Nice looking shop, they look like they have been doing so for a long time and it shows.
I was there together with my five year-old son and he noticed a Ray Charles toy while we waited at the reception that. The worker gave him a buck for a prize and was amused by my son nature.
Before I knew it I had a spare key less than other locksmiths and made at the price of this dealership for my truck.
Before I called Fred's I predicted almost a dozen places. It should have been my call based on their outstanding support that is fast and personable.
I thought to send good vibes for this place even though it's years later and I live in La Jolla, California. When I lived in Michigan a location referred me to come to Fred's once I had a tuner car. I wanted to obtain an alarm installed so that I took it in to Fred and his store did s job. I recall them deliver useful and really friendly. They have been in operation for many years and I highly suggest this location for all those who still live in Michigan. I really don't think shops exist in my current city because it's all of DIY kiosk controlled by via smartphone or directly at kiosk that I have not used yet. Five stars such as Fred's.
Any essential can be made by these men. Their rates are fair and I am in and out fairly fast. Pay with money, it makes matters SOOOOOOO simpler. I've never attempted to use a card here.
Fred's Key Shop is a staple in Detroit. I don't get keys! I had a essential emergency at my enterprise. Fred's made me keys in 20 minutes.
Go to Fred's!!!
Fred's is a little shop on a corner in Midtown that's not the greatest. They take good care of anything lock and key including car ignition key buttons assisting to get your car open after you have locked your keys inside, and much more. They've been able to copy an skeleton key! Who knows exactly how, but they do it.
As it is so well known in the city, and little, there is always a few people ahead of me once I come here. But the short wait is well worth it - jokes will crack, tell old tales to you, and make you feel like you've been a regular there for years if it's your very first time in.
Fred's is a Detroit institution. Next time you're in any construction in the city that has been standing for a while, have a good look at the doors - bet the locks all say"Fred's."
Want secrets? Do not go to the hardware store....go to Fred's!
This is actually the 2nd time I had to find a new secret. My first replacement I had ZERO issues reprogramming itself and got, so I found it odd , when the self-programming didnt work this time. Im glad Freds managed to come out quickly and get me located while I am cost extra expenditure I'd of otherwise averted by James Martin Chevrolet offering me the key. Before becoming to Freds I had contacted a few locksmiths that were distinct and they had the very best price.
When I called to have a person come out, they were there in 10-15 minutes (Thank God since it was freezing cold ). Despite the fact that I advised the technician I had a secret over the phone, thankfully he brought another since the dealership gave me the key! They will never get any business from me, my friends, family, partners and hopefully YOU). The tech (Jimmy) showed me and explained the gap in key types.
I had the misfortune of losing my only car key. So I got a duplicate and went. When I went to Freds the following day and spoke to Sarge, he gave me exactly the same reprogramming instructions the dealership gave me, saying that it usually works when the ignition hasnt been altered or had been otherwise having issues(hoping to save a few $$ which I appreciated). He explained the cost of having someone come to me at the instance it did not work (he was convinced it would). I triend the reprogramming instructions still nothing.
LADIES: If you're looking for a confidence boost, Fred's is your place! The guy whom I had the joy of working with just insisted on paying me many kind compliments, despite my apparent refusal. From the minute I walked up to the counter, he believed I was a teacher (since I had so much course ), and made sure I felt extremely comfortable (not singled out and threatened at all) since the sole woman in the store. He maintained the strong and loud praise going, even though I insisted that I just needed to have some keys made and be on my way. But my standing as a customer in his store had nothing to do with how he felt was appropriate to talk to me facing his male colleagues and the male customers. He did not wish to take care of a struggle from somebody denying his generosity! His colleagues were just as kind, and not for a second did they make sure and disrupt the situation I could get the keys made I came for.
Simply speaking, AVOID Fred's as a woman, unless of course you would love to be this livid you are practically throwing things at the guy you have with this you can just get some keys made to work. Making keys necessitates embarrassing and insulting your customers to the stage they are scared to say anything since they are alone in an unknown shop and place, surrounded by men who could care.
