A Friday afternoon appointment, I made - I left work 3 hours to wait for them. Nobody showed up after three hours of waiting, and I had to call to find out that the tech's previous job was taking time, so they had to reschedule me.
5 stars: The technician (Dominic) was on time (arrived at the beginning of a 3 hour window), friendly and courteous (answered all my questions concerning the repair), and did a nice and effective job (replacing a leaky valve).
Minus 1 star:

Mel's was fast in setting up a same-day appointment. They kept me in the loop with texts in their anticipated arrival. The technology was professional and productive. The cost was quite affordable and he had been with details of the invoice. I highly recommend them!

Visited my parents and needed help unclogging their bathroom toilet. Called at a had good customer service from the get go. Plumbers promised and got the job! I high recommend this company for all your plumbing needs!

Quoted my 80 year old mother $1600 for a hundred and twenty five foot snake that the next company charged $200 for. Trying to make the most of people in"high income" place is my figure. Assholes.

Great service. Professional workmanship. Called in the weekend in a significant pinch. Called smelly mels. Technician had flow patched up quickly. Came back out and completed job. Excellent job!! .

Communicating was a little delayed because of the holiday season once the estimate was delivered to me, but we got something down calendar and travis's team started the repairs. They were awesome to use and left the sidewalk. I would strongly recommend anyone that has a sewer issue to utilize Travis and his team.
I discovered that I needed to replace the sewer lateral before the city would and simply purchased a home approval our building permits. Smelley Mel substituted the sewer lateral about 8-9 years back for the owner, so I was perplexed on why it needed to be replaced again. It turns out the city had changed their code and also a section of the pipe required to be replaced in order to solve a standing water problem. I went straight back to Smelley Mel's for guidance and went full circle, after getting different quotes. Travis took the time from his hectic schedule to actually sit down me and explain exactly what needed to be achieved, what the city expected of me, exactly what the process was going to be, how long it was going to take.... Not only that, I was given a quote by Travis.

Interesting update: I got a telephone call from Travis, who identified himself as the proprietor of Smelley Mel's. He apologized which I described was. He clarified that significance to reach me out for a while and had been wanting, and that for some reason it just kept getting shuffled to the back burner so to speak. The fact he took the opportunity to do so - even in light of the fact of how long it took him to do so - along with him stating that he tends to think and not question what I said in my review and proceeded to apologize that shows me that at least he has integrity and the testicular fortitude to finally follow through. I wish you and thank you Travis for the followup and your business. -- Brian

His group in Smelly Mel's and travis were terrific. Really upfront about expectations and support choices. Final recommendation was for the option and they did a job that is efficient providing recommendations for future and completing the work. No pressure, just insights and simple tips for a buildings requires. Will absolutely continue with them.

We had an exterior gas flow and Travis was fantastic to work with. The flow was sourced by us and replaced / repaired the broken pipe. Travis - along with his team - are courteous, responsive, professional and lovely. And their work is fairly priced.

All the reviews that are terrible echo my experience. They basically overcharge and try to convince people to add on solutions that they may not need. I believed I had been getting Bell Plumbing once I scheduled the visit (which has decent yelp testimonials ) and did not know I was getting Smelly Mel's before it was all done and said. I figure so be certain you identify who is coming to your property, sister companies are occasionally sent over by Bell Plumbing. Steer clear of this place and save your hard earned cash.

This provider is too expensive! and unprofessional. The tech that came out to my house to give me a quote for my own water heater. He was dreadful. He was hoping to sell me improvements that I didn't need and had a bad attitude. I had to use my home warranty service for this job. I called them while he was there.I needed him to provide the authorization supervisor the breakdown and to explain the cost of the repair. He told me he was going to bill and had a bad attitude! This Tech is at the incorrect profession. I do not understand how that company stays in business. This techs unprofessionalism and money attitude. Bad Business!! I shall spread the word. There continue to be good and honest professional plumbers servicing Daly City,Pacifica and South S.F.. I am happy I found one to perform the job"Rosenberg Plumbing".

Not so Good. The work done was o.k., but the rates are exorbitant, even at the plumbing world. The technician kept trying to sell me extras that weren't needed, and they charge a price for each product, as opposed to service call plus materials and time. 2 hours cost $1200+ bucks. Never again.

The name of the company is still somewhat disturbing, but I suppose in regards to unclogging toilets and sewer work, if Mel did not smell he would not do his job correctly.
FYI: This company is listed twice (one in Pacifica and one is South SF). Same company though.
They repaired my home's sewer lateral per the new Pacifica ordinance for homebuyers. These plumbers didn't, although the ordinance sucks. Fantastic experience, very professional, fast, and price slightly beat four additional quotes (not by much, but still a savings), including the cost of this permit, materials, and labor.

