I read the reviews before I thought if I used this place, I would have to hold my tongue and called that place. Well, I did not feel I needed to do this now when I brought my sons bicycle in to cut off the lock. The lock was broken inside by the key. This was a U lock which meant it would not be easy to deal with. I told him what my issue was and called up the owner and he said he couldn't guarantee anything but he would look at it and tell me if he could help me. I showed up with bicycle in tow and lock on the bicycle. He spoke to another guy and looked it over and they determined that I would have to loose my lock so as to cut/remove it off the bicycle. He explained it quite straight forward and I understood that it could be fixed. He quoted me $35.00 and although I presumed was on a higher price, I was happy he could help me now since my son rides that bicycle .
He is quite smart and he lets you know it however, I wasn't offended and neither was my husband. He's got a great sense of humor but you have go in with an open mind. You get the best out of the individual should you give a little!
He has a sense of humor although he might seem a little too serious. I recommend him to safe and security products for all from keys and locks.
Super owner and professional.
Stay away. They over charge for car replacement keys that end up breaking in the end. You are better off ordering them off the amazon they are priced online.
He was able to create me a key to get a cabinet that I didn't have the key for by viewing a picture of the lock face. I initially wanted to get him come onsite for the job but he advised me that it's way cheaper to send a photo. I liked that he didn't attempt to make money. He is a stand up guy and I'll return for most of my lock smithin' wants!
Gene is skilled, experienced, and has charm about him that makes you want to return. A whole lot more sense than going to get your key cut at an Home Depot.
Competent. Friendly. Efficient. Reasonably-priced. This is about as good as it gets. I had a few locks re-keyed (the locks weren't installed yet, so this was a simple 10 minute job in a shop). Unlike a few other outfits that wante to charge up to $200 for driving into the place (which clearly wasn't needed, because I could easily bring the items to the store), he had a very fair price ($18 per cylinder). He got the work done fast and he had plenty of excellent information for which degree of safety is adequate for houses and which locks to choose. This wasn't patronizing but pragmatic and competent.
Ahead of me was a mother with two children. She had broken a key and he left a duplicate of this key that was broken . He is clearly trying to help people and he was very kind. Fun fact - he has a university degree and holds several patents. Hats off to the friendly and smart locksmith! Very much recommended. !
Ensure you double check the keys when it works if you go here since I came here. First time was to get my vehicle and I asked the assistant. Didn't work, they had to picture boss flings the secret at me and it a bit more. Time came here, boss tells me functions. Go home key drive back does not function and get a stern look from him for requesting a receipt.
I needed to have copies of my key a deadbolt that was simple, to my door from Home Depot. I went to another location and Orchard Supply and the keys didn't work. I called a key place who recommend I take the secret here. I had 3 copies made and joyful they worked and came here
I needed 3 keys made, for my travel trailer. 1 for the door lockfor your storage and outside shower locks, and 1 for my trailer hitch lock. The trailer hitch, Just 1, worked once I got home and tried them. $15 dollars, I tried to help out the little family enterprise. I probably should have went to Home Depot. Lesson learned.
Quick, efficient, and why not? The owner has been kind, polite, and welcoming to me each moment! I've been here about 5 times over the last 3 years and I have nothing.
Cash only.
A great outfit.
This business is good. They cut even, and old automobile keys automobile keys by code electronic car keys for half the price that dealerships bill. The proprietor, and Really professional is intentionally humorous and affable.
He also sells safes, and I'm going back in the next month to buy a fire safe from him (passports, bank things ).
Holy hell. I'm not sure I have encountered a ruder man on the telephone when I called to enquire about duplication service for my previous vehicle. I stated it is simply a key just, twice, and then he escalated into a tone that was savage and started asking questions. I stated that there was no need to take a rude tone with a client that had been calling to ask. When I restated a third time it had been just a key, he said"Don't waste my time." I hung up.
Eugene is a master of fobs. He can save tens of thousands of dollars vs going through dealership, in the event that you lost among these'smart keys' cars come with. I've been referred to Eugene by another locksmith ("If all else fails, then you need to talk to Schwenk").
I've read some testimonials calling the owner rude. He came out of Soviet Union, also has a very different sense of comedy and'attitude' that is different. Just take that under consideration, and you'll love his work.
Absurd! I sternly reply that he is my husband, maybe not an"Old Man".
For whom this lockset was for, the client is a long time resident of Santa Clara. We attempt to support local companies.
Should we continue to take this kind of treatment we will continue to get it.

