On-time, attentive, excellent job replacing mailbox lock. Not inexpensive, but reliable.
I have done an internet search for plumbers and clearly ended up getting routed to this small business. I told the person I had been routed to I had been having troubles with two bathrooms. He delivered over a"technician". I wasn't quoted a price for an estimate or the call. The"technician" arrived and let me know he'd have to pick up the parts. He also said I would be called by his boss. His boss did not predict. The technician came back using parts from Home Depot. I asked for an estimate. The"technician" asked I call his boss. I called his boss and was advised that along with replacing the interior mechanisms he was recommending the waxless seal be replaced (the technician had already bought the seals from Home Depot). I told him no to the and I asked for an estimate. He quoted $100.00 for the service call and $189.00 per hour. I told him I was not considering those prices and I whined about not getting an upfront quote. He explained that was my obligation and he had no duty. We argued on the phone and I kicked the technician out of my residence. This was little more than a total SCAM.
John is unprofessional and seems like a cheat. I bought a deal from Angie's List for door maintenance and he started excluding services (such as lock replacement) which were certainly contained in the Angie's list deal description.
He then proceeded to tell me he's certain about which clients he selects (haha). It's clear he wishes to locate clients with a lot of extra work so he can charge extra. I'm happy I sought a refund from Angie's list.
I'm happy there are yelp reviews that explain John behaviour.
$307 TOTAL
$78 for the deadbolt
I talked by phone and scheduled an appointment five days afterwards. I'd eliminated all but the center section of the lock myself. The locksmith came, assessed the lockand in 15 minutes, eliminated the center portion with his tools. Then he set up.
$65 replace and to eliminate the lock
My fees
Watching him work, it is uncertain how"lockout malfunction" and"removing the lock" were distinct, especially since I'd removed the majority of the lock before he arrived. In any case, as he worked, he should have let me know what I'd be charged for as he worked.
$69 to come to the house (scheduled, maybe not an emergency)
I will never do business with this company again.
Showed up late, added fees that were random and took forever. I wish I had asked him to leave. Everything was an upward fee or an attempt. I got a quotation before he arrived and he billed twice the quotation.
If I could give 0 stars I'd terrible business. . My secret was stuck in the ignition and the the he managed to do was take it billed $500 for it and out but could not create a replacement! He is very rude and a rip off and unhelpful. Defiantly won't be talking his company to anybody!
Totally cheat. We purchased a bargain from in an of the email/phone conversations with this corporation or Angie's list which included all costs and following the job is completed he asked for TRIP cost which isn't even mentioned anywhere upfront.
Would not recommend them to anybody!
Jack up the price and offer you"discount". Agreed about the price on the test but showed up and charged on a different price on bill. As soon as I went back and asked about the unexpected invoice, he said"I deleted my text","Why would you try to nickel and dime me". I showed him all the text history and that he wouldn't admit. This isn't the place you go if you would like to work with some people that are honest. AVOID.
Very the sitcom...
He , was always late for the appointments. It took several tries to get him essential supplies.
We purchased a bargain List to fix an old front door which was difficult to close, and squeeked.
The door is currently in WORSE shape than it had been earlier, requiring a slam for the lock.
We were charged by him as his' patch' took more than expected, for additional time. We paid since we needed to get back to work , and had had it with him - he came because of his appointment between 8-9 at 10:30.
Right off the bat he started noting things which were not covered.
This guy is a yahoo.
You've been warned!
I strongly recommend this firm, they gave me the most competitive quote. Fantastic workmanship and support! Couldn't ask for anything better.
Purchased Deal from Angies List. Troy, John's brother and partnerprovides handyman service. Scheduled appointment. Troy called Christmas eve and wanted to review what work I wanted done. Very tasks. I'm 71, physically reside and challenged. The attitude of troy was incredibly rude. He said a excursion charge is in addition to fees for work. Overall switch and bait. Then I read the testimonials. BAD! Many. Some cite the trip charge. Lots problems with Troy's work too. I letting them know of the issue with these guys and am cancelling the deal.
Be sure that you let your customers know the price up front. Ever hear of good customer support? Purchased a $65 livingsocial deal and was an extra $184 for ONE LOCK. Before he gave us complete, oh but the job was done.
I am sorry that I did not read the reviews before purchasing the $79 for one hour of maintenance deal from Angie's list. I had the same experience with being charged for work that I did not agree to, but because it was done, I did pay. But, I do feel that I was duped and when I informed John (the Magnolia person who did the job ) that I would be posting negative reviews, he told me that I should have asked him how much it was going to cost. To put it differently, the client should request the estimate. I fell into the snare. Beware of their unprofessional business practices and the company.
This is a terrible experience. In the long run I have nothing for my money except frustration and anger. I bought a service on Angie's list and it took them 5 months to specify a date. They didn't return my calls. When a date was establish by us, John advised me that the project would cost an additional $495 to $795. However, the workman stated he can do it. It's just that he goofed around, talked on the phone, had started following 45 minutes. TERRIBLE experience.
Like most other suckers a bargain was purchased by me from the listing of Angie which they refused to honor and then provided to do the exact same job for 3 times the price. John who I talked to is a moron. He could not multiple 3 x 100 and proceeded to tell me exactly what fine work they do. He was unapologetic obnoxious and impolite. If he would agree to return to first grade and learn mathematics and manners, I'd agree to kicj in the 98 dollars. What a bunch of fleecers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give your money to an business not these losers
