A wonderful company to do business with. They are friendly, and useful and come ready to supply a full service experience. I have had the chance to call them with questions, and have services are performed by them in my home. They are delighted offer service that is very quick as well and to answer questions when you call! If you're currently interested in finding a locksmith in the region, do not be afraid to give them a phone! Very friendly support and affordable rates!
I bought one of these hi tech keypad security locks. Supposed to be simple to install. Not in my case. . .Door needed to be modified. Went out on the NET to locate a locksmith. I shortly found out It is not so easy to find a regional locksmith. Many display local addresses but when you check details they turn out to be not local at all but"mobile" companies that traveling numerous towns and have no discernable home base. In other words you do not really know who you're letting in your house. Not such a fantastic idea.
Well, I kept it and was lucky enough to locate Lagrange Lock and Safe Company. This can be an"old line" established business with a real brick and mortar shop in Countryside. I phoned them to my surprise got to speak about the facts of my undertaking, with the owner, Scott. Further, to my surprise he said he could be at my house in 20 minutes! Scott showed up as promised and finished the task. It was clear that he knew what to do, how to get it done, and needed all of the tools required for my job. His price was fair.
In the world of today it's hard to locate people and companies as good as Lagrange Lock and Safe and Scott. I wish that I could give 10 stars to them and recommend them very highly!
The hours that the business is open are not good (M-F, 10 am - 2 pm), however, the service is courteous, helpful, and quick. The person behind the counter is an older gentleman who is probably doing so as a semi-retired gig.
I had a few keys and a key that I wanted to have back-up copies. For regular home keys, the cost was quite reasonable (about $2.25 per key). For the skeleton key, it was a bit pricier (again reasonable considering it's a SKELETON KEY), but then where else would you locate a blank that closely matched then have it floor properly to work flawlessly.
Was able to fit me into a tight program, the week before Thanksgiving if my entrance door knob fell off. This is the set to the home from 1931. Able re install and to repair the door knob, fixed the lock that had never worked since we made 3 keys under one hour, and moved . Polite and considerate with reasonable charge.
Not the man who works in the"Big Box" merchant who will sell you a lock who knows nothing on how best to service it- be it re-keying, installation, door closers, etc.. Not the man that some essential places send out to allow you back but who do it and then charge you a small fortune.
The strain is being felt by craftsmen like this as lock organizations are producing their locks more easy for the man to change themselves to the keys. While La Grange does it all, most people use the big box retailers to buy their locks and then companies like this to service it. Nevertheless, the money for a company like this is in the locks, not the keys.
However, for one old home aficionado, since they know locks old and 30, I will continue to take my company. And why would I need anyone but an expert working in my previous house?
In La Grange Lock and Safe- those guys (Charlie and Sam) are in the company for more than 30 years and will get you exactly what you need at a reasonable price fast and efficiently.
Locks.
The shop is tiny. There is barely room for 2 people to stand in the counter. And there are blanks arranged neatly on hooks from floor to ceiling. If they don't have it- chances are it does not exist. And I mean every sort of key from modern locks to those old home decorative"skeleton" keys that lock closets and doors that are old.
The owner Scott was extremely rude. Don't waste your time giving a jerk business. People went in to ask questions and that he gave them attitude for no reason.
Scott and Charlie are professionals that are great. Both of them are excellent at their craft and also have all the latest information on new car keys, etc.. Do not bother going anywhere else in the western suburbs. These guys can not be beat!

Scott was very accommodating for my own schedule and is a master of his trade. In addition, the rates are reasonable. Couldn't be more happier!
