We are sincerely happy with Heating and Plumbing! . Our water heater showed signs of age and we knew that we needed to call a professional. He was able to assess the issue, and recommend options to fix our problem when Davis of the Hero team came. Fantastic job!
We were on Hero's (formerly Uptown) Joyful Home Club service program. After three decades of high pressure sales strategies for expensive things which didn't actually need fixing/replacing I just cancelled the plan. As an instance they told me that I needed to replace my furnace! It would last 25, and was just 13 years old! I predicted, after Hero taking a few readings from two different technicians. They read absolute zero carbon monoxide leaking and zero within the flue - signaling a furnace that is perfectly functioning.
I am so glad to be finally done with Hero - it's a brilliant marketing strategy to predict such an immoral and predatory company a"Hero". Look at the other reviews - they appear to all be 5 star 5 or even one celebrity. I assume that the 5 star reviews are from the company itself, and the true rating is 1 star. Do not utilize Hero - you will wind up overpaying for service you don't require.
I would if I could give a zero rating! Terrible company with such business program.
It was the hot water heater that I"needed" to replace for $8000 - after a second opinion and 12 weeks after we've had no problems at all. I constantly got second opinions and did not do some of this unnecessary effort.
Called and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment I called them to find a time that was better for thier coming and was told I was not in thier service area. I asked when I called if I had been in the service area and was promised I was in the area.
Where do I start? To start with Hero was contacted by us since our water heater detector locked us out and shut down. Alright probably just needed to become re-set, my dad concluded that to be the situation and was a plumber for 20 decades. My husband called Hero and was quoted $60-$70 bucks per hour plus some components. Our total was over $400 bucks, the hours are not recorded on the invoice, and the support technician didn't replace something! Not only that LADIES he left me (the wife) feel as a dumb woman who didn't know shit from her butthole. Continuously mansplaining and trying to sell me! I will not ever again call this company for any service!
Today I had McQuillan come and they found the one and only leak also found by CenterPoint and gave me a estimate commensurate with the escape! Your no hero of mine and require a name that is new. I felt taken advantage of when I had been the threat of gas leak.
This did not pass my sniff test so I had CenterPoint run and come test it and they found one infant escape and also red tagged my machine.
I live in Kenwood, a neighborhood where we're cost gouged constantly. I am attempting to get my elderly mother out of a house that is falling apart. I have a K repair surprise. I try to possess the furnace systems 10, Every year. This year is no different. Hero to the rescue to check on my water heater that seemed not to heat. I ended up using a plumbing repair. While there the tech offered to confirm the furnace pipes and bubble tested them. He then said there were leaks he needed to tag my machine and turn my furnace off. This led to a quote to replace the piping system for ~5K
Can not give a window but that I stayed home all day. They called and said they had too many other emergencies and kept changing their story. I had even done a trailer visit to plan the work. So two weeks down the tube and no work started! Don't use them. Perhaps not my Hero!
Unbelievably horrible service. This past 8, hero installed a fresh air conditioner. I scheduled maintenance. The unit has been sparking. The technicians can't explain why. They stated they'd possess the manufacturer execute warranty repair. Four phone calls later - no response, no phone calls to update me, without any air conditioner. It's fall. I would NEVER work with these individuals.
In addition, I have a Google review that states the exact same thing but since I recently came across more reviews/reports of all people who experienced the exact same scam.
Additionally, as I was reading our local monthly newspaper, I noticed that from the"From the Editor" section she had nearly exactly the same experience to the one we had. The tech reporting unacceptable levels of CO and attempting to hawk a replacement unit that is expensive, again. How intriguing! I've added a screenshot (non-relevant sections were eliminated ) in the newspaper.
