Outstanding support. I locked myself out and they arrived quickly. They were efficient, friendly, professional, and I thought the cost was reasonable. The locksmith suggested that I turn from the lock into a knob and also to use the deadbolt since my lock needed to be eliminated. He was able to do my deadbolt in a very short time and re-key that. But I hope I will not need to I'd definitely recommend them and would use them again!

If you require a locksmith call DISTRICT LOCK, maybe not this pitiful joke of a"company". What they're doing is complete fraud, so I am convinced it won't be long before it catches up with them...
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We had a man come out late at night. He was sketchy and not only was unable to fix our lockbut he ruined our door. He then demanded a personal check. As soon as I phoned them this week to follow up, I was advised by the dispatcher (Michelle) she is brand new and"can not remember the name of her supervisor or anybody at the company besides herself". She told me any manner for us to get in touch with anybody besides her or they don't have a business address. She hung up on me both times I called.
District Locksmith is a complete scam and wants you to believe they're District Lock. Regrettably I did check the telephone number before I called.

This company has been a respectable company for several decades and has blatantly attempted to impersonate District Locks, which is situated on Capitol Hill. We tried to get our locks re-keyed and I accidentally called the wrong business (I was trying to reach District Locks), also this business came out and attempted to charge me nearly $900 to get a simple job. We finally realized up the mix, and I got the original quote I was looking for, if John from District Locks arrived. Again, these guys tried to rip us off for over $700!!
Again, do NOT call this business and do not let yourself get taken advantage of. Ensure that you call the ideal number (and do not depend on Google results, which will pull up the wrong listing). District Locks is

I should've read the reviews before using them, but I only googled and they had been one of the very first ones on the webpage - they charged me $189 to open my bottom lock (not the deadbolt) since I had locked myself out and my keys were inside my flat. It's completely ridiculous a high price charges - knowing that in most cases if they're calling to get a lock out people simply need to get in their unit and do not have much choice. The technician was fast and nice and got here in a quarter hour.

This was my first time so I'll chalk this up but next time I'll need more upfront pricing and contact different companies before making a determination. And I'll never use this service. Please save yourself the pain.
I can not tell you that the regret that I feel after hiring District Locksmith to open my door. I had a very similar experience it seems. I had to get back quickly and locked my keys in my apartment, so I called District Locksmith and didn't shop around. I was told by the operator it would be a 65 service charge, plus labour. All of the operator informed me was that it was dependent upon the equipment that had to be utilized and the time , when I asked for info about the labour charges. I should have pushed back for more information, so I let it slip, but I was in a rush. To their credit, they came quickly. However, upon arrival, I was told by them that the fee would be $179 to start out the door. I was outraged, but having already agreed to the $65 dollar fee, I had no option but to pay. Since the deadbolt wasn't set, the technician slid a sheet of plastic between doorjamb and the door to open this up. It took less than 2 minutes. I felt completely duped. I went into this knowing that I was going to have to spend a little cash, but at $244 complete, this exceeded my expectations by $100.

They did not even arrive or call my mobile phone.
The lineup went to a voicemail, when I attempted repeatedly to phone their office. The message that I received was"the voice mailbox you are attempting to reach has not yet been set up."
I called them to get a condo mailbox lock replacement that was easy. They offered to send a technician out the following day at 11am.

I'm kicking myself for not seeing the review of District Locksmith placed only yesterday. My experience was indistinguishable. I called District Locksmith after the lock on our kitchen door wouldn't unlock from the inside. I was told that there was a 65 dollar service fee for coming out until they were here however that they could not provide an estimate. As soon as they came they told me it'd be over 400 bucks install a brand new one and then to eliminate the broken lock. I had no choice but to take the fee since it was late in the afternoon and by not being able to unlock the door, I didn't want to put my family at a fire risk. The tech then told me it would cost another $ 110 the substituted lock, was in and out in ten minutes, for $400. Obviously , I will search for another company and declined. I felt price and feel like a complete idiot. Do NOT hire this company. You'll regret it.

Good service, prompt, and very affordable rates. . .MUCH better experience than I had with the other area just a short while ago! The girl who answered the phone explained that stolen keys do not require a new lock, just a shift to the internal mechanism and thus fresh keys....she could have charged me more, but didnt. I appreciate how this firm does business and recommend them!
UPDATE: the review above is for District Lock, not District Locksmith - do not be confused with the names!

Asher provided prompt and professional support when I locked my keys in the vehicle. Highly recommend.

District Locksmith has been completely terrible to work with. I have never seen a company run. The first time they stood up me and blamed me and I was not there. This was false because I was there, my house was empty, and I sat by the front window which didn't even have dividers yet. The 2nd time that they were scheduled to come by, they were a few hours late. We needed to have them return to repair the work because 2 of the locks repeatedly jammed once my locks were re-keyed. After making the repair (they were late ), the guards worked well for a month. The deadbolt won't function and I'm going through the procedure again this week, and they've stood me. It's also worth noting that they phone to cancel, call to say their overdue, or call ahead. You have to cross your fingers and hope they appear. If you are smart, they will not be called by you at all. If you do call them and they're late or don't show, you will know what's in store. Trust me personally and avoid them at any cost.

These people are terrific. Our front-door and locks were jammed. We called a few areas, based upon the reviews in yelp. One highly-rated locksmith doesn't provide service in Upper Northwest D.C.; another highly-rated competitor simply offered a voice email, and then didn't return my opinion for six days. Meanwhile, I phoned District Locksmith, that sent out a highly capable, cheerful, and knowledgeable young man by the name of John who promptly diagnosed the problem and rather than charging us to install new locks, he cleaned and refurbished the existing locks onto our two doorways at a very reasonable price, carrying no longer than an hour or so to familiarize himself together with all our problem and to solve it. I couldn't have been more impressed or happy.

District Locksmith, the locksmith service previously associated with the now-defunct District Lock & Hardware Store on 8th Street, SE (Barracks Row), is still serving customers on Capitol Hill. Apparently, this locksmith service's owners were different from those who owned the hardware store. I've utilized District Locksmith recently to service the Mul-T-Lock system on my house and they offer the same professional service. They're still the best locksmith in town (in my humble opinion).
