Incredibly helpful and patient with me. They were able to decipher my description of everything I desired and provided me with the product I wanted although I'm not a locksmith. They were reasonably priced and quick. Never again will I but licks from the big box stores.
The copies function flawlessly and I left a very delighted customer. The man was friendly and they sell all kinds of additional items and other gizmos. A shop.
Despite it's modest outside with all the corrupt windows which make the place look like it is maybe shut, I took a leap of faith and tried to go there to get a replicated. The people there suck although I had previously tried that accomplishment and the copies did not work in any way.
Here I understood that things are different when I watched the staff quantify the key multiple times using various tools prior to punching out the duplicate. It was rather interesting to watch and the procedure was painless and quick. And best of all affordable.
Be aware that they do not do home visits! You'll need to look elsewhere if you want work done by a locksmith.
No question that Commonwealth is your ideal lock-&key company in Cambridge. 40 + years direct experience and I speak.
Other reviews said that they had wanted to support a business but won't be returning. Unfortunately I'm in this boat, and will go to a competitor with customer service.
I went to TAG Hardware to get they explained that Commonwealth should although they did not have that type of key, and copies of a flat key made, no issue. I waited at the counter, just for grumbling service and also the man to tell me that they could not create a copy and moved here. When I asked for more assistance, seeing as how they focus in locks/keys... just... he simply believed to contact the building's management. Ohhh - I had not thought of that! They seemed unwilling to help and they were tremendously unhelpful, that I left quickly, although I was courteous, with cash in hand.
Definitely the go-to location for lock and all things key associated - in reality, for keys. The elderly gentleman behind the counter is a complete prince. The younger guy - certainly not - and also the other reviews about behaviour that is rude, etc are well deserved. I sometimes wonder what since it's incomprehensible that they'd put up with his mindset otherwise or whether he's the owner's son. But they make keys that are great so that I keep going back .
Overall if you require keys that are new that is the location I'd come into first.
You may pick up virtually anything that has to do with locks, keys, safety etc - you will find lockboxes, gizmos to lock your windows, safes, padlocks - you name it. It seems to be the location where locksmiths go and at the expense of clients the store caters to them in reality - .
Cost: $94 plus 3 1/2 hours.
Called a certified Medeco attorney who came to the home, analyzed the copied keys and said that there had been a lot of material removed from the reductions in the blanks, showed me the way he could tell (I am obviously not a locksmith). Said he'd heard the same before, and actually just taking a look at the Yelp reviews, that's accurate.
I would never use them again. If you live around the corner and have tons of patience, and locks, and your time is of no value, do as you choose. Otherwise, find a locksmith that is true with agreeing, training, and a mindset. Strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Called and took Medeco keys to copy after they said they had gear and the blanks to do so. Inquired as to if the keys would work and has been advised, laughing,"we're not a local hardware store. They will operate, absolutely." Numbers furnished. Keys didn't work at all. Called and was told to deliver the keys back (nearly an hour each way) and if I inquired what could be achieved, was told"I don't know. We are going to examine it. Must be something wrong with your cylinders" They won't come to home, do not offer you on-site service. Ahead keys and cylinders worked fine. They dismissed this, and when I inquired again, told to"bring all of the cylinders along." Sure.
Value: 0 to negative
This is the location.
Yup.
It kind of makes me feel like I've got one foot at a fantasy novel and another in 1940. I am considering making additional copies of keys simply to return!
And did I mention that they replicate anything?!?! The key to my mailbox? The lock box at work? The mad long key in my apartment to the lock that is strange? Automobile keys...?
Watching him work makes me smile, although true, it might take 10 minutes for your old man there to replicate your keys.
Why does this feel like I am entering a land of magic once I walk into this shop in which the guys smell like tobacco and you will find keys (keys to what!) Lining the walls...