We had some plumbing and also got a'complimentary' boiler review for a outcome. They arrived in, maintained there were and there was a harmful quantity of carbon monoxide. Proceeded to lock out/tag out our boiler and then attempted to sell us. Obviously, we are upset because we believe there is a CO flow and it is harmful to be in our house so we buy into the suggestion that we want. The HVAC man leaves and we do some research on the boilers that Hero is compelling and they have horrid reviews. Like horrible reliability and not at all near the efficiency they assert. We decide to phone around for another opinion. Following a visit from a company that is different, ends up there is nothing wrong with our boiler at all and the CO'leak' is currently going out the chimney, and this will be where it is supposed to be. The seals that couldn't be repaired were repaired and we had been advised we've at least 15-20 years of life left on our boiler. They attempted to use a CO leak's anxiety into purchasing a 15k boiler program to scam us.
The'good' testimonials on Google or similar sites are clearly curated also. Within hours of my review I was called by Hero to talk about it. NOPE. They could offer pipes that is free and that I would not alter it.
We were paying Hero per cent to get a contract for"preferred" status. The very last experiences persuaded me to get somebody instantly although I was never completely satisfied. The air conditioner wasn't working. They sent one of the assumed"top" repairman out on a Friday morning. He spent just about ten minutes and then told me the power saver for the county savings plan was malfunctioning and I need to call the utility company and get it disconnected. I had that done the exact same day. Still, no air conditioning- therefore the Hero was incorrect. Called the next Monday after an uncomfortably weekend. Another"Hero" came out Tuesday and said the air conditioner was"taken" and needed to be replaced. He put up an appointment for a sales rep to arrive at the house and present us with options (pitches) to get a brand new air conditioner. I predicted one of Hero's competitions and delayed. They said I had one poor part that would be at a nominal cost to replace and came out. So I have been enjoying cool atmosphere ever since and went with this business that was brand new. I will never do business with Hero.
Hero installed an AC unit for the owners of our house 3 decades back. The unit did not cool the house when we lately turned it around for this season. The 5 year warrantee had not expired and that I asked over the phone, when scheduling, whether the warrantee would move to us. Show and I had been invited to schedule the paperwork to the technician. Obviously, when the person was on site, we were then told that the warrantee wouldn't transfer. We had previous negative experiences with Uptown/Hero and were not interested in hiring them for any work that is additional. We'd have enjoyed being told on the phone that the warrantee wouldn't apply.
Together with the temps our pipes froze and after trying everything we could think of Jake was shipped out by them and we predicted Hero. Jake was amazing in every sense of the term. So we would not need to deal with this later on he gave us tips and got our water functioning. We didn't experience any pushy sales strategies and Jake was about a fantastic guy who knew exactly what to do. His customer service was unmatched and he left what was a hugely stressful situation a great deal easier to deal with. 5 stars to Hero from me!
Had I known it would only take 1 hour to execute the work, I wouldn't have agreed to $1000, which I suspect is his motive for not replying my query.
I was really annoyed at the notion of paying $300/hour, but thought I'd suck it up Like I said. .... It took the man 1 hour of effort. Perhaps not 1.5 hours. Not two hours. $1000. Previous owner answers were seen by me about GPS records; I also have GPS recordings of when the plumber has been dependent on when my husband was at home. I also have text records of when he left and arrived.
*** Update *** Hero reached out and worked with us to lower our invoice. They ended up refunding us $475, which attracted down the bill to ~$500, which will be much more fair than the price in light of the though overpriced. (I have since contacted two other plumbers which are highly rated in the area for other work. Norblom rate is ~$200/hour.
My husband pushed me to find the work, although I knew that their estimate was high based on my experience. I have had two kitchens renovated in one bathroom and the past.
We asked him hook up the water line to our icemaker. Best Buy had actually charged us $150 but since he was at the home I wasn't expecting them for a couple weeks and thought to ask this man. The valve has been installed, and also we had the line in hand. He needed to drill possibly one hole on a cupboard. The man gave an estimate of over $650!! I doubt it would have taken him over 15 minutes.
