This is the second time that I have brought company to Overlake Lock and Key. They're a life saver when you have tenants. No one does it, although I've searched far and wide for makers which make DND keys!
Funny enough, this area really gets packed on the weekend. Let just a tiny bit more time. Overall, even though they're a bit more expensive than other makers, since I understand the key would work the first time and everytime then, I'd hesitate to return for dupes!
Expertise and their knowledge is what sets them apart, though the rates are high! A key isn't just made by them and say here you go. . .they make keys and guarantee their cuts! They also help in suggesting in case you have an issue what to do with things and locks.
I come here when I want to have keys made, because they have the right key blanks, and the keys. Every. Time. You are able to get most keys cut at any hardware store, but they do work, which means that you have to return and try again. And again. So I have for about twenty decades, and come here. They really do an exceptional job, and they're kind and useful .
Where guys know what they do, Fantastic area! Once I had to replicate a secret for my box truck, it had been such a fun narrative. This key was enormous and unique, it is not like SUV's key or any other sedan. I spend the day driving to Home Depot's and looking around, nobody and other services helped me. One guys told me that the can do it and it'll cost about $70. Finally when I gave up, I just looked at my crucial and discovered"Overlake Keys" signal on the back of it. I spend about an hour to drive there but it's alright and it had been far from my home, they charged me and created it great job, in 5 minutes!
I'll now come here every time and potentially for more complex locksmith needs if the demand arise.
Convenient place. I walked in. Told him and handed the guy the secret it was for a rooftop carrier. .
I said"2". He went to his wall of keys and found the one that was right in about 1 minute. And I had my 2 keys. The guy was very considerate and friendly. It was much nicer than doing the drill at Home Depot where you want to track down somebody, and they are sort of grumpy about it.
I needed to make a duplicate key for my car's Yakima new rooftop carrier. The Redmond Home Depot was unable to do so as it is a somewhat key, and advocated Key and Overlake Lock.
The total cost was $12.10. If possible I love to pay for items at businesses using cash, to save them the credit card company charges. I had a $5 bill, and seven $1's, and a few $20s in my wallet, but no little change. He took my $12, and told me not to be concerned about the ten pennies.
They cut on the key, and the door can be opened by the key and may turn the ignition to but can't turn on the engine. They stated it's transponder key, and I asked why and needed to be programmed. I asked themcan you plan it afterward, I will pay. However they could cut a new one using a their own blank and application it for me, and also the total (key + cutting + programming) is $80 (or $85). They told me this a mobile locksmith will bill me at least $80 even $100 to plan my cut-key, which means me, spending $38 to get a key that can't begin the engine and then spending another $80 to get a key that may begin the engine is a good deal.
I really wasn't happy. They clearly knew the key need to be programmed, and didn't tell me this before hand, and was looking at earning yet another $80.
But no, even if I must spend the full price of new key I will spend it.
I guess it's my fault didn't do enough homework before going to them, but I felt that this isn't the means. I went to their shop a few days ago asking if they can make a copy of the key and I want a whole operational key, but they only possess the sterile key but no remote fob, that is why I ended up buying the key + fob (that were sold collectively ) somewhere else. Should they've told me ahead they won't plan the sterile key I bought elsewhere, I'd have pay them 80, because I got a excellent deal (about $30) on the sterile key + fob mix and I could treat it that I invested $30 for its fob and another $80 for the key.
I dropped my car key and bought a sterile key (it's a transponder key but I didn't know at the start ), and brought to them today, asking them to cut it to me. $38 was stated by them, and I said fine.
I purchased a key blank for a 2011 Honda Pilot on Amazon for about $8 and took it here for"cutting". The housing broken on the first, but still had the safety electronics in tact.
The bad (not so poor ): It is $38 + tax. I hoped a whole lot . Takes about 10 minutes or so for your own setup and the machine to perform its work.
I would return for a key.
The options: Not sure since I did not call locksmiths around. The one Honda automobile that got back with me said they'd charge $67 for up to 5 key cuts, however they needed to be"real Honda" only. That would have been closer to $150 total if done at the dealership.
The great: He cut the key and it match the car (using a little extra friction).
I can not really complain of using a keysmith at a location convenient and as central since the Fred Meyer parking lot. They're also open during the building that's taken than it should have. I've brought here to be duplicated, in creating these duplicates, and they have been fast and courteous. The cost is also reasonable, depending on how far you need their service.
The place is within one wooden shack, so for not feeling claustrophobic all of the time, I really have to complement the workers. They apparently only do simple keys. I've had a key is declined by them that was more complicated for a certain reason. Keep in mind that you are not likely to get copies which look exactly the same. It is nothing that detracts from their service, especially considering just how much a lifesaver it can be to get spare keys, although they give you colors to select from to distinguish them from the originals.
There's someone here who's kind and super helpful. There is another individual who's not and that I left unsatisfied. When I knew which type of key that I wanted/needed, the guy did not appear to believe me. Anyways I asked for the metallic blue key and the guy says I can select the keys out of"these/top three rows" or anything like this and that I asked for the metallic blue secret on top, does not even seem he reproduces"top few rows" I asked if I could find the metallic one that he repeats it ... (currently WTF) so I chose one I did not really like, he leaves it, I requested another employee (woman) if the metallic blue key could work for my key and she said yes... basically I got something I did not want because of poor customer services.
This is a good spot to get keys created, I get all my keys. It is way better than going and using the key not work. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. I asked about producing a key fob for my car, he took my number and gave it to a buddy who makes themcalled me a few times, telling me how much cheaper they were compared to traders.... I told him I'd think about it and to quit calling me. I'll continue to get my keys created here, but won't be giving my number out anymore.

