Old Orchard Shoe & Luggage Repair

Ray was really nice and answered all my questions. This is my first time doing this kind of belt repair but I truly adore my belt (My dad gave it to me, it's from the 90's (30 years old today!)) And I can't find anything.
I wasn't able to have Ray tell me exactly what he did because someone else was there when I picked up, before the time was happy, however they ended.
Just in my own observations, it's clear the belt sits flatter, is easier to bend, black and also the contrast of imperfections to this original leather is noticeable today. Overall I'm very happy. Since I live close, so I wanted to give them a shot, it was $15 and take I adore leather.
I wish Ray could reveal curiosity about my fascination with his store and love for leather, he did not seem as enthused for being a man as he needs to be.
Next, I would like to fix the metal at a store that is different as they weren't confident enough to touch that area. I love the honesty. Will be I recommend for straps & back.

Wow!!! How sad to see these reviews. I've known this guy for a very long time. There needs to be something wrong. I'd never in a million years know this is Ray. He doesn't know me. But my dad, who is currently going to be 97 years old admired him. I figure, In this era, everything must be perfect. Particularly when a guy is business for such a long time we reside with yelp, knowing we can get our point across, sometimes it's extremely painful.
Well Ray, Iwill say hello, and'm coming back to see you. But you receive these reviews. Hope everything is okay.

This location dont even deserve a score. I'd my kate spade tote strap shifted because it's too long, it takes 1 week to allow them do it and when I picked it they ruined it such a sloppy job not recommending this place at all, instead of restoring your handbag they will ruined it

3. Owner promised me I would be reimbursed the complete amount paid but just reimbursed for the cost paid.
1. Shoes were not ready when promised.
2. Owner failed to finish the work as promised.

The owner is a liar!!! I brought a satchel there to be refreshed; $50.00 charge. The owner said he had at least 5 times to wash, polishwater proof etc.. He said each process had to dry. I moved to pick up the slice on the pickup date and he said he had to complete the water proofing process; would I return in thirty minutes.
It was in the exact same condition as when I dropped it off. I wanted my money back
I did not have 30 minutes. The owner said could I return in 15 minutes I told him . I asked to see the satchel. He eventually brought out the satchel and he never did
Don't waste your time or money doing business with this guy!!!!!
Once I paid money like to asked for, and he tried to say I paid using a credit card. He said he likes cash only Ray, like his title. Kash.
Any work on it!!! I told him he never touched it and he said it did wash up and polish it

Two hours into wearing them, they are already falling . I call him and he says sure, I will bring them back some time, he'll set the elastic in for free. I'm annoyed, but I give him another chance.
After that Thursday, I haul myself all the way out to Old Orchard one last time to locate MY BOOTS ARE NOT DONE the Tuesday. No telephone would be late, nothing. He offers to weatherproof them to compensate for it. Fine. He promises to call once they have been completed by him.
He attempts to bill me as well as attempting to upsell me, when I bring back the boots. Eventually , I fork over a $5 to shut up him and to purchase some guards for the base of the heels. He tells me they'll be performed Thursday, all and elastic.
Fourteen days later, it is abruptly the dead of winter and I am wishing I had my boots, so I call him to see exactly what the hold up is. Turns out, they've been done for a week and he simply never bothered to phone. So I haul myself out to Old Orchard one last time to pick up my boots, they eventually have a few weatherproofing, and he will not receive my company anymore.
TL;DR -- Kind of EXTREMELY unreliable, overpriced, and not worth tolerating all his upselling for the job that is he does. Go somewhere else if you can.
I ignored these yelp testimonials after hearing a rave review of the post from my boyfriend's mum. I live in Lincoln Park, so this is quite the hike. I took my boots there about two weeks back to have them glistening, reheeled, and to have some elastic sewn in the back (they are just two large on my calves and slouch around my ankles, I needed something to carry them upright). I ask all this, bring them , and pay him $45 in advance. "No large," I think to myself,"which seems like a great deal of work done for $45."
I come to pick up the boots , two weeks later. I find that, though I have paid for the ceremony, there's NO ELASTIC. He asserts so that they will stand upright, he's coated the leather something or other. Alright, I mentioned, I'll try it out. The job is just nice -- boots are shined, heels have been fixed.

I have been coming for a few decades to Ray now. I used to make use of ALDO Shoes and also we always sent our customers or took their sneakers for them to him. I have attracted a Coach purse here that had seen and he fixed it right up. He can be well-priced and does good work! I would not take my leather products anywhere else!

Perhaps that place is a lot better with sneakers instead of leather products.
The nice part was that after seeing his job, he decided to not take any money for this and wanted to do it that was a wonderful gesture. I then peeled the belt aside and will look for a leather repair shop utilizing yelp.
Certainly the worst job I have ever seen. After having a good experience with all the tailor located in the same construction, I decided to provide a go to this place. I brought in my belt that after two decades of wear started to split. I decided that I prefer to take it to some leather repair man that would do exactly the same for under $20 bucks. Thats when I found this place and it being in a mall that is wonderful I did not hesitate to trust that the job could be done. I left the man to the belt, he said he had to make sure it dries right and seems fine, so of course for a work. I arrived back to get my belt and brought a pair of shoes to get stretched. I was about to hand him my sneakers when he came back and handed me the belt, or that which looked like a tier arts and crafts project. It was like Ray Charles and Stevie wonder it was worked on by both together. The belt not aligned and completely has been covered in glue, smudged and dirty. Just an absolute mess.

Place to get the sneakers
They did a fantastic job, my sneakers look new.
Having resoled shoes is normally a good practice, but I always feel disappointed when I get back it, because...I guess its the same shoe...
Acceptable cost - havent checked too other places. .

Ray saved the day when my grandma's wake was day and that I wanted my own boots to be shiny. I will tell everyone I know to come back here!

My move to place for shoe repair. I have taken shoes and vintage boots here. My daughter had her Coach boots resoled here. They have always done a great job and sometimes repairs have been done immediately.

Fantastic place. His wife and owner are very pleasant men and women. Knows will answer all questions and a lot about shoes. Day that is great support. Had my shoes polished and implemented job has been well done and vinyl protection together with toe and heel. Will come

Recently had the strap into my K. Cole briefcase mended. Frankly I believe I could have done a much better job myself. Rather than employing a item of leather and carrying the strap aside, he just stitched right the size of a screwdriver.
My strap includes a inexpensive part of suede that looks like a 3rd grader cut out using safety-scissors affixed to the bottom, and the top is riddled with nicks and holes.
That I wouldn't let him do anything else involving handbags or high-end luggage, although he did a nice job shining my shoes.

I use to go here a whole lot to receive my heels repaired. They use to bill $8. The couple who runs the place needs to communicate regarding their prices, although I know the market has changed. The husband tells me 10, but his spouse comes along and wants to charge me $15! This isn't the first time! The cobbler is a guy, but the spouse. . .scary and imply. Take note! He did a good job with heels.
