when they were polite, were supposed to and did a good job. Excellent job in some cases, and I had no reason to call anyone other than these men.
I am all for people making money. Since there's a number of outlay in running a small business, if I had been billed $500 or $ 600 then I'd have been ok. At $500 or $600 I'd have what I had and they'd have made good money.

I was told it could be substituted for approx $1100 but it's an old unit (which it is) so I should really replace the entire lot, no point putting money into an old unit, etc.. Cheapest option to replace the furnace was approximately $3500. $1100 to fix, $3500 to replace... easy choice, right?
UPDATED - View below.
Tech diagnosed this (properly ) as a seized inducer motor. So that's why they get the two stars.
A new inducer motor for my furnace could be bought for approx $150. Could get it installed in about half an hour.
Update: informed the technician was new and didn't know the pricing structure right. The price should happen to be under $700. Changed the inspection as they reached out in effort to rectify the situation. I have no doubt they'd do a great job on anything I need, but it looks quite pricey. I'd visit, though then these are the men, if I had the money for white glove service. I don't.
The sales guy came out since we needed a brand new system... we got a quotation for a brand new system. Luckily I kept shopping. I managed to get 2 estimates. Model numbers on their own quotes. $4,000 cheaper! We travelled with 1 of those guys who were an DUKE Energy Provider that was approved. I gave Alexander a chance and they had no reason for this.
WAAAYYYY overpriced! I had them come out bargain with a leaky AC that needed to be replaced. Prices were ridiculous although the service guy was good. $300 a pound for R2. (Other shops half that)
The reason they are not a 1 is since Kevin the service technician was really nice and worked hard, correcting a issue for us before we replaced the system with the other team.
I called Alexander Heat @ 4:50pm through a search on a Friday, expecting to obtain an opinion on a quote I simply had compensated for. The nice ladies on the phone assured me to relax and that they would come across a guy to"swing by" very fast because he was right around the corner. . They knew I had just paid for a quote. I really called to check availability. The"guy" arrived, and it was dark. . And my device is outside. And I told him precisely what work had already been done. . He said okay sounds like the exact same job they would charge around $1100 for and my quote was $450. He did NOTHING at all to inspect my device. . Except use my image off my mobile phone with the device info & he sent me the quote which I told him I might get for less than 1/2 & that I didn't need his quote. He was here for about 3 min & he had to have been in the area because he beat me I had called 20 minute before. And he explained that regardless when he did anything or not- I would be billed $85 or "the boss wouldn't be pleased". He did nothing but get out of his car- I knew as it was dark, he could not do anything - but I was charged for the support and being plagued to pay it. Super angry... Feel taken advantage of. Not excellent.
-----------------------------------
3) I've evidence in which I TEXTED him my unit/part amounts so he would never need to OPEN it or try to work from the dark. Again, due to his first verbal quote from his previous client was DOUBLE $ because they refused to use a universal component - and they"ever only use factory parts". I know that from an excellent point-of-view on their part respect that choice. . However, my device is outdated, and I can replace the whole item for not a lot more than the quote.
Namely- the main facts that were totally untrue are:
The payment has been made. . However I hope that this was an eye opener as to how this proprietor manages disappointed clients (at least one) versus trying to make things right. Again. . Around $79
1) NO ONE TOLD ME they WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME $79 for the mechanic to"swing by" because he was already"in my area" as I was told. I absolutely wouldn't have agreed to pay again... That's why I was blindsided. I suppose it was my fault to be naive and not asking because I was angry & racing... However, what I did tell them was that I actually just paid to receive the identification done. I was just hoping somebody could do the job (for a fair cost ) on the weekend because the first technician I paid had to reschedule to mend 3 days later. However, I knew anyone coming out late in the evening in the dark could not perform the job anyway so not sure what the purpose was besides to make certain to take my 79?
This is my update for the review. .
And let it be understood, none of this has to do with the 84.73"service call". It has to do with helping protect the pubic and also about being transparent.
A couple of days after the service telephone, Incidentally, my mechanic did do the install using the section that is Universal, also he warrantied the job -- and it's been working excellent since! For 1/2 the cost...
The response of the owner was false & unlucky & unlucky for his firm that instead of trying to acknowledge ANY of my worries shows that he is not actually concerned about his customers' encounter - at least not THIS customer.
2)in addition, the quantity of time spent"36 min" is a joke, unless they rely drive time, time for me to arrive, and the 5 minutes we spoke and also the time he took for a quote when I simply told him no demand because iI wasn't doing business together bc it was too $$ just out of our discussion. We didn't have an exact appointment time, we were both just en route, forcing and meeting ASAP. The fact is that he showed up and I shared with him the images on my phone of my apparatus in the mechanic I had just paid to diagnose the problem- and read my quick notes on the parts/issues discovered. . The mechanic did tell me he explained there was comparable harm to exactly what my mechanic discovered and that he worked on a device exactly. So his client from detecting the previous tech I simply compensated + my description is where any material info came out.
