Problem: My approximately 7 year old refurbished air purifier( encircle air XJ 3000 version ) was starting to get louder. This purifier has been with me through traffic neighborhoods and areas with a great deal of environmental and soot residuals.
The repair individual is professional and personable. I contacted them and they responded within hours & were enthused about me doing business.
Fantastic service, friendly and fast.
By the way, they're in a fantastic place ( plenty of parking, in front of the store, available on Saturday and on weekdays.)
Thank you so much BVC. If I have some other problems with appliances, I will be sure to use your services and will recommend you.

I'm thrilled that Berkeley Vacuum & Sewing can fix it. The components were assessed by them, cleaned the housing and did a lube job. It will give me years of use and is working beautifully. I'm thoroughly satisfied with their work. They went beyond my expectations. And to boot, their prices are reasonable which saved me from making an expensive purchase.

Update. In my first visit I had been told my vacuum cleaner needed filters that were fresh for approximately $40. It would be $80. The kind woman there also explained I could try cleaning filters.
I cleaned. I started up no suction and still the vacuum. I took a look and I could see the obstruction. I was able to clear and wash out the issue, although I am not handy with tools.
So I have downgraded my critique. The people in the store were fair, just did not diagnose the issue. I would have returned to complete the repair, to be honest, if I could not fix it myself.

When I visited there was no clients, so support was friendly and fast. I will return again when I want to obtain a spare key(s) made.
I came here following the Ace Hardware store botched my spare key. After attempting it in your home and getting my spare key. It worked.

I am beyond pleased with this place and I will come here later on for any vacuum related demands.
The service here was friendly and quick! I purchased in my vacuum and was expecting to wait a couple weeks for it to be repaired. Instead, the man at the counter was able to catch a replacement component and fix my vacuum in less than 5 minutes. Incredible.

Slow to greet me but great, fast service on my vacuum. Would go there again!

These guys get an excess star service, after being serviced with these guys but my absolutely operational Miele broke. The spring powering my retracting extension cable broke, so I took it in to be replaced. I also consented to a'care check up' which is what I think resulted in my vacuum that was broken.
There was a whole Nextdoor thread regarding this area ruins Miele vacuums and needs to be avoided. I am so sorry to write this review because I want to encourage a local business, but I needed to voice a caution for people who don't want to see their vacuums that are very expensive ruined.

Update (8/20/19): I am still using my vacuum after I bought as a Christmas gift for myself. Still going strong!
I will be working together as long as I can and bought a fine Miele. They do all of it.
Super experienced and have been in the company. This is a neighborhood shop that is premium quality. DON'T purchase a vacuum from Target or WalMart. These people will provide you an honest evaluation of your requirements and won't nickel and dime you. They are absolutely not"used car salesmen".

I finally got to the front of the lineup, along with the gentleman (he told me his name, however I am a total airhead and almost instantly denied it--my poor ) asked me when I had 15-20 minutes to spare. I informed him I did. He explained he could go on and fix the machine . Well, that tickled me pink.
And that is exactly what he did. I had to wait for him to function the considerale amount of consumers still waiting in line, but I walked away with a perfectly functioning machine less than 30 minutes afterwards, all for about 85 percent less than what I was hoping to pay. The repairman was honest and informed me the job was straightforward, and me charged only a minimal fee. I was quite blown away.
It's a real pleasure--and of course that a surprise--to find these ethical professionalism and honesty. I will go back to this company any time that I need any work done on my machines, and will wholeheartedly recommend them to my friends who sew.
I am totally thrilled with the service now, that I received at this company. No big deal, I expected to have to leave my machine together to be repaired, likely for a couple of days, at any rate.

Fast, friendly, effective. Went in with a vacuum that blew debris around rather andn't sucked nicely. I was in and out using a vacuum that is repaired of the store in under 10 minutes.

This place is totally wonderful! They are experts in fixing vacuums and have exceptional customer support. They could fix the mechanical problem that it was having in about 15 minutes, Even though they do not specialize in Roomba's. Roomba told me I would need to invest $450 to ship them it and fix the issue. I attempted to pay Berkeley Vacuum for the job that was great, but he insisted there was no charge and it was a fix. I was blown away with my experience here. They are highly recommended by me!!

