I was having problems with my some of the components on my toilet, so I decided to call Hicks Plumbing about 3pm. If they do emergency/same day service and Darrow responded using a text and explained he could be there in a couple of minutes, I asked.

When he said he would, darrow arrived. Great care was taken by him in repairing our problem. He was professional and considerate, and he had been clear about prices.
I came across Hicks Plumbing on Yelp. Darrow was professional and helpful from the beginning. The issue was described by me, and he asked if I could send any pictures to him. I was thrilled that he inquired. I was confident he was our hope, after discussing the job for a couple of minutes.
Hicks Plumbing will definitely be our go-to plumber from today on.
We had an issue with the gas pipes. We had discussed the matter. Many said they wouldn't be able to assist us. Others said they'd be happy to have a look for $xyz each hour, but refused to talk about the issue over the telephone or look at any pictures (via text or email) in advance of this service call. I had little assurance that those technicians would show up ready for the job, and I've little doubt that they would have charged me for the time it would have taken them to go get the crucial parts; that is, assuming they even agreed to help - later charging me the inspection fee.

I have called Darrow twice (after a year ago, and a couple of days back ) to fix my clogged sinks and toilets! He does a fantastic job troubleshooting the root of the problem, and describing how he wants to proceed to fix it, and what may be the source of the problem! Unlike some of the plumbers I have attempted before who can be shady dishonest, and unreliable, Darrow is the complete opposite! He's honest quite dependable, extremely courteous, and professional:D!! And he never tries to upsell you! If he believes that it's not necessary to replace an entire unit, he'll tell you that. He will tell you as well, if he believes that things just need to be substituted or substituted, rather than demand a project. He never tries to overcharge you, and that he never tries to charge you ! I feel extremely comfortable recommending him And when I have any plumbing problems in the future, he will be my plumber:D!!

Darrow has done a amazing job. The thing I appreciate is how thorough he is. Hicks plumbing leaves no stone unturned. I would highly recommend!

Do not waste money or your time with this guy. Paid Hot Water Heater to be fixed by him. . .did not repair, nevertheless, wanted to charge me to resolve the original problem.

This pipes service is own and operated by the most professional and honest person I have met in all my years of hiring individuals or contractors to do work for me! After a bad experience with another plumbing firm who tried to rip my mother in law off this professional arrived and did the job in expense that was small and record time! It's a joy to know there customers to do the job correctly and never take advantage of the elderly people out there that care enough about there work and there are still!

Ok, this is sort of bizarre, but once I paid the bill IN FULL for services he supplied, I requested him to itemize out the bill to segregate the dishwasher install from the faucet setup, as my flooring company was going to reimburse me for the dishwasher install (long story). In order to get reimbursed, they requested a separate invoice JUST for the DW installment. So Darrow made a separate DUPLICATE bill after-the-fact (again, paid in full). His invoicing system must remind him of"outstanding" bills because months later he blatantly hits up me to cover this extra bill even though we paid in full for the job. Several years later and he is still attempting to bill me. He apparently is perplexed and when I explain it he claims. Over it.

You might have good reviews but leaving your client waiting and not returning a call once you said you will phone back to get a confirm time!
I followed indicators of Hicks reply. Guess I must proceed with another plumbing contractor.

From the moment of diagnosis his wealth of experience leaves little to surprise and conjecture, also he's in a position to triage issues on the spot and recommend courses of action. One aspect of his style that I particularly enjoy is his willingness to recommend a less costly, although proper, course of action when that's appropriate. Many plumbers would you know that are pipe happy and ready to begin tearing into flooring and walls? Many would like to substitute whole units versus attempt a very simple repair? Not Darrow... he's a sober minded and continuous handed expert who'll work with you on exactly what the ideal solution will be for you, your goals, your timelines, and budget.
Darrow for the first time and I met with now, and this won't be the last time that I call on his services. I wish he did function!!! and taxation :-)
Where to start?
I'm a Pasadena native and have had mixed results over the years with plumbing. It could be that I am jinxed, or it could be that in general, there are a lot of people who claim they know what they're doing, but actually just slapped a decal on both sides of the leased car and appear looking to cause escapes. Probably more the latter.

I had a clog in my toilet I was not able to fix. Hicks plumbing sent somebody over to inspect it and realized that it was a problem that my landlord would be required to fix rather than an external contractor and didn't charge me since he was there a couple of moments. I'm immensely grateful! They didn't, although there are many companies that would charged me despite only being there about two minutes.

Good job plumbing shrewd - but he told me' I don't work weekends' huh!? That is when a plumber is needed by some of us !

I called Hicks Plumbing due to the reviews on Yelp. I own a home where a number of my relatives live, and I phoned Hicks to request them to come out and look at a problem that was reported. I requested them to phone my family to prepare the appointment and called on a Wednesday. By Friday, nobody had called, so my sister called them. They were to appear at morning. When they showed up, they determined the floor was uneven (new floors!) Plus they would not do the work.

Darrow is fantastic! I found him. We had been on the lookout for a plumber for quite a while. One man did not even bother to call back us and seemed promising. Another man - an apprentice but we were desperate - made a dumb mistake on a really straightforward job. (Installing a reverse osmosis water filtration system a lot of folks could probably just do themselves) Needless to say, that did not inspire confidence to engage him. We found Darrow. Really pleasant, competent and professional. Plus his prices are fair. We got yet another plumber to give an estimate to us and it was ALOT higher. Darrow set up a new one in house with early plumbing and took out an old bathroom with old pipes. Nothing went wrong and the new bathroom looks and functions excellent. So glad to have finally found a plumber!!

That moment I had Darrow replied the phone himself & a jolt in my toilet came. They snaked out all the drain was well before the shower did not drain a few days later. He arrived back & snaked it at no cost, then gave me a lengthy explanation of what may be a continuous problem, with lots of options. He was very responsive with fair prices!

Darrow Hicks came out to fix the water and inspect/evaluate the plumbing in our newly purchased house in Altadena. He fixed the water and made a thorough review write up of recommendations and his observations. About a week after I called to get a gasoline line is reconfigured by him so our dryer could be set up. He took a peek and reasoned that we could make the appropriate and safe connection only by using a flex hose that has been 12" longer. He did not even charge me, and then showed me how easy it is to install myself!

2) He next cleared the clogs from numerous sink holes in the house. I found a most important hole that was DRAIN-OUT and the clog cleared in the line from there.
3) He used an ultra-sound machine to identity where the drain pipes in front lawn are.So last month that I digged through the soil in the front lawn, and found the drain pipes two feet beneath the ground. Next time if there is a clog, the clog could be cleared from a in front garden.
1) I asked him to place a CAMERA through the drain to have a look at the drain pipes all of the way into the street. We found no roots growing into it, though the pipes are cast iron pipes and looked through the pipes.
