The entire cost for your line repair was labor rate for your plumber ($115/hr) and helper ($45/hr) and materials for the repair. This totaled out to just over $1300 that was an accurate representation of the time . This was slightly higher than what they offered but with the time it took to find the line.
A couple of months - we received a card from Roby's thanking us for our company along with a comment card which we could fill out. Since I do not know I received anything very cool. I found out that a gas line had been run by Roby's and they were impressed with their professionalism and diligence/attention to detail.
I was exceptionally happy with Jason and his helper's excellence and professionalism. I am not privy to the conversations had on their conclusion but in my eyes that this was a difficult and really hard repair on account of the digging required and my guess there were involved.
Day 1 - that the master plumber (Jason) helper began digging and they had a hard time locating the lineup. He spent about 3 hours still couldn't find it and digging. They had to sump water (and mud) to the side lawn as the pit kept filling up. What a mess.
A few days after - that the helper came back and ended the hole filling in up and cleaned the side of the house off.
They wanted the water off for a couple of days prior to repair - the floor was so saturated with water (and it was late February there was 6" of snow on the floor and it was flipping cold). We had the water and it was off for a great five days coming out. They began work. He also indicated that because of the saturation of the floor and location of the flow they'd hand dig to the water line since the lawn would have actually torn up and sunk to the floor.
I will certainly be calling Roby's in the long run for my plumbing requirements while I really don't expect I need them. I was exceptionally happy with my experience.
As part of the quote process, Roby's along with the other firm equally thought I'd require a completely new lineup (again - prior to knowing where the flow was). I was given a very detailed quotation for a quotation for repair in the event the line was outside of the house along with both a new lineup by roby's. Another firm was kind of"meh" on a repair and really only needed to run a new line (that was roughly 4X the cost of repair if it may be achieved ). I decided to proceed with Roby once I had the location of the escape outside.
Day 2 - they both came back after a couple of hours found that the pipe about 5 feet and a bit off the mark from TSI. Hole from the service line - probably an impurity from the copper. Replaced the section of terrible pipe using CPT, assessed at house and the meter to make sure there were no leaks, and began filling in the pit.
Stage two of my plumbing leak saga - after TSI Energy Solutions repair it and I had to have somebody come out. I contacted Roby's and yet another business prior to knowing where the flow was (since I was really only gathering info ) and not fully understanding what could be covered under insurance. Very time.
They went above and beyond to get a client buddy of mine, although roby's consistently does quality and prompt work. He had recently had a dishwasher and in a disposal, Robys put on a date. After the sink apparently backed up into the dw, my friend was quite upset. Robys sent a technician . Jason quite kindly and scientifically evaluated the issue and determined that my buddy had caused the problem by diving the clog in the sink, causing the backup. While they could have charged for this, they did not. I love They stand by their work and are also willing to help out a long term client with an"operator error"
Estimate 8 hours $1200.00, finished in 4 hours $1139.00. $285.00 an hour! What a rip off! Be sure you get everything or you will have a outcome that is very upsetting!
Our water heater broke , Roby's did come and repaired the problem in the quickest way possible while we were without hot water for 3 days. Everything moved smoothly and was covered under warranty.
As a woman (and incredibly miniature and young-looking), I get trouble being taken seriously, but Rick was professional and spoke to me like a grownup. That counts for a great deal.
Had fittings under bathroom vanity that leaked, Rick billed me a price from Roby's came out within the hour, and was thorough and agreeable. I will definitely call them .
As if the problem was not frustrating enough, now another employee, John (who blatantly refused to tell me his name when requested ), walked to the manager's office, where I sat with Larry having what I thought was a personal discussion, and disrupted our meeting to criticize my actions and my grandma's feelings. He said things like it was not a big deal, it is just 1 letter and, even though I said that my grandma wanted to continue to function together with the firm as she believed it was an honest mistake, John (and Larry later re-iterated) announced that"perhaps the firm did not want to work together with her" (for no clear reason aside from her desire to raise awareness regarding a racial slur being published ).
I then set up a workplace assembly, printed off several posts regarding the word'chink' (as he did not seem to know about its racist nature) and led to the workplace. I asked that my grandma, as per her request, have the chance to speak with whomever had made the mistake and the firm put something that word had been eliminated from all correspondences and files involving her. This seemed reasonable and simple in my end but I had over-estimated the company's workers.
Larry continuously said things like"it is just 1 letter" and insinuated it was not a big deal, '' he told me there was no motive for my grandma to come speak to him personally and that he did not know what to put in a letter to her (suggesting to me that he would not take action ).
My grandma had Roby's Plumbing out for an estimate and had experienced any issues. In what seemed to be a fair mistake that her title"Ching" had been misspelled as"Chink" on the estimate compose up. Being 91 years old and also a first generation Chinese woman who moved to America from the 1940's, she wanted to get the spelling rectified and is quite sensitive to this particular word. She tried phoning the business, but she could not suitably communicate with them over the phone as she is very hard of hearing. At this point, she asked me to approach the enterprise to ensure her name properly spelled and the racial slur was eliminated. At this point, we assumed it was a typo if they realized what had happened, and the company would be horrified. I fully anticipated Roby's at minimum, apologize to my grandma as well as, to immediately change the misspelling. This would not be the case.
First came a phone call from Larry (service manager) where he kept repeating the racial slur even after being advised of its offensive nature. His defense was that he did not know that it was offensive, except I had to continuously tell him to quit saying it which sounds legitimate.
I have been exposed to such behavior that was unprofessional and, frankly, insulting. I was not at all hostile in my strategy and calmly asked for what I thought to be the minimum in this kind of situation. I wanted to clean things up and was insulted further, talked to, interrupted, and entirely dismissed by the company's workers. And of course that they felt that my petition for an apology was sufficient to draw their estimate, not perform the work. The lack of the insensitivity, maintenance, and also guilt regarding minority woman an older and an ethnic slur was dreadful.
To be fair, I did figure out how to reach Brad Roby, the owner, on Monday and that he consented to write something to my grandma, apologizing and assuring her that the word could be removed. I am still writing this review because people deserve to know the grade of employees this company has kept and the caliber of customer service you can expect to get at the Indianapolis branch Although I commend him to do the proper thing.