I always got great service and used to go, so I decided to deal with my old vacuum to a tuneup that they offer-changing the filter, cleaning it inside-for $50 last week. A couple of days later I turned it on, it left a horrible sound and gave off a godawful smell, so I turned it off immediately, took it down there and they told me the motor was dead, that they had nothing to do so, they hadn't touched the motor, and they gave me $30 off the purchase of another vacuum cleaner. I did a little research and you can purchase them expensively most anywhere else. Since this happened I've heard from other people with similar tales, so I would say at the very least, don't opt for the vacuum cleaner tuneups.

Went in and had a few filters changed. As soon as I have the vacuum home the change had broken I have to unplug the vacuum to flip off it. Strange and bothersome for what I paid them, as I could have purchased a new vacuum.

I brought in my classic Bernina for a new motor and, when asked when I wanted other repairs along with a cleaning, I said,"No, the mechanisms are working flawlessly." I emphasized that they shouldn't mess with the internal mechanisms. When I picked it up, they said they had fixed a plate. I tested it and took home the machine. It stalled because the gears were jamming and maintained stitches that were missing. I noticed they had put from the needle backwards. When I called, I was given a mixed explanation by Jim and kept telling me to bring it back to get a cleaning. He said their Bernina guy, Segmiller, had experience on Berninas. When I asked why he didn't test the machine after the unasked for adjustments, Jim reported that he didn't understand how to thread the machine. (I thread it the first time with no experience on a Bernina--it's that straight forward.) Given this, I won't ever have them touch some other machine or this again. And I must pay for the damage they did for this.

Such a beautiful experience! My IKEA sewing machine was jammed and family and my friends and I could not mend it. I called here and they suggested they could have a look and I bring it by. I did and she did some trouble shooting right there in the counter, taking time to check for a variety of difficulties. They could have scoffed in the little machine that was cheap, but they were fast, helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I have got a sewing machine , all!

I never write reviews check my background. . This is definitely the worst experience I have had I'm soooooo upset anybody can achieve this. . Purchased a belt since the one in my airlift somehow shattered:-LRB- I seen the reviews of the place and thought it might be the best to cope with... boyyyy was a wrooooongg... my room is at neeed of cleanup! You'd think these men who fix vacuums understands something like this ought to be managed in a timely fashion... I purchased a belt using them somebody on the phone said weekly. . Called following week on the day he said could be there... apologized and stated it is going to be in next week. . I wasnt even angry at allll... known again... once more saying next week... this has occurred 3 weeks that they need me to wait for a belt I could have gotten anywhere else to get a faaarrr lesss wait... whats worst is when I called the owner was trying to laugh in my being mad and saying she has nothing related to orders being backed up... are you really serious. . She litteraly laughed at aggravation willl and my battle never ever deal with these individuals ever again I have never felt this way. . Screw those men

I went to sewing and Berkeley-vaccum machine to get my sewing machine tuned and fixed. They walked through the difficulty I was having and also the various ways I could fix it. Among the potential fixes even involved not purchasing any new components, and they told me that they didn't think I had a tune up in the present time. They made minor alterations to make the machine function at no cost and taught me many things about my machine. If their goal was to acquire a loyal customer, they did it!

Customer service and high quality of work. I've brought my vacuum for a repair on two occassions and they could fix it while I waited.
Very affordable employees. Would recommend them.
Thank you!

Wow, fantastic service and knowledgable staff. I had a issue with my machine I simply could not fix on my own while I waited and that they fixed it to the place for me and also for a reasonable price. One of the best repair shops I've been around in the Bay Area!

I had been so apprehensive about leaving my own grandmothers Singer Featherlight with almost any shop, however, the minute we walked in, I knew it had been the location, the machine would be carefully attended and all would be well. Amazingly knowledgeable, honest, simple and reasonable. So happy I found this place.

This place is so magnificent. I introduced my 12 year-old vacuum cleaner in because it started emitting a burning smell every time I used it. The smell was a bit alarming although it seemed to work ok. The tech confirmed the engine was beginning to burn out, turned it on and took a look at it. He gave me 3 choices: to replace the engine for $200, to throw it away and buy a new vacuum for $300 or to use it before it died completely (which may buy me a year or more) so as to save it for a few more years and keep it from the landfill, then I chose to go with the $200 fix it alternative. The vacuum was prepared for pickup. The owner would only cost me $130 and said he installed it and found a marginally used motor. I truly appreciated him saving me money on telling me and his honesty so he charged me it was used.