I asked the man if he was serious, and I believed it'd take 3 hours shirts to perform the work and believed that his work was worth $300/hour. We did not move any of our stuff; he did not need to move or install anything or pipes. Overall easy work, certainly not worth $1000, maybe not 500. The plumber moved on and on about how he needed to drill a hole to the faucet - he supposed drilling a hole onto an Ikea butcher block counter, and that takes all of two minutes.
Hero is friendly on the telephone. It was installed by hero. They never finished the job. It is now August and there is a 2 foot hole in the kitchen floor that Hero never filled in. They also left a mess that I had to tidy up. They make an F for unfinished work.
Be careful using Hero f/k/a Uptown Plumbing, Heating & Cooling. Extremely into fear-based selling, astonishingly overpriced (or concealed costs ) parts & labour and outright lies about what repairs are required. Sad but true! Read my review and see with my images. If possible, avoid!
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.Thank you for the showers this week while our gasoline was away!!!!!
We went with our gasoline turned away while we waited for our opinion.
Unbelievable.
Imagine what I would have spent on unnecessary function when I would have trusted that the"Heroes" (eye roll).
On a"Happy House Club" routine care visit, the tech told us we had several gasoline leaks. We couldn't smell anything, but he gave us ways to"fix" the problem with thousands of dollars of work. He was obligated to shut the gasoline off.
I could smell something fishy with this assessment, therefore I got another opinion, although I couldn't smell gas.
No gasoline leaks anywhere according to some business that is honest and reputable.
Today was my third time with Hero/Uptown Plumbing, Heating, and Heating and it will definitely be the last. Initial two interactions of obtaining a brand new water heater and an air conditioner repair were great, though a bit expensive. I concur that the technicians are educated in scare tactics; I recall feeling some of that with the AC restoration.
I had someone come to my house and quotation me $800 in labor to put in a kitchen faucet, Now. $1150 if I desired their inventory faucet. I am aware that it must only take 45 minutes to put in one, obviously he had been trying to make the most of me. But no, not today. Called Hero to inquire to find out if this was just a rouge tech. The dispatcher was unable to connect me. I asked her to have someone phone me if this was truly a mistake. Nobody has called.
I have called another company that has confirmed the quote which would be 205 in labor. 1/4 of this Hero quoted price.
The entire experience left me feeling very worried that I was being taken advantage of, and that this company isn't just on the up and up, especially after reading the obvious lie about me signing up consent before work was completed.
*************************************************
The receptionist told me that there was a $69 service call/diagnostic fee, which could be applied when I scheduled my appointment. When I received a reminder phone call the day before, this was confirmed. He maintained that wasn't how they do things and acted like taking off was a nicety After the tech arrived. The 57 off coupon that I had was not mentioned in my initial review because not everybody who reads this review will have a coupon. In my opinion, $461 (apparently the actual, full price of services I'd done), is fairly outrageous for the replacement of a $30 capacitor.
EDIT (in response to Uptown/Hero's reply):
The tech fixed the problem within the first 15 minutes of his trip with my air conditioner. I did not sign anything, nor was I given a quote for the cost of the repair before it had been completed. The remainder of his 2.5 hour trip proved to be that the"diagnostic" portion, which largely entailed trying to frighten me into pricier repairs and replacements. At one point I had been told that if I didn't replace my furnace (which was not even the main reason for my call) to the tune of $25,000, I'd never be able to sell my house.
Lots of scare tactics to try and force you into fixes/replacements that are more pricey. That their prices in general are astronomical. It was all I had was a new capacitor for my own AC unit and that I had been billed under $400 for what took 15 minutes to the tech to substitute. He had the entire thing put back together and running before a quote was written up by him , despite the fact that before any work is completed, they assert to be upfront with pricing. The tech himself said the prices are absurd, and he would not pay that much. Definitely wouldn't recommend and not happy.