Worked on clearing roots, utilized a camera to see how much the roots were made sure the water flowed, at half the price. We are going to use the next company before phoning"Smelly", ever again. There is no guarentee on who you will get to service you. My neighbors used them same person twice and needed to call a company that was different, for a time. Not good.
Used this company once before, expensive, but the service person got the work done, very professional,"roots" in the pipes. Used them again this season, a different service person. Bad attitude, left with a chunk of money and said you need to replace your pipes, pulled one chunk of roots, said no warranty on job. More problems, 3 days after. Called a different company, a professional person showed up,

WOO OHO! No job is to large or to small to Smelly Mels. I have utilized them to drain my sink and to get a underground plumbing project. They did the job economically and fast.
Smelly Mel's is rooter agency and the pipes in the city. They arrive fast, do not over charge you and are favorable. I won't ever use another Service again!

Reinstall my garbage disposal and I phoned this company in to reconnect a new faucet. After purchasing another disposal device and returning to Sears, my boy buddy found he reconnected it five minutes and that there was nothing wrong with this and checked the older disposal. The technician did show up after five and did receive a few calls from likely his wife wondering where he had been....so I'm thinking he had to get out of my job telephone. $295 was left by him on a simple tap reconnect and removed. You make the phone - something smellees me fishy to me. Unfinished and overpriced equals support.

He jiggled the chain and looked in the bathroom and stated that was it. I said that isn't it, I'm sick of jiggling the chain and I want it fixed so that the chain doesn't have to be jiggled every 10-20 times. The plumber didn't see exactly what was wrong and stated that some toilets are tempermental.
Smally Mel billed their rate to come out which has been a joke. I have seen their trucks in the city for years and the name broken me up. I was looking for a reason to call them.
Where I went with the service psychological and temper is. I had little doubt that he knew what he was doing. He explained the washers for bath and your shower were too old and would cost too much just to get the right ones.
I phoned them to correct a few things. I had a list to have a plumber fix bathroom, the sink, shower, and bath. It seems like most of the leaks and creaks .
Okay, I needed to call scam . These guys work in San Francisco with older houses that mine. I own a 1941 home with plumbing and fittings and he's telling me I need to rip out my plumbing to fix a leaking handle in my shower and in my tub.
Their service only is composed of jiggling the bathroom bowl string.
I explained I was not searching for"cheaper" I am searching for"now."
When my handyman came back from vacation I inquired if he could look at this and hurried outside to discover the components that fit the older handles and it had been fixed for under $100 and I have a new bathroom to put in, a high-tech thing and now I need a plumber for a professional setup.
Receive a washer and the plumber watched the sink and arrived and explained to go to Lowe's, that he doesn't have one. This was after he stated to receive a filter found that there was a new one on the countertops. If I put in on properly, he inquired and I welcomed hi to PLEASE look and see. I am not the professional here but it seemed easy to install. He explained what I needed refused to look at it and it'd be cheaper.

Employing a snake to trim roots? Sorry buddy but you've been had. You cannot use an auger or snake to cut . Because I have done that job myself, I know. There is A snake a bit of cable that is used to push through clogs. How do you envision the exact same tool being used to cut on tree roots which are running parallel? By identifying approx roots cut. Where the origins are and disassembling the tube. The roots grow into the pipe because of a flow and you understand which sewage water is loved by those tree roots! After taking that part of pipe apart, the roots can cut out and assemble the pipe by its fittings. It is simple to place a coupling to connect the trim places if you needed to cut the pipe.
If you were told by Smelly Mels they cut your origins then you have cheated. Sorry.

Will arrived on time and has been quite easy to manage. He explained the problem and how to fix it. The job went quickly and as of today we have not had another issue. Yes, they're costly but what plumber isn't. I cant speak for all of the techs which Smelly Mel's employs but when I've any plumbing issues I shall call Smelly Mel and ask for Will.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Extremely unprofessional. I set up an appointment to get a plumber to install a water heater faucet on Friday. They called at 4:45PM to inform me they were running late and had to reschedule. I rescheduled for 5pm on Saturday. My fiance and I hurried home to be there until 5, and in 5:05 I called Smelly Mel's (831-335-2695) along with the A-HOLE plumber tells me he's an emergency job and has to reschedule me again. When was planning on calling me? Who does business like that? Smell ya later, Smelly Mel's.
