I recently lost my keys. Marc met me in my home after midnight (carrying him only about 30 minutes to get there) and allow me to enter my house. If one of my locks was obstinate, he had to drill through it, but he substituted the lock at an inexpensive cost on the spot, saving me time and money. I was impressed with friendly and how kind he was, along with his skill and pace. I was back in about one hour to my house. It was not an feat that is economical because it was night and a weekend, but in the long run it was worthwhile.

While following the light bulb section today, I dropped my light bulb that I brought in at Cole Hardware. How awkward! I can't even go to a hardware store without making a scene. One of their employees did not bat an eye or roll his eyes when he witnessed my clumsiness at the store. He just smiled as mentioned,"I will look after that." I thanked him profusely. Since they employ good employees like 14, cole will continue to receive my business.

I believed.... Today go through this exercise again and I must re-borrow the truck. Tony and Andrew (hope the names are correct) instantly offered to go recover the misdirected box and deliver it to my home in Orinda. And, that is exactly what they did and also, brought a gift to share their concern for the confusion to me.
Finest customer support I've experienced in a very long time.
I had arranged to borrow a truck to pick up the box and came in the shop around 2 pm to be told that I were called by error and that the shed wasn't there. On further assessing the team discovered my box had been delivered to some other customer.

After reading a few of the negative reviews I believe today, I must tell of my exceptional customer support experience. I had ordered a Suncast selected the shop of this Cole as my pickup point due and tall shed online. I got a phone message this morning that I could come by and that the shed was in and pick up this.

Thank you for being the very best in company!!
My happy place!! Among the best in town. Helpful staff. Great collection. From hardware to garden materials, this is our place for all pur house needs!

Anyway, there is for sure but so a shop the Variety of Cliff and they are pleased to help you find exactly what you need taking my cash next time.
I am spoiled because my local hardware store was friendly, helpful and proactive helping CUSTOMERS. . .ie the individuals who shop there that pay your commission... but I suppose Cole's staff doesn't care? Seriously I could pay less ordering Amazon and using it brought to my home in one day. While it's important for me to support SF companies, I'm finished with Cole Hardware.
A year or two ago burned down and I have been forced to shop elsewhere, so stopped in today. Every time I have arrived at this place, the staff I've encountered is rude, and apathetic toward clients.
Why so rude all the time?

Something else that I think is cool, Clipper cards are sold by them, you may add cash value . In addition they sell parking meter cards and day passes. Sometimes I run out of money on my Clipper card and it's wonderful to know I can run in as the stop I use is from Cole Hardware. This is where I buy my own stamps!
I have been to the store a small number of times after going to San Francisco a couple of months ago to buy crops, nails, tools and supplies that were arbitrary. They have a huge selection and apparently have everything that I could ever desire. The staff have always been nice and helpful, even funny, but my visit actually pushed me to critique the Cole Valley place. Wow - what good customer service. I bought some curtain rods from IKEA without recognizing that there were no screws included (even though there should have been predicated on the directions ). I didn't need to come back to the Emeryville IKEA for a few screwsso I went to Cole Hardware instead. Was amazing. He made sure the screws I had been purchasing would both work with my walls and the product I had bought from IKEA, and he also showed me the section of the shop I could come back to on my own should I ever want anything else that IKEA didn't provide. Enough, they have a lot of hardware that's compatible with IKEA products with this specific reason. All of this to say - the customer support was fantastic.

When did Cole eventually become Lowes? I have always supported Cole Hardware because it's a business with staff. However, that wasn't the case today. The attitude from the staff today was unmotivated and apathetic. A padlock was purchased by me and asked for 15 keys created for the exact same lock. I was asked to buy everything before getting confirmation that were going to match, more of an kind of response. Second, I was told 10 mins, but instead had spent 40+ mins. Two clients had asked after me for keys but was granted priority being made. Third, 14 from 15 of the keys made did not work after I'd left them the lock. This is the sort of experience I'd anticipate a price that is much lower but although at Lowes.

When I walked in with no thought how to create a shelf I received a ton of help. She made me all set up and let me pick out and bud three plants! Thanks Amber, for all of the help.

