Yes. This is among my Harvard Square shops. Visit for yourself, and you'll understand why.
I inquire. Replies the Dickson's store staff person that is friendly.
"Wow, they carry the Aero Press coffee gadget," I believe as I catch one to buy.
"Do you've got window sliding locks?" I inquire. "Yes, please follow me," responds the friendly Dickson's store staff person.
I once remarked to among the team,"Wow, you really do carry everything" , to which he bellowed with laughter and leaned back.
I have bought anything from key chains, spare keys, hex wrench set (for bike), cleaning supplies, food thermometer, light bulbs, reflective tape, and much more, out of here over the last few decades, and have been pleased.
This is a magical store that contains pretty much anything you're searching for. Here are some of my adventures:
I love hardware stores! I love exploring and finding little Knick-knacks I didn't know I wanted or would want! I love to take my time exploring. I believe I am not alone.
As much as I love and find this hardware store, every time spend more than two minutes and I go in, I am followed by a minumum of one member of their team. When I reassure them that I am just surfing or ask questions, people follow me at the most subtle way. This last time, I spent $51.24 dollars here, on several random stuff and has been followed by no less than three different people throughout the duration of my being at the store. As she noted she had been left unbothered, even tho, she had been sporting a backpack.
I am disappointed nor surprised by this but I am still angry still. Please do not support this store and their racism.
I can not say enough. The customer support is amazing. As a square business proprietor I am ignored buy the knowledge that the team has and only kindness. This area helped me so much during my cafe build out procedure. I come here at least 4 times a week and may remain all day. This place is a.
Everything you went to buy on Amazon is here + they could replicate your keys.
What will you discover in this wonderful place?
Staff is friendly, a bit bashful from time to time, but attentive and knowledgeable.
-art supplies: glue gun, pipe cleaners, stickers
- safety children: house water quality evaluation, evaluation that is lead
This is how the world will be saved by you .
-cleaning supplies: stain remover
-family essentials: magnets, batteries, mason jars, sandpaper
Among the very few remaining useful shops in Harvard Square with fantastic prices and superb staff. Please shop here for all your house-ware and hardware needs. We need to be certain they stay in business.
The prices are really reasonable, especially for an independent business in Harvard Square. In general, this is presents for the cook in your life or a spot for housewares!
I usually come here to the kitchen products that are moderately priced even though the majority of the floor space is devoted to hardware. They've a choice of pots, pans, bowls, measuring cups, utensils, kettles, and other cooking essentials. I also adore the collection of other knick knacks, hand lotion, and keychains .
It's so easy to have a place like this directly in the center of Harvard Square. The staff is super friendly and keen to help, as the others have mentioned. Years ago they spent some time helping me select the right Kind of chicken wire to cover the openings in my stair rail in order that my pup would not collapse through:)
I do have to mention their staff is quite knowledgable and ready to help! I wish they may offer things and had a larger shop.
Their shop is on the side--it's in Harvard Square--which means their selection tends to be a bit limited.
*where there's another man * I go upstairs
Me:'where's steal wool'
Guy at register: upstairs, to the left
The staff I've ever met.
Worker:'it is right here, Allow Me to know if you have any quetions about any of them'
Worker:'what are you seeking?'
This store is the best! Every time I come in the team is knowledgable and here they have what I want. The men and women who work here would take as much time to speak through your jobs and recommend the very best products. Additionally, everything is reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
I had been there to search for the very special screws for my luggage handle. I was upstairs at the store and exploring all different contours of screws. Yes overwhelming for somebody non-handy. If I would need help, but I was asked. Was helpful. Unfortunately the store didn't carry precisely the same screw I was searching for but had something comparable. Because I didn't have my luggage I couldn't attempt the screw version. However he suggested I should come back with the luggage so he can screw them at the store. Just how fine! When you reside in town, you don't have that sort of simple but heart-warming kindness often. It was a good reminder that supporting local company is completely worth. Thank you. Shopping there made my day!
Dickson Bros deserves although I don't usually write a review especially on a hardware store!
Considering how little this place is, they have whatever you want... somehow. I had a few tea"tins" for my tea set at a fair price and they had many styles to select from. They've a fantastic paint selection. I wanted numbers for trash cans and they have a complete collection with dimensions. Keys are cut to perfection rather than are wrong. Locks for all sorts of needs. Blah, blah, blah ...
Great old fashioned hardware store where the clerks go out of the way. They came to the rescue using an obscure converter which works As soon as I believed I had tried everything to attach a garden hose into a bathroom sink faucet. I wish that there were more hardware stores like this.
No review seemed to mentionthey accept UPS drop-offs! They are super friendly too. Other than that appears to have a collection of every hardware thing you could need. Has a very local/homey feel, reminded me of the ACE hardware store near Berkeley, CA.
Why lease a zipcar to go to Target when I could get what I want here for significantly less?? I am constantly surprised to discover just what I need here, despite the small footprint. I really love the team members are.
Choice of hardware for a closely packed space in the center of Harvard Square. Prices are also reasonable. However, 3 stars goes to the service. Every time I go here, teenagers that were just trained clearly staffed only it. Examples of a dialog:"I'm searching for a hacksaw", I say. "What is a hacksaw?" Says the person at the counter.
I also tried to receive a key replicated. It had been bent (cheap metal). The response from the surly adolescent? Because he does not know how to unbend the secret, it can't be duplicated by him. Really?
So the main point is you can purchase exactly what you need here, but you know exactly what you want before you move.
I have been here a number of times through the years. Lately I came by for a few odds and ends. I got excellent service although I asked about a few screws. I heard about a few added services. They cut me some scrap wood. I got exactly what I wanted around for $3.50.
The rates are fair and they will take back things (if fresh ).
That is my favorite hardware store. There's always someone on hand to answer your questions and assist you help you find something or troubleshoot your hardware problems. Comprehension and this personal attention is equally wonderful. They make you feel that they like helping you.
They have the typical hardware things, including an excellent assortment (an entire aisle) of screws, nuts, bolts, attachments, etc. ). In winterthey market Stabilicers (with small cleats) to pull over your shoes so you can walk .
I go out of my way to store here.
They offer a service that allows you to have packages to top it all off. Kind of like a po box-except alot of companies will not ship to PO boxes. You sign up online, the good folks at bros sign for your package+send you an email to come pick it up, and you catch it at your first convenience. I've had a couple of boxes ignored my porch and the areas I buy from online wouldn't ship to a po box, therefore that is defo a big incentive for me.
This is the my favorite spot in the square. They have everything. I say! The folks that work there are uber-nice and helpful.
This is my favourite hardware store in Cambridge (and possibly anywhere). The employees are friendly, and they have everything you will need for any project and know what they're talking about. I love it!

Thanks to the 2 guys who loaned me a wrench free so that I could replace my bike chair last Monday. Class and Actual guys acts.