There was a fair amount of things in the store, so I imagine they would be able to do pretty much anything related.
I moved in because I needed to replicate. Because there were just two people in the store when I got there, I waited a few minutes. They told me that the cost up front, and I had been out of there in less than five minutes. That's pretty much all I need from a location.
Went in to have a duplicate of my car key. Initially estimated at $95 due to transponder. Discovered that the transponder was able to create me a copy for about $ 6 and wasn't needed to start the car.
Professional, helpful and timely. An Excellent locksmith Found in Detroit's heart.
The guy who answered the telephone was pretty rude. I gave a phone to see if I could get my keys replaced for an out of state vehicle to this place. I advised them I dropped my registration but had current insurance records and my own ID to verify the VIN#. They insisted I had a copy of my registration or title (which would take weeks to get a replica in the lien holder in Texas) and they couldn't do the job. I called another locksmith in a suburb right outside of Detroit and got my own issue resolved within 2hrs.
Should you need any sort of security device, entryway device, lock, tools, accessories, and hardware... it's all here (in case it pertains to entrance and exit of vehicles, companies, or domiciles). The staff exude an aura of expertise.
Irrespective of their extortionist charge card coverages, this is the type of area you should visit at least once if you live anywhere in or near the city. It's full of character, it's helpful, they have whatever you need for things that is key, and hey--store neighborhood.
The support is no-nonsense. You have the impression they don't necessarily need your business, but they're professional enough to help you. Being they are being around as long as they've, I'm sure they utilize a gruff, no-nonsense way of dealing with customers since they likely get a lot of shady characters in there who maybe want help with things which aren't necessarily on the up-and-up.
What irks me the most about the area is they have an 20 minimum fee for credit cards. If you would like to go in there and find a couple of keys duplicated but do not wish to carry cash around in Detroit, well, you're out of luck here unless you would like to buy cans of Barbasol shaving lotion (!?!) (yes, I have seen both of those things on the shelves there) to make up the $20 minimum fee...
Fred's handles all my lock and key needs that are related. They are quick, professional and not too expensive. Thcey have these cool keys where you are able to get the key itself imprinted with colored layouts like the Simpsons, the Michigan block M emblem, the Detroit Tigers logo, etc..
The only drawback is the guy who works the front (old guy, not the director, with the squinty eyes) calls everybody"hun" and flirted with all the 15 year old woman I had with me. CREEPY!!! Ieven complained to the manager last time, that sent the guy to the back and've seen him here several times, apologized to us, and took care of creating our key copies himeself.
This neighborhood family run company has supplied some of the main keys in the motorcity. I trust freds to open and lock all my doors. Everything is carried by These men from a skeleton key. They do work on alarm systems and automobiles. Try Freds if you want a fancy key cut and you're going to come back everytime.
Here is the place to go when you've got a hard to find key, require an alarm on even a safe or your BMW to lock up your valuables. This gem has got it all. And the service is fantastic! I was in and outside of the doorway with my new key in hand. The team is knowledgeable and will not rip you off, they prefer to get a satisfied client that can return repeatedly. So, if you require a copy of a key for that special someone or an alarm to maintain out that not so particular one, check out Fred's!
I frequently find myself living in home around Metro Detroit. So when I want a key I go on Second Avenue.
Advertised by my construction since'24 hour emergency contact'. When I was locked out, though they possess a master key the company didn't respond. After I was upset, hearing from an employee hours later, the employee sent me rude text messages, saying he had'no responsibility into the construction,' and I'm guessing the exact same for clients...
The Standard is set by fred's Key Shop I have used Fred's key shop since I moved to Detroit forty decades. They are only the best. I wouldn't ever consider using somebody else.
Heritage, Fantastic service, quality products, quality individuals
(Also, occasionally Sarge has donuts he consistently shares!)