This system stopped working before we were to depart for a two week trip. (Lose 1* for that.) They had a guy out within an hour who determined that the difficulty was that the coil had suspended up since the machine was low on refrigerant. The fix was $433 for example $150 for your after hours service call. Where the R410a went they return to determine. They could get no escapes... they then sent a fix manager out who additionally checked for leaks and found none... however he did locate a collapsed zone actuator valve. At this point we started to guess that the machine hadn't been correctly full of refrigerant to start with and that the lack of air circulation with the collapsed zone actuator together with the low refrigerant caused the freeze-up and this exposed the reality that the refrigerant had been reduced all along. So that my girlfriend (the one who knew the owner?) Called THEY and Alexander sent a person to test - NO LEAKS.
-----------------------------------
"The operator's response was false & disrespectful & unfortunate because of his firm that instead of trying to admit ANY of my worries whatsoever shows that he is not really worried about the encounter of his clients - at least not THIS customer."
I hired this business to replace the coil at a Trane double fuel HVAC unit. I paid them over $1,000 for this job, even though it was under warranty, The price included their labor and $370.08 (and tax) for 9 pounds of R410a refrigerant.
My specific response as well as the above - this man will say anything to avoid taking responsibility for that which any sensible person (like his technician) would conclude the facts are. Instead, he postulates that our system has a flow that is so slow that it was not detected by THREE professionals - and yet one that works for his or her company. However, if that were the case, then the machine could have been losing refrigerant slowly over an extended period of time - months, at least, perhaps years (because he first worked in which case he would still be culpable) but whatever the case, Mr Alexander ALSO insisted that the low refrigerant difficulty did not just appear because a zone actuator failed so there wasn't any heating being returned into the refrigerant - he claimed that was not the case because the coil could have frozen up instantly if there were a flow - he said"if it was down even 1/2 per pound it would have frozen up." And it did not until it was down 3 lbs. So which is it? Gradually leaking because the last time it was worked on by you, or it was not filled to start with if it was worked on by you? In any event it's your duty.
This isn't a standup guy. This company was recommended by my girlfriend and will not do this again. Avoid doing business together - they don't stand behind their work.
And as to your offer to perform the UV leak test"at a cost" - we were advised your technician could do a UV leak test when he arrived the last moment. Now you believe we'd pay you to fix something that the signs indicates you messed up to start with? You have shown us whenever there's a problem, how you deal with your customers, and we have had enough of it.
This is my response to the reply of the business owner. Let me start because it applies to our expertise well by quoting the response of another customer:
So my girlfriend phoned her"friend" Frank Alexander, the owner of the business, and went through this, and asked if they could pay some of the cost of replacing the R410a they seemingly hadn't put it. Frank blew off her, then off me when I requested to talk to fill in some information. He even suggested"perhaps some kids let it out"
No one had touched the machine involving the coil replacement and the episode, three licensed repair technicians failed to find a leak, however the system was down 3 pounds. The only plausible explanation is that it was not complete to start with. Alexander's own technician said that this was a sensible explanation, which the guy who had completed the job was no longer with them however, it was possible he did not fill it correctly.
I've been utilizing Alexander Heating for over 3 years now and I have contract together for 6 month tune up for my components.
The techs that have functioned over the years are on and professional time. The technician, curtis, was able to fix it quickly and came out yesterday when a junior technician could not figure the problem out.
The sole reason I did not give them 5 starts was because of the receptionist (do not know who it was) was sort of rude on the phone when I called to make an appt. She was very short and allow me to feel like she do me a favor to get last 30, me an appt even though I had paid in advance!
After being a loyal customer for years we moved ahead and purchased the"stress free 10 year A/C unit" after exactly 1 year it has stopped functioning and they won't support. BUYER BEWARE
This provider is A+. Did a wonderful job getting my house back together. Be patient, if they are hired by you. It took about 2 months to complete the task
Bam, Saturday stopped working. Since all failures self cured within hours, I figured I could wait until Monday. It got hot in here, about 86º, but we lived and a call was put by Monday morning for service. Service did a check of all of the causes, arrived at 2:45 pm and isolated the problem to a circuit board. The part is currently on order and will be delivered/installed in a few days. However, a rewiring and the mill will operate until then, allowing the place to cool down.
I cannot praise the service individual enough for their communication to us each measure in their process that is diagnostic. Furthermore, Alexander Heating emailed me a photo of this service person so that I understood who knocked on the door before they arrived.
The mill at the air handler would quit functioning we have had an intermittent HVAC problem over the last few months. This week it happened on many occasions and in calling Stewart's Heating for service discovered that they were out of business. I came out of Holly Springs who received ratings on Google and Yelp across Alexander Heating in searching for a different local HVAC service company. I asked them some fundamental questions through email and was pleased and thought I would use them the next time.
Day of installation was a 2 days later. I had been fortunate to get Julius and Phillip. They have been friendly and beyond specialist.
I haven't seen such professionalism in my entire life from an AC business. I would recommend this firm. Thank you for the work guys!!