Two service guys showed up and did an outstanding job. I had forgotten to inform them the door for the deadbolt was steel, not wood necessitating the drilling, so it required energy and time. They did a lot of additional work that I hadn't planned on just to acquire door operating. They offered good sense advice and didn't oversell. Very pleased. Will urge them to rest of condominium units.
They are fast friendly and reasonable.
Knowledgeable and helpful when I asked about re-keying my own home doors Although you has to schedule in advance I'm advised, the price quote is the finest I have ever been quoted.
Great support.
Had some more keys.
Wished I'd have used them before I moved in my other house, as they would have saves me a package.
Tho they're beneath for what seems like forever, close to the Fred Meyer structure mess that's been coining on,
I dropped by Overlake Lock & Key and inquired if they could cut a new key to replace my"bad" one. The gentleman I talked to advised me that he wasn't setup to do my kind of automobile key but advised me to lubricate my locks since this was a standard issue that was known. I explained that the"great" key turns just fine from the locks and so there must be something wrong with the other key. He patiently suggested that the locks likely needed lubricating by trying that first, and I could save myself a great deal of cash. He clarified that automobile locks must be lubricated on a regular basis. Needless to say I was very doubtful but thanked him.
After I got home I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. First I supported my key worked along with the bad key wouldn't budge. I then gave the door keyhole a fast shot of WD40 (not the best lock lubricant but it was what I had). At first it didn't work however I did a little wiggling and abruptly the"bad" key slid at a fraction of an inch further and worked! Tried the same with the back and got the exact same outcome! Now the"bad" key slips in fully and readily and works without any additional small and the"great" key still works as well. Still does not make complete sense but bottom line is that the gentleman was right and I now owe him some future company (and this favorable Yelp).
While I've been a satisfied client in the very distant past (for a few minor re-keying and replicating services) this review is based on an adventure today with a few free advice. I've got two keys for my Honda Civic (laser cut using integrated remote) and if the"great" key functions flawlessly (physically in all keyholes), the"bad" one would not turn the lock either in the door or trunk, but nevertheless turned fine from the ignition.
Fast forward to the week... I had a key to a locked bathroom at work. The key doesn't look special or outside of the ordinary. Another day, an Ace Hardware and I passed on the way home. Keys are made by them. They could not create a duplicate of the major, saying it is not a type they carry, I should visit Overlake Lock & Key. I went by my residence to the Home Depot. They have a huge stock of keys and create thousands of keys annually there'd be no problem getting my key made here? Wrong! They also didn't have. They recommended I go to the Fred Meyer door or to Overlake Lock & Key. I went to Fred Meyer since I was there. They also could not replicate my key, saying I should go to Overlake Lock & Key. So I went to Overlake Lock & Key and, you guessed it, they made my key up .
I understand not to waste my time with going to locksmith boats, to come here.
The man is educated and super nice. He tell me that they do emergency locksmith tasks. Great to know!
I remember when I moved to the Seattle area 20 decades ago, I lived in an apartment up on 148th Avenue in Bellevue and something happened to my car key. I had a fresh one, and quickly, and this place made one up.
The man here was AWESOME! My secret to my 2005 scion tc broke and I purchased a new one from amazon changed into the new one over all the internals from the keypad went here was out and in in 5 min with my key cut perfect. $6.50 charge and $5 to the I'm not complaining! $200 at the scion automobile? Lol!
Overlake Lock & Key is my"go-to" for crucial duplication on the Eastside.
At the risk of being redundant (see my other reviews about crucial duplication), we receive a lot of keys replicated for our business. Hundreds each year. Because the first attempt did not work, one of my pet peeves is having to receive a key duped another time.
These men are perfect. Not a dud in the bunch. It is generally. But, I'd rather drive here once and get it then proceed because they can not get it directly.
Key can count on.

Should you require a car key programmed, visit Batteries and Bulbs across the street, which offers the same support for less $.

Super knowledgeable and useful. Has a number of the keyblanks around. Literally had blanks for a 1970's MG. Unbelievable.
