I'm for getting me in my car and in my house, a huge fan of Federal Lock and Safe!
These guys are wonderful. My house keys were made by them in 5 minutes while I waited. They then made my car key in precisely the exact same period of time. I obtained an wonderful discount and mentioned yelp. I have attempted to do the house keys in home depot before and like many others, the keys not get the job done. I went back and they fixed it, although there was a little issue with one of those keys.
Yes, it is out of warranty and they bill by the hour. But, no, I like to work with those who understand customer service, stand by their job and are somewhat more reasonable. Even a $50 credit might have got me to use them - but they did not care about my business so I'll take it everywhere.
I am a fan of trying to store local, but they let me down. They installed a Schlage number key pad lock and it is currently broken and out of warranty. I had them come out to repair it. In about 10 minutes time, they told me it couldn't be mended, rather it requires to be replaced (my home is 100+ years old, I would expect a fresh name lock to last over 3 years). And they billed me $160 for your visit. I asked if they credit all or any of that back if I hired them to put in another lock when I noted the steep fee for not mending a product they offered me a few brief years back. I was told no.
I didn't know about a Yelp discount (seemingly 15 percent ). I had come here earlier for keys, however, the producer didn't make the blanks like that they should, therefore no keys that I ferried back and forth worked reliably, so I just replaced my lock from Home Depot. This time I wanted to receive my balcony door in my condominium working again. Again due to the substances this area was built with, there are no parts made based on the men here. He knew the problem so that he offered to place a screw in it to hold it at a better position or take it to see if anything more might be accomplished since this isn't the only doorway in the building with this matter. I desired a through check to find out if anything could be repaired, so I approved an extra 30 minutes of work, since I can't replace the doorway, but alas it was good. Anyway, he spent a fantastic hour complete his journey time was also contained by 100% of it came to $260, which he mentioned and it was labour. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, but that's still a great deal of cash...
Fed Lock likely does a lot of their business w/ individuals who need *way* more safety than my pathetic property. But they do a great job, and they've a terrific flat-fee truck-roll alternative that makes tasks such as re-keying your exterior locks alike to be a real breeze. Professional and really knows their stuff, and courteous.
Has everything you need, and the staff member was respectful. Just looked a little pricey. If their service is needed by me, I'd go again much out of convenience.
The customer service side of things went as smoothly as might be, so I am very happy with this overall experience, although part of my review is based on. The only drawback was frustration due to my own boneheadedness with ego, and also a slightly delayed rest for the babe.
I had been a bit freaked out, having just moved into a new home and having locked out myself! I simply went to drop off the diaper bag, water bottle, and other baby paraphernalia, then went back out to the car to pick up infant, since naptime loomed near. I phoned in a petition for service that was prompt and the girl on the telephone told me the locksmith was leaving then. I had to wait since this company is just about 5 minutes away. When he arrived, it took him about 5 more minutes to open the doorway, and I had been charged 99.99999percent less than I had been expecting since I had been a local client and since the job was so simple.
I've utilized Federal Lock for hundreds of jobs within the course of the previous 3 years. They are courteous and always prompt and reasonably priced. I know they can handle any job and do. Their technicians are always professional. Most recently, Brian Padgett helped me when I had been locked IN my apartment construction because of a door lock. Brian got out me and immediately came after the job he worked on. So grateful!
We were not able to re-assemble an aged non-standard front door handle and lock assembly that I had removed to re-finish the door. After two additional locksmiths visited, and neglected to find it out, Steve (Technical Director) came by and had it back in service within an hr. Their rates ($125/hr now ) look high, but are finally lower (possibly much lower given that we had been advised to replace the entire door) since it had been done properly and efficiently. There are a lot of lock smith scammers out there, we encountered one. Federal is fair and competent.
Came here to get keys made because Home Depot/Lowes didn't have the right size. Quick and friendly. . .don'forget to say Yelp for a 15 percent discount!
The lock on door came apart and left door in a unlocked position - a situation that has to be remedied in short order. The tech they sent out was friendly and said it shouldn't take too long to repair. He ended up calling his manager, who drove out to help him. It took approximately two hours from start to finish and, when I spoke to the man back in the store (Franky), I voiced my concern that I was likely to receive an astronomical bill since the tech was, though fine and well-spoken, a bit inexperienced. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they had charged me for the first hour and not for the extra time, when I went to pick up my key and cover the bill. I was impressed at their client support and will certainly use and recommend them.
They're also, it should be noted, one of only two locksmiths advocated by Arlington County- using so many locksmiths that are fly-by-night, it's difficult to understand who you can expect, so that gave me some additional relaxation.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE: DO NOT LIKE RESIDENTIAL BUSINESS. Safe and federal Lock installed new locks and made fresh keys for our home when we moved in about 6 years back. They did a fine job at this. I phoned them later to see if they could work with the mechanism of an document cabinet. They made a house call, the person who came was not pleased with the job and he was ineffective at creating the mechanics work. Instead of sending the job to be accomplished by someone else, they called to have paid in any instance. When I demurred (no one had explained that we needed to cover if they did the work or not), they quickly became angry and belligerent and starting screaming to me on the telephone that this type of annoyances were why they did not like residential company (as compared to commercial). Very unpleasant experience until I phoned today to get them come re-key our locks that I luckily had forgotten. They denied based on the fact that somebody had noticed the accounts concerning the file cupboard incident. It is very scary to have a company that"holds the keys" to your house be so petty and vindictive. My guess is that they weren't competent to operate on the cupboard and they ought to have just been selective about the jobs they try rather than take it out. Yikes! I will let you know what they told me! LOL! Happy to!
I was billed for 1 hour and 45 minutes of work even though the tech was only here an hour. He said the 45 minutes was for traveling time. The technician told me if he calls them to report he has completed the job and that the office what his billing time was predicated on if he left for my house told him. I live less than 5 minutes from them and when I questioned the tech about the space he told me that they billed me for his traveling time from the previous job place where he was at and he wasn't in the office when he came to my property. This just seems like an underhanded method to extract cash.
Part of this work was done and when he has the time -- the place on the doorway jab will have to be fixed by my husband, or I'll have to employ a person to repair. As the technician wrapped up his work I happen to check the key worked. The key did not turn all the way and I understood the deadbolt doesn't go into the wall. When I looked to the wall I saw the tech had sloppily gauged out the timber (in which the deadbolt goes into the door jam) and the timber is jagged and has splintery wood pieces sticking out. I did not want him so I told him to simply leave it alone destroying the wood.
3.) Poor Customer Support:
1.) Poor Workmanship:
2.) Price Gauging:
When I got a call. To ask me how the project went explained exactly what happened. I was told the matter would be looked into and he'd get back to me. I rec'd a follow up call by a different employee who essentially told me that both technicians told him that I was never charged travel time and the job took almost 2 hours and the remainder of the time was spent"describing the work that was done at my home." I told him that just the tech was in my house and the guy who stated he was a manager stayed outside the whole time and wasn't part of the conversation I had with the tech IN my house. I told him the time spent"describing the work to me" was above the harm they did to the door jam region --REMEMBER, I MERELY HAD 2 LOCKS RE-KEYED! The employee merely kept repeating what he claims he was told by both of these workers, in spite of me pointing out that employee #2 was a part of the conversation. And I overheard the tech when he phoned the office. So, in spite of the evidence I presented him he decided to dismiss it, he chose and in the long run , they lost a client and to dismiss the poor quality work that was done by his employee.
Significant regret calling this company.
I predicted about a broken door lock at 10:30. From 11:45, they ended , and found a broken bolt had arrived in my house, set up a new lock -- . Polite and courteous too.
