I recommend using Malcolm Plumbing & Mechanical - responsive and professional. Matt is the owner and client service is definitely made his top priority by him. His team spent 3 days in our house replacement our boiler and they were amazing. His team showed up on time is respectful and professional and abandoned our house spotless and tidy. I would highly recommend using Malcolm Plumbing
Their rates are crazy, although I'm convinced they are reasonably capable. $736 to clean a line which was not even clogged (so it must have been easy.) Charged for roughly double the time they were here. They refused to adjust the bill and threatened to turn us over when we protested.
If youdo not mind being billed twice what anyone else might bill and're desperate, call these guys. You can be certain I will not call them .
Michelle the admin. Supervisor is pleasant to deal with & remembers their clients that add a personal touch
This is not a sales pitch Only a happy customer
However, a task done right is what I am looking for. Okay enough!!!!!
The owner Matt I believe that is his name took out time for replied the & me? 's my husband & I had re; a brand new one. The other company wouldn't even respond to numerous telephone calls for them. Which I didn't want at the time & The receptionist is professional & helpful & would call back when she said she'd
For me re; boiler malcolm staff has done a estimate
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
$ for a. New boiler Sticker shock
I can't say enough about this company & it's all good.
But again. I thank you as I know the job will be done.
Called them to do a flow inspection that was back on my boiler that another company had me waiting over 3 months & never returned my calls. They had the request completed in 3 days & so I want a brand new boiler because mine has been running 95years
Just used Malcolm Plumbing after being referred to them by my neighbor for the first time. The workplace is organized. I left a message asking on the weekend for a non-emergency service call with their answering service. The office called me immediately. We set an appointment up . He managed to repair the problem (toilet bowl needed a new seal) fast and without making a mess.
My only complaint was the price - $211 for under a 1/2 hour trip to install. But prices are high in SF and its not clear than the other plumber would have been more economical. Malcolm Plumbing would be happily used by me again.
So remain far away, unless you wish to get ripped off, get yelled at, and have your plumbing are fixed by a plumbing student.
The 1 star is for the plumber, that was nice and appeared to have nothing to do with the pricing. Zero stars for everything else.
Re dishonesty: When I put up the appointment, I had asked them around just how much it must cost, and they stated it was not possible to tell me (my sink disposal jumped ) until they arrived. When the plumber actually arrived, he offered me $534 to get 1.5 hrs of work, that is ridiculous, even for SF criteria. In addition, he explained that the sink disposal replacement was basically a flat fee. SO, Malcolm plumbing only refused to tell me because I'm sure they are aware that it's overpriced, and knew it'd cost $534. BUT, once you go through the effort to get the plumber there, they know you are just going to pay it, however much it is and take off work and even in the event that you know you are getting ripped off. I looked up SF plumbing companies afterwards and discovered that replacing disposal should cost much less.
Got an 10 minutes before they were scheduled to say he isn't yet a plumber, and the plumber was on his way, however currently in plumbing school. To begin with, if the plumber is a student, you have a duty. And then I called to inquire if there was any other plumber available (obviously I wanted someone experienced, as we merely costly water damage), and was totally informed off and scoffed at by the staff, saying it was"only a disposal" and I can't get somebody else. Then I spoke to the proprietor Matt, who accused me of being rude and impolite (actually the very last nuke anyone would use to describe me), and asked me when I was going to shout in the plumber when he arrived. I'm sorry, but WHAT?
Their administrative team have it together. All these are my plumbers now.
This really is when our radiant floor heating system went offline, the plumber who called me back on a holiday weekend. They sent an expert who arrived on time, explained that the complexity of the job, gave a quote through iPad, and then fixed the issue.
We utilized Malcolm Plumbing to properly insulate our floor heating in a home. The machine hadn't been properly completed by the vendor and our pipes inspection had given us a quote and scope of work that was double what we obtained from Malcolm Plumbing, who allow us know without revamping the job we could achieve outcomes. Both days they came out, we received an email telling us precisely who was arriving (with a photo) and when, which is nice to get for safety reasons. They followed up through email, and constantly gave excellent service, arrived on time. They're among those very few plumbers from the city who seem comfortable with floor systems.
I don't really utilize Yelp that much as you'll see by my"Yelp Scores". After my horrible encounter with Malcolm Plumbing though I felt obligated log back in so that I could discuss my opinion and to find that password that you don't make a mistake.
