Got burned with these guys. The key broke off at the deadbolt and I was locked out. The construction manager not answered and it was fairly late. The locksmith must have smelled a victim because he made it in record time to my location.
He stuck me with a $120 charge. When I complained about the effort he gave to make it up by giving me a receipt for about $200 and saying I can compensate my loss from bilking the landlord. Disgusting!

So, the next dayI called the locksmith company and they shipped another man to come out to have a peek. This man showed up and spent two hours at my location. He should have drilled to the cylinder and informed me that the lock was drilled to by the very first locksmith. He manage took out the lock and thenhe proceded to sit at my kitchen counter trying to look up prices of this lock give an estimate to me. I spent $50 for this man to take my lock out, look up stuff on the internet, then, put my lock (still damaged) back in my doorway.
To make matters worse, he'd taken my copy of the secret of the lock and he had my key. He gave me some grief about it when I asked that he mail it or drop it off. I eventually asked that it is mailed by him and asked certification. Three days later, I hadn't received the key when I phoned himhe stated that he hadn't mailed it. I asked him and also he said that was too much for him to perform, work. Ultimately, we ended up driving half an hour out of the way. (We've changed our locks however)
When I asked the man to break down the $300 - he stated that $220 was for supplies and $80 was for his time and the $50 to send him out there so he was really asking $350 (I got frustrated since we paid $20 extra initially for the man to come back that afternoon and I paid $50 the last time he was here to sit at my kitchen counter surfing the internet for 2 hours supposedly looking up parts so he can give me a quote but he couldn't come up with a quote)
Affiliate or this employee with Gateway proceeded to write reviews on yelp and insulted me claiming my image of beef as my profile picture is genitalia and it offends him. In addition, he posted reviews that were inappropriate. Your attitude, actions, and immaturity are very unprofessional and is a manifestation of Gateway Locksmith.
First Review - One StarWe were locked out of the condo and in desperation, only started calling the Yellow Pages down and came across Gateway.
1 locksmith 80 - he stated that he would replace the cylinder he drilled . (It was just supposed to be a cylinder replacement) so we paid him an additional $20 for him to come back that very afternoon and would pay him the remaining $40 when he came back to fix it. We waited patiently for him to come back - .
*EDIT: I waited a whole week to simmer down and after writing a letter of complaint to both the main office along with also the BBB, I gave them one more opportunity and I phoned their office requesting to talk to a manager because possibly they are oblivious of this sort of thing occurring. The manager I spoke to - Sabino, was very considerate and understanding. I appreciate the efforts and applaud them for at least, the customer service that I received over the telephone. I will up this review to three celebrities trusting.
*Edit: After reading Frederic's very biased review on how it was my fault it was a delay - I am going back to my own one star review. This is his review"Dee W.'s review is a really sad song, but she failed to get the facts straight. Reports say she was really cause of the delay in receiving her crucial returned by the locksmith. Also, $50 for 2 hours of a locksmith's time - that seems like a slip, and of course the fact he went so far as to put the lock back into the doorway required for the repair. Appears to be a genuine first class man! What's his number? There are far too many discrepancies to record here, but don't believe everything you see."
Then, the next day, he telephoned me and quoted me at $300 to replace my lock (he says that the first man - by precisely the exact same firm - drilled too far to the cylinder and damaged the lock so the whole thing has to be replaced). ConfusedI asked why were we at fault and have to cover the lock to be substituted when it was their company at fault because they are the people who drilled past the cylinder.
Technicians and their operators are incomprehensibly stupid. Couple that fact with their expensiveness, and you wind up paying a great deal of money.
I called my mechanic, and he gave me the cost of 250, and a 75 dollar tow.
I said,"I advised your operator exactly what I needed and he said 140 bucks."
Sunday evening I call a locksmith and say,"I need you to send a guy out to my car and modify the ignition switch in my car. You may have to change the cylinders or gut the whole thing." He says,"Ok, tomorrow between 10 and two, and it'll be $140.00."
"Well, you need a brand new ignition lock. Wednesday, the part can be ordered by me and return. For parts and labor it'll be $400."
If there was a way to provide NEGATIVE STARS to these folks, I really would.
Sat outside in my car in freezing temperatures for 5.5 hours waiting for the locksmith to come work on my car. I waited and waited and waited. The guy makes a key, fiddles about, shows up at 3:30 and tells me that he can not fix. That will be 140 dollars, please.
Kids, don't ever call Gateway Locksmiths.
While I talked into the mechanic on the phone the locksmith started to get impatient with me. He made some remark, and that resulted in some cursing tirade. If he had been never insecure I hope that is what he remembers most from our meeting than the 140 dollars he ripped off me.