Cole Hardware is well stocked, and a number of the staff are very beneficial.
The store is also more pricey than many places I could get these materials, but I am down to encourage company.
The reason this got -1 celebrities is because a number of the staff have been impolite. I asked a gentleman if I could get some help with an outlet and went to the store. His response"I do not know, is it?" Uhh, *nervous laughter*, ok...I asked him concerning grounding an outlet and guidance on whether to get some adapter or that milder gfci thing, anyways, he had been quite rude to me and said I should have researched before I came in.

Came here for screws and some important identifiers. I had help with getting the proper screws along with the customer support was fantastic. Was super attentive and invested 10+ minutes. Can return.

They pretty much have everything you may need or want (or can purchase it) and also have the best customer service in the city, including a very flexible and acceptable return policy. I like that I do not need to fuss with receipts since most of my purchases have been in their own computer system.

I moved to Cole hardware today. I requested the sale associate a question concerning a product. I believed she had been rude and impatient! The staff in Market and there 4th are top notch. Do not shop in the Cole location.

I have dropped to buy house plants along with other odds and ends. They can fit a lot into a small space, which does mean it may feel a bit busy in the store. That being said, should you require it that they probably not merely have"it," they will also have somebody on staff who can give you good advice on whatever project you're working on.
I really love the tiny department in the trunk. I could probably spend and hour and be satisfied. Very plants and reasonably priced pots and containers.
Really a nice, and well kept neighborhood hardware store.

Not only is this store one of my favorite places to shop but it has. But I'm writing this review since they helped me when no one else could. I had a key urgently and each locksmith in town that has been open after 5pm was a mobile locksmith and could not help me. I explained my problem for Thomas, the manager, and though it was technically not something that they do a key cuts for me that it was an irregular key and that I introduced my own sterile. Since there was no particular price without buying a sterile, for cutting a key he gave it to me! So not only did they help me when no one else could however they did it at no cost. I adore this place!

Amazing what this shop comprises. Whatever you need in reality. And the employees are merely as amazing. I was not knowledgeable about the area garden stores. The cashier took a few minutes to orient me to the very best garden stores and EVEN called to check they were open! Who gives that type of customer service in the middle of a massive city?!?! When visiting daughter-in-law my son, cole is my own headquarters.

The majority of the staff are quite knowledgable about products and rocks. Difficult to find somebody but I get it- it is busy.
It is great to support your local hardware shop, so some of these pricing- may not necessarily be a budget saver.
Male customers you will find annoying if you. But the staff does not play into misogyny.

I'd love to decorate my local shop but not if they will not help...
Whenever I go there they don't have the light bulbs I need: pretty stuff 150 Watts GE kind things. It never misses and I schlep into Cliff's in the Castro where they constantly have everything I need and the attitude (which at Cole could be hit or miss) is uniformly pleasant.

I used to love their Mission & 29th store, before a neighbor restaurant fire burnt down it. What a huge loss for the neighborhood. I loved that place too.
The best. Reasonable rates. Moderately parking, based on time of day. Friendly staff I tell jokes with. Pretty much find anything I want here, when I am in this neighborhood.
Both these places set a high standard that sort of spoiled me into stores to be as good, be as competent, well stocked, cheerful, clean, mild, uncluttered.
This Cole family really set the bar high of how to do hardware stores.

That is my second time visiting the store, trying to patronize local companies that are little. Both times I have been disappointed. The customer service here is minimal.
While making my way to another aisle, I asked another worker"pardon me", so I really could pass through the narrow aisles. The response was a loud, audible, irritated sigh.
I really don't understand what is going on with these workers, but they all seem to possess clouds over their heads.
Now when looking for a specialization lightbulb, three times walked by me, without asking if I needed help acknowledging my existence.
This store benefits from its place, but next time and I will visit in big box stores that are big. At least I won't be ignored.

Pros: Really helpful and friendly staff. They want to make certain they so are economical regarding it and solve your problem and are not salesy. Everything little thing that you could want for a residence is here. Feels just like a small town hardware store.
Disadvantages: Layout is though daring. Limited street parking.