They sent out some guy who did not understand exactly what he do to support a water heater. A job for somebody who knows what they are doing. I went to the laundry room to see how the work was progressing and he has the cover away from the heater, bits and pieces on the ground and he is on the telephone to the office requesting someone back at the office something like"Is that the red wire or the black cable. . ?" Huh? The job was bad, slow and therefore expensive (no reduction for getting an inexperienced junior guy at work ) and they could not care less about customer satisfaction. When I called to go over the bill I then received, their front office folks were rude and dismissive. Avoid at any cost.
My woman Ruth at the reception desk is a gem and always makes sure I receive a call back along with my issues addressed.
I have found their prices competitive, their information sound and their work successful. When you've got no shortage of building issues that are old all valuable features and 10 equally opinionated home owners to contend with.
I have worked caring for repair and the care of the early 1900s Pacific Heights condominium building which has been no small accomplishment. Kevin and Matt have managed it all from flows into new boilers to elimination of decaying flu stacks coming from the boiler room.
Malcolm plumbing is cost and the great service. They do a job I adore them so much Kevin is a great guy fantastic bussiness. . Best plumbing in the Bay Area let me tell you!!!
Before locating another plumber who would do the job so $500 for a subcontracted camera review free of assessment, no opinion, and a great deal of time wasted. I found the entire experience unprofessional and unhelpful - a ripoff.
I had a bad experience with Malcolm Plumbing. My first meeting was great and they delivered a subcontractor to run a camera review. After that they I couldn't get them to communicate with me concerning my plumbing problems. I called for at least a month hoping to make them give an appraisal or estimate for repair job to me. Nobody gave me estimate or some appraisal although there were lots of excuses. I was able to obtain the camera footage but only by requesting it and going to their office personally. The only time they actually* called me after the camera review was three weeks after asking me to cover the invoice (which they had never sent ).
I am a home owning girls, that had not had to take care of any home repairs in my own ever, so when I had a massive escape I didn't know what to do. I had been known to Malcom Plumbing and soon after I called they were so patient and kind to describe and arrived at my house. They did the fix in a timely fashion and the cost was so fair that I nearly fell over. Matt thank you thank you thank you, I'll be thankful for your reaction and your kindness. I'm gonna go have a bath.
I've used this Business for over 20 years and they have always come through for me and My plumbing problems. Always pleasant even at 2 in the morning when the home was
Thank you
Matt and Kevin conduct a fantastic shop!

Flooding! Its great to see a familiar face and know you are safe and they will do the job right.
The plumbing that is very best experience . I live with a water baseboard heating system that is very old and these men knew all about it. Immediate and reasonable.
Kitchen drain leaking into laundry sink on floor below. Yuck. Called Malcolm Plumbing who delivered over Bobby, plumber extraordinaire. Bobby took care to keep his work place clean, analyzed the issue, told me exactly what steps he would be taking and then fixed the leak. No more messy drain water going where it shouldn't, yay. Bobby also snaked outside the rest of the pipe to ensure that all would drain thoroughly. All-in-all!
Nice folks, super awesome, reasonable rates. They have done a good deal in the building I handle, and it is always done.
I'd say that I have been somewhat of a problem customer for them and during the process, I'd say that I have run the gamet. I understand the one review which has been posted because they frequently have jobs that are large and are very active the same day and don't call back. But if you're willing to work together, they are willing to work together with you and they won't nickel and dime you to death. In the long run, they fact that they appear to care and take some time to work together with mepersonally, wins them 5 stars in my book.
I have worked with these guys for about two decades. I called about my wall heater and they came out the next day and caught me up and running. I had issues with the heater not working and they came back and performed more upkeep.
However, with the heater not staying lit I have fought for the last year and a half and I have called them with out needing to handle it so that I can control it, and they've come back and added a thermostat. The heater remains an old furnace and has some issues, but their final couple of visits have been free and they've taken their time.
Wow. Certainly, these men do not need (and surely do not deserve) any small business. I contacted them at my company about a quotation for a large boiler installation. Matt (one of the owners) didn't appear for two appointments in a row and clearly didn't care. As soon as I telephoned him 15 minutes after the next appointment time had passed, he dismissively and suddenly said"I am in a financial institution, I'll call you back!" To which I replied,"you understand what Matt, please do not bother". His reply,"Laaaate. . .click!"
Flabbergasted does not begin to explain how I feel. I can't believe this guy is an owner, because he isn't a company man. I am taking $ 50k + project and all my continuing and plumbing demands elsewhere and I take solace in karma however and if you're reading this review, I would recommend you do the same.
Matt and Mike arrived and sorted out the obstructed sink immediately. Together with them messing around waiting for them to bring things and charging , they had the tools.
Called at one, they were with me .
Great service.
We'd certainly use again.
Malcolm Plumbing is the very best in town. I am the next generation San Franciscan using them and I have never had a problem they couldn't fix immediately!