Once I paid with a credit card the very first time I had been asked to sign anything was at the end of the trip. When I pushed him to leave me with some sort of physical evidence that I'd paid, he had me sign the kind together with the quotes for my different repair options (again, that weren't introduced to me until the repair had been done) and said that was all he needed to give me.
I hate to leave such reviews, but consider this a PSA. Version: Get a second opinion or risk being taken advantage of. That has been our experience.
UPDATE: my husband spoke with the manager in which he cried for an adventure. He noticed that was protocol and refunded our money. The mistake was rectified but only after we paid another company to do the job appropriately and did grinding. If we had not, who knows how we would be out.
-YIKES! Carbon monoxide at our home? With a baby? No way... We asked him,"Do you know how much C02 is dripping?" Because our monitors never went off. The tech said it was"difficult to say" and that was that. We aren't educated on furnaces so we took his word for face value. I mean, he is the professional at the situation.
The tech had a second man from the company and he agreed. So the tech"red flagged" our furnace, turned off it, and deemed it unsafe to run. Stressing about with a newborn in the home and winter literally coming this weekend, a sales associate came out to our home very promptly to talk about furnace bundles.
Is it possible that a mistake was created by the form Uptown Heating? Sure. But for just two techs from Heating to make the same mistake? Smells fishy to me. Given that this same situation happened to another person strikes me as really strange. I can't, although I would like to think that this is an honest business. Do you and your family a favor and take your business elsewhere.
We did a little research online and we came across a review in which a scenario occurred to another costumer this company. Thanks! Are we currently falling victim to the scam that is same?
We had a tech come out for a furnace/water heater inspection. The tech came and he was very prompt and considerate. We got a photo and some background info about the man coming out to our home - ! The tech told me that our heat exchanger was cracked and essentially emitting C02 at unsafe amounts into our home.
We called at a business. The new tech was dumbfounded that the tech out of Uptown Heating told me it was"difficult to tell" how much C02 was leaking. He had a right in his hand to quantify it. Two measures were taken by him - both were fine. This tech that is different was extremely thorough and double checked to ensure that no, there wasn't any problem in any way. He said that Uptown Heating would be following this phenomenon that was negative.
BBB does not allow you to leave testimonials . This corporation would be closed down, if they did. I live in Phoenix and this business does the HVAC work for Home Depot here. They gave me a quote of 10,400 for a 5 ton Rheem Package heat pump. I signed the deal but I decided to call a few companies from angieslist. I am glad I did because I'm getting the identical exact unit having a fantastic warranty with all the exact same equipment and work for 6k. Be aware these men are extremely expensive and high pressure sales tactics make it worse.
Overall, I'm pleased with this Heroes;-RRB- but I would recommend going somewhere else if you are not keen to allow price arrangements that are unexplained or scope creep.
In general, fantastic quality of work; I have no doubts regarding the caliber of their handiwork or the merchandise they market. In the last month, I've had: a water softener, water heater, furnace, and air conditioner set up; a bathtub/shower replumbed; along with a few other things.
Have dealt 3 times recently. I keep coming back to them from convenience, though I should have shopped around a bit more.
I do have replicated frustration. I realize that every job is different, however, the technicians have on all occasions explained my jobs were easy, yet I felt overcharged and I can't explain why since I have no receipts -- itemized or otherwise; they do every thing on tablets). This was expected for two of those visits I expected replacement or asked for, but the visit was likely to be to get a variety gas hookup and flipped into 3 new appliances and a dollar unexpected expense.
The technicians are fantastic. Courteous, nice, clearly qualified to perform their job, and respectful in and around the house.
I really do think the furnace is currently under-powered for your home, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as it does not stop working during a moment. Watch out if they show you an appliance pamphlet; I believed I got a 16 seer air conditioner, but when it was all said and done, I now have a 14 seer air conditioner. When looking at the choices pamphlet somewhat closer, it says"up to 16 seer" so that they can install anything they want. I can't complain too much, it was a.
