Nevermind Home Depot or Lowes....this hardware store has EVERYTHING! Their sh*t is known by the men in this area and are beneficial. Highly recommend the area!
I had been walking home from the rail and needed something for my garden hose (which they had) and looked around. . .this location had everything you would want from a hardware shop. . .paint brushes garden materials, brackets, tape. . .basically everything the bigbox stores have....AND IT'S A LOCAL BUSINESS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

Bartunek has been an Astoria stable. And for good reason: the store remains a location where your problems have been solved long ago, you simply have to ask.

Reputable and Considerate. Walked in and asked about making a customized window for a mobile air conditioner as I have a swing/crank window. They have been polite in sharing that they do not have the tools to make a custom hole for, what is needed but aided figure and where to get it done! Thank you!

Without knowing hardware, these folks haven't continued since 1925. Bartunek was my grandparent's hardware store, let alone my mother's and mine. Unless you shop there, you can't be from Astoria.
Stop by, if you are new to the area. It'll be the beginning of a business relationship.

Very helpful. From moving due to the boxes I unpacked, I came looking for twine. The man at the counter was very considerate and made sure I got the one that is correct. I will shop there again to your own requirements that are houseware.

These guys are great! Went behind the counter in the two gentlemen and to replicate some keys were personable and helpful! Super friendly and funny! They roughly memes experience that was great and struck up a convo about my nail colour haha! Would encourage everyone to visit this Neighborhood biz

I more to replicate keys haha, compared to anything else, but this is a neighborhood hardware store. The men that work there are knowledgable and hilarious. You will leave smiling.

Consequently, if you require new keys, or even some hardware for a house projectstop by here and check out what they've. I have never been disappointed!!!
The location is small, and you will likely have to visit a Home Depot or Lowe's for bigger things. However, they have a pretty good choice. While there, I have picked up nails, tools & caulking , screws, along with a bunch of additional hardware.
My main reason to go here has been to have keys copied. Their locksmith is excellent, and the rates are cheap.
This is a local company that has been in Astoria for decades (I appear to remember reading that they started in the 1920s, however I might be wrong). When I was a child my parents and grandparents came here, and I have come here from time to time as a grownup.
Are educated and nice, a combo!!!

I wish I could donate 4.8 stars to the excellent customer support! I spoke to 2 different hardware stores around my area for copying keys, and this store gave me a quote of $1.00 for many keys and another store close to the station gave me a quote of $1.50. The individual at this store sounded enthused and welcoming than other store's and because it was more economical I came into the store, although I am not sure of he's the owner or the worker. Happily I was greeted and cared for my request. The only reason my score is not 5 stars is because of the price - I copied keys for 50 cents in East Harlem before and even though this store is less costly than the other one, it costs a lot longer when you have to replicate numerous keys. Most keys I copied really exceeding $1.25.

I love this store. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and you'll be able to talk to a single person. I'm a woman so I need help in hardware shops - something that is difficult to find in places like Home Depot, where if you are fortunate enough to find someone to request help, they probably won't be able to give you any practical advice. So for me personally, if there is something I can get either here or Home Depot support a company and deal with ppl who really know what they're doing and I will always choose to come here.

Quick, friendly and efficient. Price was $1 to copy keys and I grabbed a couple plastic color shirts for $.20 each.

So, I remove the change from my pocket and hand it on. I ask for a reception, which has been a massive inconvenience for him.
Nothing. I apologize for interrupting gentlemanly talks that are quite important and your day to hand change in money to you.
In searching for some steel wool to fill holes I've around my 16, I went. Easy enough, and it was at an okay price.
However, I figured I'd ask about what they've that could insure a pit to get a wall socket while I was there. The gentleman that was"helping" me seemed as though that has been the most ridiculous question he had ever been asked. Fine. Maybe it was, it felt reasonable to me.
I'll be traveling for greater support later on.
So I go to check out. I inquire if they take cards. The guy stops in his tracks, and in a remarkably smug manner says,"No. Money only" with such an obvious expectation that I wouldn't have money. It felt as though they thought highly of themselves. I never believed a hardware store might be that pompous.

I lucked out -- that the employees behind the counter were quite professional and friendly. They left of the copies less than a moment, which was much quicker than anticipated for me. Not only did each copy cost a buck, the keys work! On top of a top quality shower pole and set of hex keys for dirt cheap.
With rigors and all the headaches that come with moving in to a place that is new, it was refreshing to get such a nice and effective experience at Bartunek. Just found my go-to hardware store in the neighborhood.
Not really sure why locksmiths in Astoria get love to altering that, but here is! I had a couple of keys replicated for my new apartment. I Yelp-ed"locksmith" and out of the five shops situated nearby, I rolled the dice and chose Bartunek.
That is a charming little neighborhood hardware store with even better service and great selection.

My keys were left by them for me quickly, charged me approx. $1 per secret, and so were friendly! I'd definitely go back!

I called five places to help me out when I did that dummy thing where I secured the door. Every other place quoted me $75-$125 to begin - adding at that dishonest BS about"determined by how hard the lock is" etc. ).
I hope that I never need to call him but when I do, at least I know it will be an incredibly pleasant experience.
This place - $45 for a lockout. So much cheaper? Not cheaper, cheap. Since they don't need to make the most of you. Seriously. I know, hard to believe right? This really is a neighborhood store that prides itself on being a local store.
Locked out? CALL THIS PLACE.
So yes, the price was great and then they wanted to know what time would work for me. This meant I didn't need to leave work at the center of day along with being a bonehead. I met up together Anton busted his ass while being super friendly to open my door, and I know to leave a spare set of keys at work.

Great family-owned hardware shop. Worth supporting in the event that you reside in Astoria. Cash only.

I have had a few times when the workers did not lead me in the right direction. 1 examoleI had some things to put my apartment together-- wing nuts of a table and shelf pegs. I took photographs of every next to get the right sizes. The worker acted as though he knew what he was referring to, assured me that they had been dimensions and did not have to check out the photos. Well, they are not regular sizes. He sold me everything the incorrect size and I had to return. I attracted the table leg . The proprietor did not even sat apologize or sorry for this particular workers error. The reason that they get 2 stars: good keys are made by them. I have had a lot of .99 stores mess up keys, these men have a really good machine. When no one else they also had salt.

I like the countdown to baseball season in the window.
Old school... yes. (think of the time, gasoline, and wandering around like a idiot at Home Depot costs you) Super useful... yes. I've sent my builders there and it is loved by them. They rescued my daughter who had been locked in her room when the old brass lock broke within the door. We had a nice giggle about that, and they are coming to fix a broken pane. Quick, professional, and kind.
Proceed to place for easy supplies, re-screening, glass, or locksmith work.

I did not get to shop here. Went in at 3:20pm on a Saturday and saw a sign that said"cash only" despite the Yelp list saying it takes credit cards. It was shut. . .hours state open till 4pm. Great!

This is a great hardware shop, with knowledgeable, friendly workers and decent prices. For a small shop, they have whatever you can answer your questions and need and will be able to help you find the right thing. I moved in with a wood item which I wished to make some developments on. 1) They took the opportunity to problem-solve together and figure out exactly the right things for the improvements that I wished to make. 2) If they didn't have a product they indicated, they actually told me where I could purchase it (nearby paint shop ). Everybody I collaborated with was useful and pleasant, rather than only to me with every client I saw in with every assortment of home improvement projects. I am glad to support this shop that is local and will definitely be back for future needs.