It had been more than I had anticipated but I really had the key so that I was willing to cover it, replicated. Then he tells me I'll need to leave my keys and I will return to pick them up in an hour (particular machine or not, I am pretty certain it doesn't require an hour to cut one key). Finally (this is my favourite part) he makes sure to inform me"and we are not able to guarantee the cut will probably be right." And to top off it the man is giving me an attitude by asking him to do so for me like I inconveniencing him.
I called the dealership to indicate they find a place to refer customers and walked out.
So let me get this straight... I am supposed to wander around with no car for an hour and pay you $25 (for labor only) to reduce one key which you aren't even convinced will actually do the job?
I stopped by here today for a duplicate of my laser-cut motorcycle key. A man at the dealership had known me here since they are among the few stores in the area that have the machine.
I can't say enough in praise of my expertise yesterday. I forgotten the codei and had cleverly reset the built in 3-digit combination lock two of my suitcases. Great, quick, courteous service and low cost.
This place is awesome. I arrived in ten minutes before closing to create two copies of a key. Took him about thirty seconds and I didn't even have to take it away my main ring (I consistently split a nail...). Cheap! He knew my property owner just. (Which I take to mean he's the guy you go to.) From the looks of the place, anything could be copied by them.
Too bad it locksmithing; I could appreciate this kind of service.
They had the porch key that is crazy my renter lost that no one else had the sterile for. The gentleman making the key took out a sharpening instrument and simplifies the borders. All of the keys were cut.
I can't believe that I've been visiting the Healthworks across the road for 20 years and have been a landlord for the last ten years that regularly gets keys duplicated and that I only just now learned about this location (I come from the opposite side of Mass.. Ave, so just never venture to this block).
Great prices. I was looking for a particular sort of key series (I could tag ), and they'd all kinds to pick from.
I am getting my keys cut here from now on.
I stopped in twice. Since I stood at the counter, both times I was ignored. I wanted to stay nearby, but it appeared as though my small business was resented by the guy. This last time he kept organizing things behind the counter, likely to throw out the garbageanything, it appeared, not to wait . I have come in for keys before, and an older guy has done the job well and without this peculiar"blow off the customer" attitude, which makes me feel as though I did something awful by stepping from the door.
The only drawback is that it doesn't have the best hours if you do not live nearby (open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weekdays only). Nonetheless, it's conveniently situated near the Porter Square T stop, so a quick pre- or post-work trip is doable.
Overall price for two keys? $3.15 (Cheap!) And the duplicate works even better than the original. Hell's yeah.
OK, so the guy who helped me is old enough to be John McCain's dad and he moved at the pace that you'd expect from someone of Methuselah's age (slooooow), however he was awesome and delivered exactly what I needed: two replicate keys to get a bicycle lock that utilizes an obscure, tiny key (one that my local hardware store was not able to replicate ).
Stellar customer support. I needed a duplicate Kaba Peaks key to get a workplace - . Commonwealth Lock was phoned by me, explained my situation Paula and although she said she called me to some locksmith / security company in Watertown. So I called that company, the person answering the phone took my info and told me to get over immediately before the crew went out on jobs. When I arrived among those"men" explained they don't carry the sterile of the key I detailed on the phone call. He also told me that I was out of luck. From my car I obtained the voicemail runaround phoned Kaba Ilco company and was directed back to Commonwealth Lock. BUT she asked for my number and promised to get in touch with the company for me and get some penetration when I called Commonwealth back Paula explained they had misinformed me. She phoned me back with number and a name to solve this. Though they didn't get my single-key business now, I'll be directing as much business as you can Commonwealth Lock company.

Fast copies, friendly staff.
Will be back.
Never seen that a wall of keys that were just. . .Was amazed.
Very quickly key duplication. I've been coming here for a couple years without any difficulties.
Speedy and friendly. He helped me then put my key and put a cap on my key. 3 important copies. In and out in 5 minutes.
The copies function flawlessly and I left a very delighted customer. The man was friendly and they sell all kinds of additional items and other gizmos. A shop.

Customer service experience. Making a copy of my keys required all of 1 minute a price a fraction of what I have paid before.

I received my keys. Cheap and operates flawlessly.
Been to this place several times. Simple & their rates are competitive. Job CoLoCo!