I inquire just how much I had been charged and he says...
So stick with me on this...
Oh....and one more thing.

"$240.00"
You need to understand that this is a standard tier Schlage product that can be bought at Lowes and The Home Depot although not in Bright Chrome unless you purchase it on line.

Maybe my"Old Man" dad (83) obtained taken with malice of forethought?
Dad, you're the best. Thanks for everything you do.
I just purchased the lockset and deadbolt online for $! The Brass one I brought in for re-keying was $60.00.
Had my dad take in a Schlage Keyed Entrance Lock and Deadbolt Model Number F51 PLY in Bright Brass to have it re-keyed to get a clients home. At the same time I requested as my client requested a end that was different on either side of the door he order me the following F51 PLY in Bright Chrome. Was told it could be ordered and available in 1 day.
Locksmiths that are poor are not supported by do not.
I have read of the Yelp reviews for Schwenk Locksmiths also it would seem fair to state that their expertise has been noted by a lot of individuals . In addition, I note the negative reviews reflecting the absence of civility they bestow upon their own patrons.
I KNOW THAT BY GOING TO A LOCAL RETAIL LOCKSMITH I WILL PAY ONLINE OR AT A BIG BOX STORE.
I call to let them know they haven't purchased the item. I don't say a word concerning the outrageous price.
They re-key the Brass place I brought in at no charge and put the order for the Chrome Set. When it arrives they call. I again send my dad (who's compensated to run errands for my own company ) to pick up and buy the new Chrome collection. When he arrives in my job site he suggests I open the boxes attentively as he does not think they are the ideal match.
I'm curtly advised that,"I should not have sent an"old guy" to do my company".
DO support Locksmiths that are good in the event that you need to push than Schwenks.

When I tell you the charge was $240.00 I mean it was exactly $240.00. No cents.
I'm them cussed out over the phone. I reply that I will take up the issue . That I have done.
I will go back the mis-ordered product that they purchased when my $240.00 is reimbursed.
Do NOT support General Contractors that are poor
I am familiar with residential lockset installations that are basic and am a general contractor and have installed many.
He is accurate. They are not even close!
I had been hoping to be charged between $100.00 & $150.00 dollars knowing that a smaller retail company has overhead etc..
Epilogue:
Since the operations manager for a company with multiple locations, having a good locksmith is a must. Door locks, padlocks, master keys, location-specific keys... nothing particular, but stuff you need a locksmith for. Change door locks the last few weeks we've had a great deal of changes and had to make keys, and order a padlocks. All was done efficiently and fast. Now especially, we had an urgent need pop up and it had been treated. Happy to own Schwenk Lock as a resource.
Highly recommend.
Needed a car replacement key and got one done here the cost of the trader. For automobile keys are now upward of $200 at the dealer.
The guy is great. I know people say he is not fine, but to me he was right to the point. There were 3 clients there while I was there. One was buying a secure that was massive, the other was getting a key made. This guy knows his stuff, has a fantastic sense of humor, and is a joy to see vs. heading to the anonymity of Home Depot.
When he handed me the key that was copied I asked if I could go try it. Because it was just like $90 I figured he might not want me to walk from his store, get in my car, and begin it without paying. He was just like"whatever, go attempt...".
I personally enjoy this kind of service!

Friendly and locality service that is honest. I received my new keyfobs programmed , it saves more than half by the dealership.
