Boy do I love the Security Shop! Our construction has these highly protected keys. We ocellated between whether to purchase new locks or not after we purchased our location. I talked with a sweet gentleman who walked me through the process and named the company. There are codes on our keys which let them track down who exactly made them, determine how many secrets were cut, etc.. Anyhow, after determining we did not have it made feel the lock changes. They had been verified we owned they put and secure and scheduled an appointment for someone to emerge.
The cutest little guy in overalls taught folks break in and me much about secrets and showed up. He given keys , quickly placed to a lock that is new and was gone. I'm proud to utilize Security Shop and I'm happy we invested in a strong brand of key. We have had to acquire additional keys plus they have a brick and mortar at which you can pick up them. Makes sense.
Fantastic customer support, keys that are attractive and knowledgeable service providers!
Just place for key copies Available Saturday (9-12:30) Ask Tom or Bruce. Great locks! Smokey is their dog
Do not even think about using this store. I'm dumbfounded. Ordered $2000.00 value of locks and door hardware....15 weeks past!! Checked 7 weeks after the initial arrangement and Chris said it was back ordered. Manager Tom said there was confusion and it actually had not been arranged. No apology. I predicted a couple of weeks and Tom said it would not be long. (Lie#2) Called today @ 15 weeks and Tom said there was confusion and they couldn't get the finish their tech (Albert) ordered. I asked when he was going to phone and allow me to know. He said that was between HIS TECHNICIAN??? and me In essence he's blaming the client who knows nothing , me. I've never experienced a provider so disinterested in dealing with clients in my own life....and to top it off, Tom wasn't apologetic in any respect. His response was" it's what it is, I can not do anything about it" It was obvious there was no follow up call and I was left hanging.
Absolutely horrible customer support. Avoid this place. The salesman shouted at us.
I needed as somebody broke into my flat my locks changed. They then charged me twice that, quoted me one thing. When I went to speak to them relating to this discrepancy, the mechanic, who invested no more than one hour at my flat and half of it in his van (then charged me for $150 of labour ) told me it had been a"five cylinder lock" that is apparently two times as expensive to replace. I tried to explain that they should have told me during the procedure, so I had the choice but once I tried to negotiate about the price with them, they asked me to depart.
These guys are the kind of mechanic that is sketchy!
There are loads of locksmiths in Chicago that will provide a price that is reasonable to you with no run-around. I paid the price for not finding one of them, don't make.
ps. . I another condominium and have been on the board of probably one of their most significant condo customers. . So guess who I'm suggesting we substitute as locksmiths in two different condo buildings that are current customers here...
This particular locksmith has been employed by our condominium construction for all the lock of it needs and spent a very good amount of money before getting keys done for our construction. They always have very short/curt phone demeanor and it didnt bother me.
There are TOO many businesses out there providing customer service that is good to find service from suppliers. Its called being polite... its called good organization. They can't spend a couple mins with customers who've spent thousands with them in past if business is so good. . .guess who will be receiving a call at the future.
When we had a break-in within our construction and a person kicked open a gate on our property... (on a lock they shifted ) of course my first telephone is the "Security Shop" for information on SECURITY... the supervisor. . . Being this was a construction.
Had some issues but they had been fair.
The locksmiths were responsive and hard working. A problem was in changing one of my locks. What should have been 30-45 minutes took 3+ hours. However, they simply charged the minimum support period (30 mins) since they failed to evoke some of the issues they would have.
This is not the kind of place you regular, therefore when trouble strikes it's a relief to work with professionals that are amiable. I had been locked out of my home while walking the dog (in winter) and this group were courteous and professional. SO glad that they had been nearby.
Highly recommend! I needed my keys to be copied when the Ace hardware basically next door failed to replicate them properly (apparently they weren't"ordinary" keys). It had been 50 cents more costly than Ace but I think I could splurge with this...
These people are professionals, and also being a very small place with a company, it still feels like a neighborhood shop. I was told exactly what they could and could not do. Offered an alternative solution that is affordable and sent on my way over 10 minutes complete. When you are running errands, You Cannot ask for much more:)
Experience - in and out!
Please give us an address to send the check to, as you Won't Be able to enter our store"
Regrettably, due to a actions, we won't be able to work together with you.
And that ladies and gentlemen concludes that.
"Mr. Glessner, my name is Shawn and I am the director of The Security Shop.
We're refunding you the sum of $113.79 to pay your purchase of 1 top security cylinder ($95.00) and safety attack ($8.91) + $9.88 sales taxation.
I said I would follow up on my experience last 13, Just as promised. It's now Wednesday and without so much as a telephone call from the owner or manager to ask my take on the episode - nor to open the door to allow me, a paying client to be discovered or perhaps hear what he had to say I get what follows in my email this afternoon, four days after the truth:
(remember he's not coming on what actions he's referring to)
Highly recommend!
Second time we called him was because our apartment lock stopped working and eventually was sticking. We also had an issue. Arthur arrived right in the middle of the time slot that I began and had been given working. He was efficient and friendly and did a fantastic job (both locks work perfectly, among the lock mechanics needed replacing, and he re-keyed among the doors for me too ). Reasonably priced I thought.
Here is the second time.
Always quick and curteous. I have used them several times over recent years.
That is a"No" first kind of location.
Customer support is not their strong suit and neither are their prices. Their selection is great and they are knowledgeable but boy do they really lord that more than you. Their money is created on support calls although simple copying that is key is reasonably priced. Stop in with queries (and even a willingness to invest in expensive locks) and you are in for a rough time.
These guys are great! Helped me before a vacation and got the job done perfectly - we keep using them.
Friendly guys working... Very active location, many folks working and many people getting keys in an otherwise quiet weekday morning when I went. They have among the very extensive lock stores in the city that I've seen.
The elevator into my flat has a double sided key that we took to approximately 8 different actual"locksmiths" most of which were unable to even try to copy because it is double sided, and the one which did generated unusable keys... Security Shop whipped these keys up in no time. And the keys operate.
Prices seemed reasonable.
Their prices are constantly changed by them! One week they charged me $3.75 for a key to be forced then go at a month after get another key made they charged me $5.50 and now I moved in and they charged me $4.75.... The same key so keep charging me prices that are different? I asked them about this and the man just shook his head and grunted at me!
When I want a new key made up for the 21, I just go here because its half a block away.
Out a skeleton key was broken by my husband by accident. He put his weight on the key all so and apparently recently had a hip replacement. But this nearly became a nightmare before I ended up at the Security Shop and assembly Chris Perry. I spoke with Chris times over the telephone. Speaking over the telephone ALONE gave me the confidence that he could correct my demands that were broken. I came in with 3 skeleton keys. Chris took one look at the keys, picked among them within minutes he worked his magic by making use of a tool to grind it down to fit the lock. The charge was minimal. I will be sure to mention to all of my buyers (I'm a realtor) that their locks should be altered by this Shop!
I just wish they had better weekend hours.
Fantastic experience! I have a secret that Home Depot not Ace Hardware could copy for me. Seconds after looking at it, the guy in the Security Shop understood it could be copied by him. It took approximately two minutes, and it was $10 per copy. I was done with the entire errand (parking included!) In just 7 minutes. I will come back- even for keys so that I can be sure they'll stay around!
Fantastic customer support and fantastic work. Additionally.
My garage was broken into last Monday. Damaged the lock on the door. They were booked for the day but said they'd try. I had been afraid the thieves would come back and worried because I could not secure the door. They might be at my house in half an hour. Boris was fantastic. About how to be better protected made tips. I was quite relieved and I am positive the garage is protected.