Only had AC unit replaced. Everyone was a joy to use from the moment I sent my initial email yesterday until my device was installed. Sergio came out initially to asses. He made me feel confident about investing so much money with his or her company and is educated. He had been really easy to talk to to and friendly. Patient and pleased to answer all of my questions.
They worked hard all day in the heat and managed to have nothing but a grin on their face. This made me feel reassured they were doing a fantastic job. This company is very fare priced quick, and over perform an amazing job.
** Updated inspection ** I see where under the company has responded and stated this is a"fake review". I first off do not appreciate a business attempting to complete that simply because I refuse to reach out to them because first off you know where I live and second if I do not enjoy the support I get, why would I go back or have the problem"cared for" when in the beginning we were going to be taken advantage of? We resolved the matter with another organization and for the YEAR have no had some troubles. Mind you just charge a 55 fix when compared with the $7500 estimate your organization gave us.
I do not believe it should be required if I believe the service I received was less than adequate, 28, to go back to the exact same company I have left my 2 sense and will take my business elsewhere. Sorry my review is not something you care to hear and yes, you haven't rectified the issue because the quote was so ridiculous and we were going to be taken advantage of so why would I feel the need to speak for the Alexander Heating and atmosphere. The purpose of Yelp would be to leave an honest inspection and I did just that. You sorry you did not enjoy what we had to say and do not deserve my family's company, but that is certainly not a fake review.
Would not ever use this business. We had a man from here when our HVAC stopped working in winter. He explained we wanted new wiring and had a completely different HVAC. Told us we did not need to telephone our Home Warranty Insurance company because"most likely they would not cover it because they do not cover anything". Quoted us 7500 for a brand new HVAC and what we had done.
I thought that was odd so I phoned my Home Warranty Insurance business. They came out and the man looked for 2.5 hours to figure out what the difficulty was. Low and behold we had was a new fuse. Which cost us together with the trip $55 and that's it. Haven't had any problems. Don't recommend this business to anyone. I'm the first to admit I do not know anything regarding HVAC systems but for someone to try to con me. Go somewhere else or find another opinion if you use this business!!!
Air and alexander Heating has always provided exceptional service and my upkeep visit today was no exception. The tech (Jeffery) was prompt, professional and thorough. This Firm is highly recommended by me
I have been using these guys for the previous 2 years and have referred two other relatives to use them well. John Clark answers and has become the tech servicing my home this year, very friendly.
Also when quoting a price which you DO NOT tax labor costs!!! That's absurd. Investigate what they do research yourself and also tell you or your waiting to get conned!
These guys aren't educated and I will no longer trust them. I have had them come out to test to see my HVAC system was not functioning and was told that a large number of issues and the blame has been placed on a HVAC unit that was old I have in my house. I had been quoted a sum with a lot of fluff for a repair and has been recommended a unit and a start and has been given a quote for that as well. The quote I received was even more absurd especially since is a low end brand strategy and does not come near what it should have came out to be. It was a simple fix in.
Also every issue which was an issue was looked over by the company we went with in Morrisville.
I wouldn't recommend this company who is attempting to upsell their clientele.
Our AC went out on a Saturday. With the makeup of our loved ones this was a big issue. Alexander had a person at our home within 30 minutes, problem repaired within another 30, and a past bill. So that you are aware that it is the tech which has 22, they also send an image of your technician beforehand. I had been dreading calling a HVAC business and this went smooth.
The thermostat was set up by me . Because there was no warmth on the home, we were pushed to call them back to recommend them to finish fixing the system. Another tech came out late and after having a third issue, distinct from the previous two, added a $180 fee to the quote.
A ~280 dollar bill turned into a ~460 dollar one in the period of a few hours. The technicians maintained adding problems. I wouldn't waste my time or my money again; I will attempt to locate someone who can abide by the price that is quoted next time.
Based on the reviews, I was quite surprised. Called a tech for an estimate who identified the problem and quoted me for the fix. The tech then proceeded to fix the system didnt and the issue turn , so he explained that the thermostat was faulty, and for me to replace it since he would have to add $170 to the inital quote to fix it. I tried it after he left a rush and took his suggestion.
Incidentally, we were charged for the quote.
It had been really hot and we dropped our AC so my wife (who's nine months pregnant) schedule service from another supplier, who had put up an appointment and they had been a no-show. I yelped Alexander H&A and made the call. The wonderful receptionist, who took my call, walked to try before needing to send out a technician to fix my problem. I ended up needing to have a tech and Frank showed up when he was supposed to and fixed the issue, Johny about the place. This left us extremely pleased. Not to mention it made me look great, since I'm the one that came with the company that is perfect!
Ps. Your welcome soda, now can I come out of the dog home;)
I'd suggest them!
Updated Inspection May 2015:Thank you Sergio for coming to our care appointment early and of course professional as always greeting us by our names and having a smile! Alexander HVAC is represented by you nicely and we hope they treat you nicely! We signed up for a renewal of our care contract and we'll see you in the fall/winter. Our units keeping us cool and are currently running. Thanks!
